The cemetery as a place to store the body is a very important place for the Toraja community. In the past, the most widely used places as graves were in specially made stone burrows, in natural stone caves that were considered safe, in certain woods usually for the corpses of babies and partly buried in the ground. In modern times, many Toraja people choose to build a special place for burials called Patane with various considerations. Usually this place was built by one family and became a family cemetery. The size varies according to the wishes of the family concerned but on average is 4 x 6 m with a height of about 3 m. The location of the patane construction depends on the family's agreement and usually uses a place that is considered strategic or good.  From the results of the research carried out, the growth of patane buildings is an average of two patane buildings built every year with an average building area of 33.63 m2 and using an average land area of 100.9 m2. The environmental impacts caused are: 1. Positive impacts, namely the location of a neat and well-organized patane building can become a tourist attraction and Because each patane building can accommodate many bodies, it can save land use for the cemetery (if all the bodies stored in the patane are buried in the ground). 2. Negative impact, namely the arrangement of the environment is not neat because the location of the patane development is not well organized because there are no rules about its construction and the reduction of productive strategic space of around 100.9 m2 every year. (compared to using stone burrows, erongs, and caves that use unproductive land)

Student's reactions to the adult phase can be diverse. The sheer number of choices that come from the external environment and the complexity of choosing the best one often create pressure. The purpose of this study is to determine the quarter-life crisis (QLC) in final-year students at UKI Toraja and reveal the factors that trigger the emergence of the condition. This research is descriptive and quantitative. The subjects of his research were final year students starting from semester 6 which amounted to 99 people.  The results showed that the categorization of Quarter Life Crisis in final year students of UKI Toraja, is as follows: as many as 15 (15.15%) students fall into the high category, 82 (82.83%) students fall into the medium category, and 2 (2.02%) are in the low category. Through the calculation of the average score of each aspect of measurement achievement, the factors causing QLC were identified sequentially from the highest to the lowest aspects, namely aspect 7 (disconnection), aspect 3 (feeling anxious), aspect 1 (anxiety in making decisions), aspect 5 (negative self-assessment), aspect 6 (being stuck in a difficult situation), aspect 4 (depressed), and aspect 2 (worrying in interpersonal relationships)

THE SOCIAL MEANING OF ALANG AS A TRADITIONAL TORAJA RICE GRANARY AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR CHARACTER EDUCATION

The traditional rice barn of the Toraja community, known as Alang, serves not only as a storage facility for harvested rice but also embodies deeply rooted socio-cultural values that have been transmitted across generations. These social values hold significant potential for strengthening students’ character education. This study aims to uncover the social meanings embedded in Alang and to examine their implications for the development of character education at the elementary school level. The research employed a qualitative approach using an ethnographic study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the socio-economic development of Torajan society has led to a transformation in the function of Alang, from a traditional rice storage structure into a symbol of cultural identity and social status. The number of Alang, the motifs of their carvings, and their structural quality signify levels of prosperity and social prestige (customary status). Although some community members no longer store rice in a traditional manner, social values such as siangkaran (mutual cooperation), katuoan (family loyalty), and respect for ancestors continue to thrive within Torajan cultural narratives and have strong implications for character education.   &nbsp

    No full text
Generation Z, which is currently dominated by students and college students, is a generation that has experienced growth in line with technological advances. The large number of media interventions and easy access to detrimental information can hinder efforts to instill positive moral values. One of the first steps in designing and developing moral learning strategies that suit students' needs is to understand their moral characteristics. Therefore, the aim of this research is to reveal the characteristics of Generation Z in terms of their moral considerations. This research involved 63 generation Z students and used descriptive methods, with data collection carried out through a test technique known as the "moral reasoning test". The research results indicate that the moral development of generation Z students tends to be at a conventional level, dominated by stage 4 followed by stage 3. In this stage, good actions are carried out by obeying obligations and respecting authority. This reflects social conformity, where individuals tend to act in accordance with social norms to gain positive recognition from friends or other adults

Landslides are most common in steep areas with heavy rainfall. Aside from rainfall, there are numerous other factors that contribute to landslides. The presence of slip fields in the subsurface layer is one of the primary causative factors. South Makale is one of the sub-districts in Tana Toraja Regency that is located in the mountains, where landslides frequently occur, claiming lives. The purpose of this study was to determine the slip area of potential landslides in three sub-districts, which are Sandabilik, Tiromanda, and Randan batu villages. The geoelectric method with the Wenner-Sclumberger configuration type was used. The measurement data is in the form of rock resistivity values, which are then interpreted based on the rock layer type. The findings revealed that the Sandabilik and Randan Batu villages were landslide risk areas. Sandabilik Village has a slip area in the form of lava rock at a depth of 6.5 - 19.8 meters on line 1 and 1.5 - 16 meters on line 2. Rocks of the same type can also be found in Randan Batu Village, a landslide point with depths ranging from 2 to 16 meters on line 1 and 5 to 20 meters on line 2
