Introduction: Leprosy reaction is an immunity declining reaction marked with inflammation which may cause permanent disability. Physical exercise may improve body’s immune system. Objective: To prove the effect of moderate-intensity physical exercise on the interleukin-6 level and lymphocyte count in leprosy reaction patient. Methods: The quasi-experimental research with pretest and posttest and a control group design used 30 respondents consisting of 14 interventions and 16 controls. The intervention group was given moderate-intensity physical exercise 60%-79% in the form of static cycle at a frequency of 4 times weekly, 150 minutes per week. Corticosteroid was always administered to the two groups as a standard therapy. The interleukin-6 level was measured using ELISA method and lymphocyte count was measured using hematology analyzer.Result: The Mann-Whitney analysis shows that the mean difference in IL-6 level between pretest and posttest with the intervention group (-7.1429±25.2369) is significantly lower than that of the control group (8.8125±11.2025), p<0.05. On the contrary, the Independent t-test analysis shows that the mean difference in lymphocyte count between pretest and posttest with the intervention group (0.7407±0.41236) is significantly higher than that of the control group (-0.4500±0.42415), p<0.05. Conclusion: Physical exercise at moderate intensity in the form of aerobics using static cycle at a frequency of 4 times weekly, with duration of 150 minutes per week decreases interleukin-6 level and increases lymphocyte count in leprosy reaction patient.Â

ALTRUISM EFFECT ON PURCHASE DECISION ON CONSUMER PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OF THE POOR Adryan Yudhistira Purwanto ([email protected]) Muhammad Jufri ([email protected]) Andi Nasrawaty Hamid ([email protected]) Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Negeri Makassar Jl. A. P. Pettarani, Makassar, 90222 ABSTRACT Adryan Yudhistira Purwanto, Muhammad Jufri, & Andi Nasrawaty Hamid. 2016. Influence of Altruism against the decision to buy the product of empowerment of the poor. Thesis. Makassar Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Makassar. Products that have a value or social impact on the poor would increase consumer purchasing decisions. This study aims to determine the influence of altruism on consumer purchasing decisions on products empowerment of the poor in Makassar. Subjects in this study were 51 consumers who ever bought a product of poor enforcement in Makassar selected using Accidental Sampling techniques. This study uses the Simple Linear Regression. The results showed that there was a positive influence on purchase decisions altruism (p = 0.016, Rsquare = 0.113). This research is helpful for employers to better organize and highlight the value or social impact of the products being marketed. Keyword: Purchase decisions, Altruism, Consume

Identification of FGF-dependent genes in the Drosophila tracheal system

The embryonic development of the tracheal system of the fruit fly Drosophila provides a paradigm for genetic studies of branching morphogenesis. Efforts of many laboratories have identified Branchless (Bnl, a fibroblast growth factor homologue) and Breathless (Btl, the receptor homologue) as crucial factors at many stages of tracheal system development. The downstream targets of the Bnl/Btl signalling cascade, however, remain mostly unknown. Misexpression of the bnl gene results in specific tracheal phenotypes that lead to larval death. We characterised the transcriptional profiles of targeted over-expression of bnl in the embryonic trachea and of loss-of-function bnl(PI) mutant embryos. Gene expression data was mapped to high-throughput in situ hybridisation based ImaGO-annotation. Thus, we identified and confirmed by quantitative PCR 13 Bnl-dependent genes that are expressed in cells within and outside of the tracheal system. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    Get PDF
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
