    Leaf Extract of Avicennia marina as an Antibacterial and Natural Preservative of Fresh Euthynus Affinis

    The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of the leaf extract of the Avicennia marina as an antibacterial and natural preservatives to prolong the shelf life of the fish. The method used is the experimental method completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial, consisting of treatment concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% extract, positive control, and negative control. A number of bacterial colonies were analyzed by Anava and Duncan test (JNTD) at the level of 0.05. The results showed that the decline in the number of bacterial colonies on the treatment of 20% extract (P4) during the storage period of 12 hours and 24 hours of 34 and 37 colonies. Physical testing best fish in the extract 20% during the storage period of 12 hours of the appearance of clear eyes, skin taut, red gills, meat chewy and dense consistency. Organoleptic testing showed 20% extract treatment is much preferred by the panelists for aroma, flavor, color and texture of the fish is still very fresh. Based on the results of the study concluded that the use of Avicennia marina leaf extract is effective as an antibacterial and a natural preservative on the Euthynus affinis at a concentration of 20

    Improving Scientific Generic Skills Through Implementation of Model SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, and Share) in Concept of Classification of Living Things in MTsN Model Banda Aceh

    Search, solve, create and share (SSCS) learning model can help students to evolve some generic skills namely spoken, coorporation, and problem solving skills. Those skills are the aspects of assessment to evaluate the achievement of teaching learning process that implements SSCS models. The study was aimed to determine the increase in student achievement, scientific generic skills, and correlation between the skills and the learning outcomes of students of class VII of MTsN Model Banda Aceh in 2013 in concept of classification of living things throught implementing SSCS model. The study used experimental method with randomized control group pretest - posttest design . The study used two classes experimental-group and control-group classes chosen according to pretest scores. Data was collected pretest, posttest and scientific generic assessment The results showed that the value of tcount ttable (5,8 1,6). This indicated that there was a significant increase in students learning outcome. The value of t-count of communication aspect (1), coorporation aspect (2,7), and problem solving skills (3,4). The correlation among communication , cooperation and problem solving skills was high ( r = 0,7). Therefore it can be concluded that there were increases in student achievement and scientific generic skills and correlation between scientific generic skills and cognitive student learning outcomes except communication aspect

    Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI-IPA2 pada materi sistem pernapasan di SMA Negeri I Sigli. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus, masing-masing siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu: perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Sigli kabupaten Pidie pada bulan Februari- Mei Tahun 2014. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi dan tes. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif development. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa SMA Negeri I Sigli kelas XI- IPA6 semester II Tahun 2013/2014 berjumlah 30 orang yang terdiri dari 10 siswa laki-laki dan 20 siswa perempuan. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa butir-butir soal, sedangkan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara tes hasil belajar dengan perlakuan dua siklus. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada materi sistem respirasi kelas X1-IPA2 SMA Negeri I Sigli melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT. Peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dari skor dasar ke siklus 1 dan siklus II juga mengalami perubahan. Rata-rata hasil belajar meningkat dari 54 menjadi 70,50 dan 82,66. Jumlah siswa yang memenuhi KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal) bertambah dari 3 siswa (10%) menjadi 19 siswa (63,33%) dan 26 siswa (90%). Pencapaian hasil belajar secara klasikal sudah melampaui 85% pada siklus ke II. Kondisi ini menunjukkan hasil belajar siswa telah berkategori tinggi.     The Effect of Type Biochar and Agrodyke Fertilizer Concentration on the Growth of Seedling of Mahoni (Swietenia macrophylla King.)

    The study has been done to determine the effect of various types of biochar and consentration of agrodyke fertilizer on the growth of mahoni seedlings.The study used block randomized factorial design which were types of biochar (B) as the first factor, namely: soil + imperata cylindrica charcoal (B1), soil + coconut husk charcoal (B2), Soil + charcoal of sawdust (B3), and agrodyke fertilizer concentration as the second factor (A), namely: 0 g polybag-1 (A0), 25 g polybag-1 (A1), 50 g polybag-1 (A2), 75 g polybag-1 (A3) as other factors. Each treatment was replicated three times. The results showed that all types of biochar have increased in plant height and number of leaves mahoni seedlings significantly at 40, 60, and 80 days after weaning (DAW). Various concentration of Agrodyke fertilizer have affected considerably on plant height and number of leaves at 40 and 60 days after weaning (DAW) and root length at 80 days after weaning (DAW). However, there were no significant effects of types of biochar and various concentration of agrodyke fertilizer on all parameters. Biochar Soil+Charcoal Sawdust (B3) and 75 g of agrodyke fertilizer polibag-1 (A3) have produced the best growth rate of mahoni seedling

    Extracts of Papaya Leaf And Castor Seed Potential as Insecticides Against Crocidolomia Pavonana (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) on Broccoli

    Crocidolomia binotalis is the main pest on broccoli by feeding the leaves causing damage by 100% (Dono Rismanto, 2008). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests Department of Agrotechnology Faculty of Agriculture Univerrsity of Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh from January to December 2014. The aim was to investigate the effectiveness of mixture of extract of papaya leaf and castor beans on mortality of C. pavonana mortality. The study used completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed that the mortality of larvae has reached up to 90 % and feeding inhibition was 91.04%, decrease in the pupae stage 56.67% and imago 46.67% compared to other lower treatments

    UJI ANTIMIKROBA EKSTRAK BUAH SALAK (Salacca edulis) TERHADAP BAKTERI Escherichia coli

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak buah salak terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri E. coli. Isolat bakteri E. coli yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Syiah Kuala. Buah salak (Salacca edulis) varietas salak pondoh super yang berusia tiga bulan setelah perbungaan diperoleh dari perkebunan salak di Sabang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen laboratorium jenis kuantitatif menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang dibagi dalam 7 kelompok, yaitu 5 kelompok perlakuan (ekstrak etanol buah salak terhadap bakteri E. coli) dan 2 kelompok kontrol yaitu menggunakan aquades (kontrol negatif) dan streptomisin (kontrol positif). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan ANOVA (analyses of variance) kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji Jarak Nyata Terdekat Duncan (JNTD) pada taraf kepercayaan 0,05%, dan terdapat perbedaan yang nyata antar perlakuan. Hasil uji antimikroba menunjukkan ekstrak buah salak mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri E. coli. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak buah salak mengandung berbagai senyawa aktif seperti tanin, flavonoid, dan alkaloid. Zona hambat tertinggi diperoleh pada konsentrasi 100%, yaitu rata-rata diameter 18,783 mm. Tetapi zona hambat yang terbentuk pada kontrol positif lebih lebar, yaitu rata-rata diameter 31,367 m

    The Environment-Based Learning to Improve Students Achievement on the Concepts of Spermatophyte Diversity

    The objective of the study is to evolve student achievement on the concept of spermatophyte diversity through environment-based learning. The study was conducted at MAN Rukoh Banda Aceh by implementing environment-based learning through Pre-test and Pos-test group. The population was students of class X year 2013/2014 consisting of 6 parallel classes. The sample was Class X-1 consisting of 28 students. Data was analysed persentage and t-test. The results showed that there was significant improvement of students achievement (t-count t-table, or 2,499 2.051). It can be concluded that there was significant increases in student achievement by implementing environment-based learning on the concept of spermatophyte diversit

    Analysis of techniques of raising questions of teachers to evolve student thinking skill leading to improve student achievement

    The study was aimed to determine the description and classification of questions, distribution of questions raised by teachers, capability of teachers and the techniques, and the effect of the techniques on student achievement. The method was quantitative descriptive. The data was collected from 1 st April to 30th 2013 in 14 junior high schools in Banda Aceh throught pretest and posttest . Moreover, teachers were given sheets of observation of questioning teachnique, records of teaching learning activity, and questionare. Data was analysed descriptivelly and by using regretion-correlation analysis. The results showed that in terms of knowlegde aspect, only 25,53 % of the total teachers had skill to evolve student thinking skill, 2,16 % (cognitive aspect), and 4,32 % (scientific psychomotoric skill). Furthermore, it has been found that the questions were not spread evenly and only 53,33 % of the total teachers had the capability in improving student thinking skill throught questions. The techniques were probing (13,33 %) and redirecting (86,67 %). Moreover, the persentage of total teachers who have raised questions in good criteria was 13,33 and only 1,48 % of the total teachers who had the technique contributing in improvement of student achievement (less correlation)

    MODEL KOOPERATIF JIGSAW UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR KOGNITIF PADA MATERI PENCEMARAN DAN KERUSAKAN LINGKUNGAN

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada materi pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan melalui penerapan model kooperatif tipe jigsaw. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental semu dengan desain Pretest-Post-test Control Group. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelompok eksperimen kelas VII-3 dan kelompok kontrol kelas VII-4. Populasi adalah siswa MTsN Kuta Baro Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pretes dan postes dan dianalasisi dengan analisis data gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif pada kelas experimen adalah kategori rendah 30% dan sedang 70 %, sedangkan pada pembelajaran konvensional adalah kategori rendah 57%, sedang 42%. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan dengan model kooperatif tipe jigsaw lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan hasil yang dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional
