Effect of different drying method on antioxidant capacity and total flavonoid contents of Artocarpus Heterophyllus Lam. (Jackfruit) leaf extract / Abdul Muqit Abdul Waled@Suhaimi
Artocarpus spp was identified to have numerous biological activity through an in vitro and in vivo pharmacological studies and these elucidated by the phenolic compounds such as flavonoids, stilbenoids, arylbenzofurons that present in different of plant parts. Mainly in the actual studies and reviews on the antioxidant capability of natural product focus more on the characteristics of the
measurement procedure for instance free radical generating system, redox process and hydrophilic solubility. Nevertheless, the vital steps such as preparation of sample or the procedure for extraction of antioxidants compound were not concentrated critically. Thus far, less attention in systematic analysis of the effects of different drying methods on the total flavonoid content and
antioxidant activity of Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam (jackfruit) leaf extract. This study is aim to determine the effects of different drying methods on the phenolic and flavonoid content and the antioxidant capacity of Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam (jackfruit) leaf aqueous and ethanolic extract. Jackfruit leaves were subjected to three different drying methods such as, sun drying, oven drying and air drying. The weight loss of the oven-dried, sun-dried and airdried samples will be recorded at time intervals and the drying experiments will be conducted in triplicate. Drying process were be stop when no significant changes in three consecutive weight. 10% aqueous and 70% ethanol extraction was chosen in these experiments to obtain a crude extract of freeze dry powder and dark-green viscous mass crude extract from rotary evaporation. Analysis of
total phenolic and flavonoid contents as well as its antioxidant capacity and ferric reducing power of jackfruit leaf extract were then determined. The total phenolic content (TPC) of ethanolic and aqueous extracts was significantly different as affected by different drying treatments, with air dried and oven dried produce slightly decrease in TPC and antioxidant activity as demonstrated by the reduction in both free radical scavenging activity of DPPH and lowering the FRAP values. Oven dried extract causing the highest decrease in TPC and antioxidant activity. However, sun dried jackfruit leaves extracts possessed a high TPC and antioxidant activity compared to the air and oven drying hence suggesting that sun dried methods is the most preferable method for processing
Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam (jackfruit) leaves in order to preserve the antioxidant properties, phenolic content as well as total flavonoids content
JAVANESE WOMEN'S SELF-ESTEEM AND GENDER EQUALITY DEPICTED IN THE NOVEL “BEKISAR MERAH”
The data reveal the Javanese women's Self-Esteem and Gender Equality Depicted in the Novel "Bekisar Merah" . the Jaavnese women are idnetified by their soft behaviours and attitudes for others. Such these behaviours and attitudes reflect their personality in every interraction. for the family bond, tey are characterized by simple and natural, loyal to their husbands, love their parents, adaptive with any situation, religious and having sacred pride. although they have such nice attitude and behaviour, they are not be in a week position. to show this, they show their reaction of their husbands who betray their love. They can have a dynamic decision by leaving their husband for getting freedom when their self-esteem is colonized by their love. The novelty of this article lies in the m ovel of gender strugg;le of the Javanese women in which they do not use wors but they do actions. gender equality for thwe Javanese women is seen from their actions not from words
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
The review of the socio-political fiction novels under binary opposition and logocentrism (case study of novel entitled "Orang-Orang Proyek" by Ahmad Tohari)
The socio-political fiction novel is real and presents an implicit portray of the community\u27s social life of a dwell. This sort of literature is less prevalent because every reader might have their perception while the authors favor particular value according to their social and mental experiences. An Indonesian novel entitled "Orang-Orang Proyek" by Ahmad Tohari, which represents the real condition of the Indonesian community under their political and social situations, is a perfect portray to describe the relation between binary opposition and logocentrism. Both theories will affect the author how they describe each character, even decide how the story ends. This paper tries to break down that literary work using the deconstructive-reading method to read a text with multi-interpretation where the version contains many probabilities of meaning. This study will provide insight into the correct reading method according to the purpose and type of literacy used in literary works
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
