Tight Bounds on Online Checkpointing Algorithms
Get PDFThe problem of online checkpointing is a classical problem with numerous applications which had been studied in various forms for almost 50 years. In the simplest version of this problem, a user has to maintain k memorized checkpoints during a long computation, where the only allowed operation is to move one of the checkpoints from its old time to the current time, and his goal is to keep the checkpoints as evenly spread out as possible at all times.
At ICALP'13 Bringmann et al. studied this problem as a special case of an online/offline optimization problem in which the deviation from uniformity is measured by the natural discrepancy metric of the worst case ratio between real and ideal segment lengths. They showed this discrepancy is smaller than 1.59-o(1) for all k, and smaller than ln4-o(1)~~1.39 for the sparse subset of k's which are powers of 2. In addition, they obtained upper bounds on the achievable discrepancy for some small values of k.
In this paper we solve the main problems left open in the ICALP'13 paper by proving that ln4 is a tight upper and lower bound on the asymptotic discrepancy for all large k, and by providing tight upper and lower bounds (in the form of provably optimal checkpointing algorithms, some of which are in fact better than those of Bringmann et al.) for all the small values of k <= 10

The novel originated in Italian, was known as a novella in Jerman, and was then translated into English before traveling to Indonesia. Novels are also described as prose-based short stories. “Temukan Aku dalam Istikharahmu” a novel by Adi Rustandi, is the only sacred work published in 2014 by Jakarta, Zettu Cetakan. This book draws inspiration from Tokoh Rengganis, which is explained throughout the novel. The authors not only expresses his feelings, but also offers ideas and solutions to the current problem. The authors in the story of his life expresses his private spiritual guidance through a tokoh of a devout old man who depicts his spiritual life and connects him to his spiritual community with his god. This study is being conducted to understand the life at the bottom of the pyramid.Novel merupakan gambaran kehidupan yang dituangkan dalam sebuah karya sastra. No full textThis paper discusses three songs in the rani work ceremony at GBKP Runggun Tiga Juhar, STM Hulu sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency. Kerja rani is one of the ceremonies held on cultural week at GBKP Runggun Tiga Juhar. The rani work ceremony is one of the sources of church finances by collecting offerings and then conducting an auction. Some of the songs used in the rani work ceremony are Sendah kerja rani, Mbuah page, and Mejuah-juah. Sendah kerja rani is a song that must be sung because it is directly related to agriculture in the Karo tribe. While the other two songs, namely the songs Mbuah page and Mejuah-juah are taken from folk songs created by Djaga depari. This research aims to analyze the meaning of the text and the musical function of the three rani work ceremony songs. In answering the research objectives, the author uses the method of field work and desk work proposed by Bruno Netll. The theory used to answer the main problem in this paper is the semiotic theory pioneered by Roland Barthes, especially the meaning of denotation and connotation. The results of the study revealed that the rani work ceremony at GBKP Runggun Tiga Juhar is one way for the church to maintain culture and liven up the atmosphere of the ceremony. The three songs in the rani work ceremony have the process of the ceremony, the meaning of the text and its functions. PENDAMPINGAN PENULISAN ARTIKEL ILMIAH HASIL PENELITIAN BERBASIS PBL DAN PJBL
Get PDFMenulis sebuah artikel dari hasil penelitian menjadi salah satu hal baru bagi kelompok guru MGMP Kabupaten Mojokerto. Sebagian besar masih belum terbiasa menuliskan hasil penelitian yang berbasis penelitian tindakan kelas menjadi sebuah luaran berupa artikel yang dipublikasikan di jurnal ilmiah. Penulisan artikel ilmiah yang berdasarkan hasil penelitian guru, perlu disesuaikan dengan susunan atau format yang ditentukan oleh masing-masing jurnal luaran dengan tidak menghilangkan kaidah sebuat artikel ilmiah. Melalui kegiatan pendampingan yang dilakukan oleh kelompok dosen program studi pendidikan matematika Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya, diharapkan dapat membantu para guru di kelompok MGMP Kabupaten Mojokerto agar mengenal, memahami, dan terbiasa untuk menyusun hasil penelitian dalam bentuk artikel ilmiah. Kegiatan ini dilaksakan mulai tanggal 17 Oktober sampai dengan 17 Nopember 2022, yang pelaksanaannya dibagi menjadi 2 (dua) pertemuan. Pertemuan pertama, kelompok dosen memberikan materi terkait kaidah ilmiah yang diperlukan dalam penyusunan artikel berdasarkan hasil penelitian. Dari pertemuan pertama ini, seluruh peserta diwajibkan menyiapkan laporan hasil penelitian yang sudah pernah dilakukan. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pertemuan kedua dengan pendampingan penulisan artikel ilmiah yang disesuaikan dengan format pada jurnal. Pada pertemuan kedua ini, tim dosen membagi peserta menjadi 5 (lima) kelompok yang disesuaikan dengan bidang studi yang diampu oleh guru tersebut. Peserta kegiatan tidak hanya dari guru matematika, melainkan dari seluruh bidang studi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan wawasan pengetahuan dan pendampingan penulisan artikel ilmiah hasil penelitian guru. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah ceramah, diskusi, tanya jawab, dan pendampingan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah menghasilkan artikel ilmiah yang siap dipublikasi pada jurnal berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh guru. Kegiatan pelatihan ini sangat membantu para guru sebagai peserta untuk membuka wawasan dan mulai membiasakan diri untuk menyusun artikel yang baik dan benar sesuai kaidah ilmiah berdasarkan hasil penelitian tindakan kelas yang selama ini telah dilaksanakan oleh guru
