Short-term peak load forecasting using PSO-ANN methods: the case of Indonesia
The purpose of this study was to investigate the model for predicting the
electricity load and usage in Indonesia. This study combined two artificial
intelligence methods, one is particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the other one
is artificial neural network (ANN). The combination of PSO and ANN (known
as hybrid particle swam optimization algorithm (HPSO-ANN)) is attempted to
obtain better short-term load forecasting accuracy, especially in the case of daily
peak electrical load forecasting. Daily peak loads were analyzed using data from
Indonesian state electricity company for West Java area in Indonesia from 2005
to 2012. Data were analyzed for every 30 minutes and classified into the types of
days (i.e., weekdays (Monday to Friday), weekend (Saturday to Sunday), and
national holidays). To measure the level of accuracy of the prediction, the
simulation results were compared with feed forward back propagation methods
and actual data from Indonesian power company. The HPSO-ANN method
provided the best results with an accuracy level above 98 percent. This analysis
provided information on how much waste of electrical energy could be reduced
by selecting the appropriate strategies in forecasting according to the load and
day characteristics
Prioritizing Safety Aspects: Advanced Multi-Criteria Decision-Making for Nuclear Power Plant Site Selection in Indonesia
Indonesia's energy needs must be met by clean and sustainable energy sources, such as nuclear energy, to achieve the net-zero emission target. A critical issue after the Indonesian government decided to use nuclear energy is the decision-making problem of selecting the most suitable location for a nuclear power plant. This study integrates two methods of multi-criteria decision-making. First, the Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process and second the Fuzzy-Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution. Both methods are used to determine the most suitable nuclear power plant location according to safety aspects. The first method is used to determine the priority order of criteria, while the second method is used for ranking alternative locations. Eleven aspects related to safety based on references validated by ten Indonesian nuclear experts through focus group discussion activities are geology, geotechnics, seismology, population density, meteorology, topography, hydrology, cooling water, land use, proximity to hazardous, proximity to wetland, evacuation route, and environment. Meanwhile, the East Kalimantan and West Kalimantan provinces are the two prospective nuclear power plant locations. The analysis results using the first method show that the order of the highest priority criteria for the safety aspect are geology, geotechnics, seismology, population density, and environment. Meanwhile, the second method recommends the West Kalimantan provinces as the most suitable nuclear power plant location, with a preference value of 0.5675. The results of integrating two methods for determining the most suitable site for a nuclear power plant from a safety aspect show that advanced multi-criteria decision-making efficiently and accurately reduces decision bias based on expert opinion

The implementation of 5E learning cycle model-based inquiry to improve students’ learning achievements
The research aimed at implementing the 5E learning cycle model-based inquiry to improve
students’ learning achievements on static fluid. This study used a pre-experimental research method promoting one group pre-test and post-test design. The samples were 30 students from a senior high school,
using a purposive sampling technique. The data were collected by measuring the cognitive using essays,
measuring for affective by using the Likert scale, and by using observation for psychometrics. The results
showed that the means for teachers’ and students’ activities were 91% and 87%, respectively, which were
classified as really good categories. The increase in the students’ learning achievements was shown for
cognitive with n-gain of 0.41 (medium category), for cognitive: 76% (good category), and psycho-motor:
71% (good category). The study used the statistical t-test: Paired Two Sample for Means with tcount > ttable
(15.529 > 2.042). Thus, the study concluded that the 5E learning cycle model-based inquiry can be used as
an alternative choice to improve students’ learning achievements on static flui
Choosing the best investment for muslims according to shariah
Investment is owning one or more assets and usually long term with the hope of gaining profit in the future. The return earned must be proportional to the risk of losses on assets. That is, the higher the risk of assets the higher the expected return of the asset. The purpose of this study is to determine the difference of rate of risk on Islamic stock, Islamic mutual fund, sukuk, 3 months of mudharabah deposit, gold, and property period 2008-2016. It uses quantitative approach by using Kruskal-Wallis test. The sample collecting method used is purposive sampling. This study used secondary data that was collected from official websites of Indonesia Stock Exchange, PT BNP Paribas, Indosat Ooredoo, Bank Syariah Mandiri, Price Gold, and Residential Property Price Index on Makassar. Data used was historical data. The result Kruskal-Wallis test show that there was significant difference of rate of risk on Islamic Stock, Islamic Mutual Fund, Sukuk, Mudharabah deposit, Gold and Property. The result of this study proved that Islamic Stock is better than another type of investments

Executive compensation and risk: An empirical study in Indonesia
This study investigates the relationship between executive compensation and risk for banks in Indonesia over the period 2010–2013, with 374 observations. The risk of banks was measured by non-performing loans that implicated loan risk. Non-performing loans were the dependent variable and executive compensation was the independent variable. Firm size, firm age, and capital asset ratio were the control variables. The result of the study indicated that executive compensation, firm age, and capital asset ratio had a negative effect on risk and firm size had a positive effect on risk.
This chapter investigates the relationship between executive compensation and risk for banks in Indonesia over the period 2010–2013, with 374 observations. The banking institution is a financial institution that acts as an intermediary between excess funds and those who need funds. In a banking institution, the achievement of management can be shown through the way management anticipates business risks. Bank owners reward executives in the form of a compensation which has shown an increase. Credit risk is one of the risks faced by a bank. It is the non-payment of loans that have been given to debtors. According to, credit risk is a risk due to failure or inability of customers to re-turn the loan amount received from the bank and its interest within the specified time period. A higher Capital Adequacy Ratio value of bank shows a better capital position of the bank, because it has sufficient capital to anticipate potential losses caused by operational activities
