Wild speculations on the missing flight MH370: balancing online expression and content regulation in Malaysia / Mahyuddin Daud
Get PDFA recent incident on disappearance of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 has broken billion hearts of people around the world. Joint international investigations have confirmed that the flight has ended in the middle of South Indian Ocean. However, till the day this work is written, no sign of wreckage, dead bodies or any shred of evidence could be found to provide an answer thus inviting wild speculations to the incident. Wild speculations on plane hijacking, suicide, terrorism acts and more can easily be found online despite threats by the authorities not to speculate. In this regard, the author recalls the right to freedom of expression (FOE) - which has been long recognised by international treaties. Accordingly, FOE has been expanded to include online expressions. New technology allows Internet content to be created without the need for approval from an editor – like in print media. This could invite creation of problematic content (such as speculations on MH370) and often led to intermediary liability of webmasters and service providers. Therefore, this paper seeks to address on 3 significant points. Firstly, a brief problem statement on MH370 incident and surrounding legal risks caused by wild speculations shall be addressed. Secondly, the author will discuss current legal positions on digital right to FOE vis-a-vis Internet content regulation in Malaysia focusing on online speculations. Finally, the author will provide suggestions to balance between rights to digital expression and Internet content regulation with the view on minimising online risks to netizens

Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian pustaka (library research), yaitu usaha memperoleh data dalam kepustakaan.Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini juga berupa penelitian kualitatif, yaitu prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis atau lisan seorang tokoh.karena penelitian ini membahas tafsir dalam satu tema, maka penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode maudhu’i (tematik).Sementara sumber data yang digunakan ada dua yaitu sumber data primer dan sumber data skunder. Sumber data primer yang digunakan adalah dua buku tafsir klasik karangan At Thabary dan Ibnu Katsir dan dua buku tafsir kontemporer karya Hamka dengan tafsirnya Al Azhar dan Qurash Shihab dengan tafsirnya Al Misbah.Paling tidak ada tiga hal yang disampaikan dalam surah Ali Imran ayat 64 yaitu nilai-nilai tauhid, persatuan, dan kesaksian atas kepatuhan pada Allah yang tunggal. Dalam ayat ini meneguhkan kepada kita penyembahan kepada satu-satunya tuhan yaitu Allah SWT. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan sikap persatuan walaupun antara kita sekalipun ada yang berpaling. This indicates that there is a problem with the cayenne pepper agribusiness system in Gowa Regency, although it has not been identified. Therefore, it is important to analyze the efficiency of the cayenne pepper supply chain during the COVID-19 pandemic in Gowa Regency. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of each channel of the cayenne pepper supply chain in Gowa Regency in the era of the covid-19 pandemic. This study uses marketing margin analysis and farmer's share analysis. The results of this study indicate that the cayenne pepper supply chain in Gowa Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic generally runs efficiently where the most efficient channels are channel 1 and channel 2

Optimal model-free control for a generic MIMO nonlinear system with application to autonomous mobile robots
No full textIn this paper, the design procedure for optimal model-free control algorithm is presented for the tracking problem of completely unknown nonlinear dynamic systems operating under unknown disturbances. The procedure includes a new structure in the context of model-free control and data-driven control algorithms. In the new structure, the unknown nonlinear functions are segmented into 1 unknown linear-in-states part and another unknown nonlinear part. The adaptive laws proposed for estimating the unknown system dynamics are regressor-free estimation methods in which there is no need for regressor parameters and, consequently, the persistent excitation condition is not required anymore. Moreover, the main controller gains are updated online, incorporating the adapted values of linear terms in the system dynamics. A comparative study is presented to show that the proposed optimal model-free control outperforms the state-of-the-art model-free control algorithms. In addition, the simulation results for the application of the algorithm on autonomous mobile robots are provided.</p
The Effect of Professional Commitment and Time Pressure on Audit Quality at a Public Accounting Firm in Medan City
No full text82 HalamanTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Komitmen Profesional Dan Tekanan Waktu Terhadap Kualitas Audit Pada Kantor Akuntan Publik di Kota Medan. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan ialah dengan jenis asosiatif, penelitian asosiatif dengan bentuk hubungan kausal. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 4 KAP dengan 30 Responden. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan sumber data primer. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah dengan cara menyebarkan angket. Pada penelitian ini, teknis analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan SPSS 21.0 for Windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial menyatakan bahwa Komitmen Profesional (X1) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Kualitas Audit (Y). Artinya jika komitmen professional semakin baik dalam pelaksanaannya maka kualitas audit yang diberikan oleh auditor semakin baik pula, begitu juga sebaliknya. Sedangkan Tekanan Waktu (X2) tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Kualitas Audit (Y). Artinya, jika tekanan waktu kepada auditor semakin kuat atau lemah, maka tidak akan mempengaruhi kualitas audit para auditor. Secara simultan menyatakan bahwa Komitmen Profesional (X1) dan Tekanan Waktu (X2) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Kualitas Audit (Y) pada Kantor Akuntan Publik Drs. Katio & Rekan, Joachim Poltak Lian & Rekan, Kantor Akuntan Publik Fachrudin & Mahyuddin, dan KAP Kanaka Puradiredja, Suhartono. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of professional commitment and time pressure on audit quality at public accounting firms in Medan. This type of research is the associative type, associative research with the form of a causal relationship. The sample in this study were 4 KAP with 30 respondents. Sources of data in this study use primary data sources. The data collection technique used is by distributing questionnaires. In this study, technical data analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 for Windows. The results showed that partially stated that Professional Commitment (X1) had a positive and significant effect on Audit Quality (Y). This means that the better the professional commitment in its implementation, the better the audit quality provided by the auditor, and vice versa. Meanwhile, Time Pressure (X2) has no significant effect on Audit Quality (Y). This means that if the time pressure on the auditors gets stronger or weaker, it will not affect the audit quality of the auditors. Simultaneously states that Professional Commitment (X1) and Time Pressure (X2) have a significant effect on Audit Quality (Y) at Drs. Third, interdisciplinary education integrates the other knowledge groups through the learning process. Fourth, transdisciplinary Islamic education as a result of open dialogue with else disciplines. Keluasan bahasannya dapat ditelaah secara multi, inter, transdisiplin, dan sejarah. Temuan penelitian ini adalah: pertama, pendidikan Islam diharapkan menjadi solusi atas permasalahan sosial. Kedua, pendidikan Islam multidisipliner melibatkan perspektif ilmu lain untuk memecahkan suatu masalah. Ketiga, pendidikan interdisipliner mengintegrasikan rumpun ilmu lainnya melalui proses pembelajaran.
