Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Jan Ptaszycki (1854-1912)
Depmana (1960), którzy znali go osobiście. Jan Ptaszycki was a Polish mathematician working in St. Petersburg in the period 1876–1912. In Poland, he is forgotten, and in Russia considered generally as a Russian mathematician, known there as Ivan Lvovich Ptaszycki. In Russian literature about history of mathematics, depending on the author, it is reported that Ptaszycki was a Russian mathematician or, more rarely, a Polish mathematician as, for example, in Lokot (2015, 2018). The important information about Ptaszycki comes from the obituaries of K. A. Posse (1912) and S. Dickstein (1912) and from the memoirs of I. Ja. Depman (1960), that is from people who knew him personally. We wanted to make known to the contemporary reader this forgotten Polish mathematician working in St. Petersburg. This article tries to reach his work and achievement in mathematics as well as information about his activity. After discussing his biography, we briefly discuss his mathematical work. At the end of this paper, we quote articles and books related to Ptaszycki scientific achievements and we present a full list of his published works and books, and also references where one can find information about him.Validerad;2019;Nivå 1;2019-08-20 (johcin)</p
Guidelines for Measuring and Reporting Environmental Parameters for Experiments in Greenhouses
The importance of appropriate, accurate measurement and reporting of environmental parameters in plant sciences is a significant aspect of quality assurance for all researchers and their research. There is a clear need for ensuring research across the world can be compared, understood and where necessary replicated by fellow researchers. A common set of guidelines to educate, assist and encourage comparativeness is of great importance. On the other hand, the level of effort and attention to detail by an individual researcher should be commensurate with the particular research being conducted. For example, a researcher focusing on interactions of light and temperature should measure all relevant parameters and report a measurement summary that includes sufficient detail allowing for replication. Such detail may be less relevant when the impact of environmental parameters on plant growth and development is not the main research focus. However, it should be noted that the environmental experience of a plant during production can have significant impact when subsequent experiments investigate plants at a molecular, biochemical or genetic level or where species interactions are considered. Thus, researchers are encouraged to make a critical assessment of what parameters are of primary importance in their research and these parameters should be measured and reported.© 2015 Both et al. Humor in the work of Jan Prušinovský
The Master's thesis examines the elements which create humour in the works of the Czech director and screenwriter Jan Prušinovský. It analyzes his work in the context of Czech comedy and then focuses on humour in his television series, including Okresní přebor and Most! These examples illustrate the various directorial and screenwriting techniques employed by the creator, supported primarily by the theories of philosopher Henri Bergson and interviews with Jan Prušinovský. In the following chapter, the acquired theories are tested on the series Dobré ráno, Brno! The final section analyzes the master's comedy Levárna, written by the author of this thesis.Ateliér Audioviz

Statistická inference v modelech extrémních událostí
Title: Stochastical inference in the model of extreme events Author: Jan Dienstbier Department/Institute: Department of probability and mathematical statistics Supervisor of the doctoral thesis: Doc. RNDr. Jan Picek, CSc. Abstract: The thesis deals with extremal aspects of linear models. We provide a brief explanation of extreme value theory. The attention is then turned to linear models Yn×1 = Xn×pβp×1 + En×1 with the errors Ei ∼ F, i = 1, . . . , n fulfilling the do- main of attraction condition. We examine the properties of the regression quantiles of Koenker and Basset (1978) under this setting we develop theory dealing with extremal characteristics of linear models. Our methods are based on an approximation of the regression quantile process for α ∈ [0, 1] expanding older results of Gutenbrunner et al. (1993). Our result holds in [α∗ n, 1 − α∗ n] with a better rate of α∗ n → 0 than the other approximations described previously in the literature. Consecutively we provide an ap- proximation of the tails of regression quantile. The approximations of the tails enable to develop theory of the smooth functionals, which are used to establish a new class of estimates of extreme value index. We prove T(F−1 n (1 − knt/n)) is consistent and asymp- totically normal estimate of extreme for any T member of the class....Název práce: Stochastická inference v modelu extrémních událostí Autor: Jan Dienstbier Katedra/Ústav: Katedra pravděpodobnosti a matematické statistiky Vedoucí doktorské práce: Doc. RNDr. Jan Picek, CSc., Technická Univerzita v Liberci Abstrakt: Práce se věnuje extremálním aspektům lineárních modelů. Obsahuje stručný výklad teorie extremálních hodnot a uvádí do problému lineárních modelů Yn×1 = Xn×pβp×1 + En×1 s chybami Ei ∼ F, i = 1, . . . , n, kde distribuční funkce F náleží do některé sféry extremální přitažlivosti. Pracujeme s regresními kvantily odvozenými v článku Koenker and Basset (1978) a ukazujeme jejich extremální vlastnosti. V práci probíráme vlastnosti této třídy...Katedra pravděpodobnosti a matematické statistikyDepartment of Probability and Mathematical StatisticsFaculty of Mathematics and PhysicsMatematicko-fyzikální fakult

Studium deformačních mechanismů v hořčíkové slitině s texturou pomocí pokročilých in-situ metod
Název práce: Studium deformačních mechanism· v hořčíkové slitině s texturou pomocí pokročilých in-situ metod Autor: Bc. Jan Dittrich Katedra: Katedra fyziky materiál· Vedoucí diplomové práce: RNDr. Peter Minárik, PhD., Katedra fyziky materiál· Abstrakt: Cílem předkládané práce je zkoumání vzájemného vztahu textury a ak- tivace jednotlivých deformačních mechanism· během deformace válcované hořčí- kové slitiny AZ31. Pozorování povrchu deformovaných vzork· vysokorychlostní kamerou poté umožnilo přímé a okamžité sledování náhlých proces·, k nimž během deformace docházelo. Výsledky provedených měření potvrdily očekávanou anizotropii mechanických vlastností vzork· r·zných orientací v·či experimentálně zjištěné textuře zkouma- ného...Title: Investigation of deformation mechanisms in textured magnesium alloy by advanced in-situ methods Author: Bc. Jan Dittrich Department: Department of Physics of Materials Supervisor: RNDr. Peter Minárik, PhD., Department of Physics of Materials Abstract: This thesis aims to investigate the correlation between texture and the activation of particular deformation mechanisms during the deformation of a rolled magnesium alloy AZ31. A combination of advanced in-situ techniques, providing complementary information about the processes within the material during its deformation, was employed to achieve this goal. The combination of neutron diraction and acoustic emission measurements allowed to investigate both rapid and continuous processes related to changes of the material microstructure resulting from its deformation. The in-situ loading of the sample inside the chamber of a scanning electron microscope, coupled with the electron backscatter diraction analysis, provided more direct observations of the microstructural evolution. Furthermore, the high-speed camera imaging of the deformed sample surface enabled a direct, real-time view of the occurring rapid processes. The results of the experiments conrmed the anisotropy of the mechanical behaviour of samples oriented diversely with respect to the...Department of Physics of MaterialsKatedra fyziky materiálůMatematicko-fyzikální fakultaFaculty of Mathematics and Physic
