A condição bucal e o estado nutricional em três gerações

Programa de Pós-Graduação em OdontologiaEstudo em três gerações realizado em uma amostra de 162 participantes, divididos em 54 famílias, cada qual com seu avô, seu filho e seu neto. Além da avaliação bucal e nutricional, verificaram-se os hábitos alimentares e relacionados à saúde bucal. A análise estatística foi realizada por meio de testes de associação Qui-Quadrado e teste de kappa. Nos resultados, a associação entre a condição bucal e o estado nutricional nas diferentes gerações não foi encontrada. Quanto à concordância intrafamiliar, tanto na condição bucal como nos hábitos alimentares, observou-se significância estatística entre a geração adulta e a geração criança. Concluiu-se que a condição bucal, o estado nutricional e os hábitos referentes à saúde bucal e alimentar parecem ser influenciados pelo contexto familiar

Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Graphics calculators integration into curriculum
No full textThe effects of graphic calculators on the teaching and learning of mathematics depend on how this new technology is integrated into the curriculum. Current research shows that graphic calculators can enhance the learning of functions and graphing concepts and the development of spatial visualization skills (Penglase and Arnold, 1996). However, most studies do not give detailed information on the way the calculators were integrated into the curriculum. Three main integration phases are proposed: introduction, adaptation and consolidation. Each phase is characterized by the way the calculators are used by the students and the teacher, by the type of tasks that are done by them or proposed by the textbook and by the role played by graphic calculators in assessment. These integration phases depend strongly on how mathematical knowledge is seen by the different pedagogical agents and on the visions that the institution, the teacher and the textbook have on teaching, on learning and on the role of the graphic calculator in those processes. Results from a study presented here show the importance of taking into account these integration phases. An analysis is made on the way mathematical knowledge can be approached depending on how the technology is integrated into the curriculum
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

DOENÇA DE ADDISON: UM RELATO DE CASO
No full textO eixo hipotálamo-hipófise está relacionado a homeostase corporal atuando assim com uma ampla gama de hormônios. Um deles é o hormônio liberador de corticotropina (CRH), liberado pelo hipotálamo, que é responsável por estimular a liberação do hormônio corticotrófico (ACTH) que atua sobre as adrenais para promover a produção de hormônios como os glicocorticóides. A Doença de Addison é de etiologia variada podendo ser por infecção, tuberculose, causas genéticas ou até mesmo de origem auto-imune e é representada pela deficiência de glicocorticoides. Seus sintomas variam de náuseas, perda de peso até artralgias e mialgias graves, delírios, perda de memória e hiperpigmentação mucocultânea. Objetivo: O objetivo do trabalho foi relatar o caso de um paciente que deu entrada no hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia, em Anápolis, Goiás, com sinais e sintomas que indicavam insuficiência suprarrenal primária. Metodologia: Para a realização deste relato de caso, foi realizada análise de conteúdos retirados da base de dados Scielo e de livros. Também foi feita entrevista com o paciente e familiares, além da análise do prontuário do mesmo. Relato de experiência: JPS, 63 anos, sexo masculino, admitido no pronto socorro da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Anápolis em 15/04/2014, apresentava queixas de astenia, mialgia, hipotensão, entre outros. O paciente se mostrou lúcido e com bom estado geral porém havia a presença da hiperpigmentação mucocultânea, hipotensão e hiponatemia indicativos da Doença de Addison. Foram realizados exames que chegaram a tal diagnóstico e a partir daí se iniciou o tratamento com hidrocortisona dentre outros. Conclusão: O caso clínico apresentado foi diagnosticado como doença de Addison a partir dos antecedentes familiares, já que o paciente relatou outros casos da doença em parentes de primeiro grau. Outro fator que pode ter auxiliado no diagnóstico, foi a presença da tríade clássica de, hiperpigmentação, hipontensão e a hiponatremia
