    IDENTIFIKASI SPESIES RAYAP PERUSAK TANAMAN JARAK PAGAR (Jatropha curcas L.)

    Castor bean (J. Curcas L.)can be used for biodiesel material as an alternative to fossil fuels. One of the problems in the cultivation oft his plant is the existence of termite pest. The purpose of this research is to identify termites species that have destructive potencial to castor plants in KIJP Pakuwon. The research was conducted from January to December 2009. As amount of 90 observed stations installed in this area, then divided into three blocks with of each block contained 30 observed station.The distance between each observed station was 20 meters. The termites species that had been collected in every observed station then put in bottles containing 70 percent ethanol and identified its characteristic at Insect Taxonomy Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection, Bogor Agricultural University. Research results showed a numbers of termites species that have potencial destruction to castor plants were Macrotermes sp., Schedorinotermes sp., Microtermes spand Odntotermes sp. Macrotermes sp. was the most dominant species in KIJP Pakuwon

    This research aim to to know : ( 1). Live cycle of A. nilotica, ( 2). Sspreading and Seed production in BNP, ( 3). Potency of A. nilotica as species bioprosfektif, and ( 4) Stand structure of A. nilotica in BNP.Research method used to know cycle live, spreading and seed production in BNP and the done conducted stand structure with direct perception in field. Produce seed used a square method having a nest counted 10 fruit by using plastic. obtained stand structure data with madely is permanent square for the width of 20 m x 20 m of counted 15 fruit, and at each square measured by a diameter and high counted 10 tree. While data to know potency A. nilotica as species biprospektif obtained from data relevant secunder with problems checked.Conclusion from this research is : (1). There are six cycle step live A. nilotica that is seed corps, seedling, juvinile, adult, flower, and seed in pod, ( 2). Production of seed/tree at age 3 year gyrate 506seed/tree. : (3).     Model are a physical medium used to deliver educational content educational materials that can stimulate students to learn. One of the model that can be used in learning, especially learning the human respiratory system are the model of scrap materials. The research was conducted in South Aceh regency Sawang MAN. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in academic achievement and student responses to the use of model used ingredient in explaining the human respiratory system in Sawang MAN South Aceh regency. The subject of this study was all students in grade XI IPA-1 MAN Sawang South Aceh district, school year 2010/2011. The design of this study is Classroom Action Research (PTK). Instruments used in this study is Teacher Observation Sheet (LOG), Student Observation Sheets (LOS), test (pre-test and post-test), and questionnaire responses of students. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that an increase in student achievement based on the thoroughness of student learning both individually and classical indication of the success of student learning based on test results (pre-test and post-test), t test analysis, as well as the positive response of students towards learning with use props material scrap materials on the human respiratory system.     The Use of Multiple Models in Environmental concepts in SMA Negeri 4 Bireuen. Research purpose is to know the process of learning outcomes through the use of Multi-model on the concept of Environment. The approach used was qualitative descriptive approach types of Class Actions. This study used two cycles with four components, namely planning (planning), action (acting), observation (observing) and reflection (reflecting). Subjects in this study were students in grade lesson X.1 2008/2009 amounted to 36 people. The instrument used was the test at the end of each cycle. To find out the improvement process and the thoroughness of learning, percentage formula is used. The results showed that 44, 44% who have attained completeness in cycle 1. Cycle II obtained by the thoroughness of 88.89%. Students generally respond positively to learning. It is suggested that the use of multiple models can be used on other concepts in the biology of learning to encourage students in learning

    The research about the trial of mosquitoes as the vector of filariasis which are endemic area of filariasis in three area district of Pidie have been done from August until Desember 2007. The aim of this research is to determinate and to know how the spesies of mosquitoes becoming the vector of filariasis in the endemic area in three area district of Pidie. The research was used the exploration methods and the taking of sample was done purposively. The result of the research was founded the larva in mosquitos body, with the infection rate is 0,91%, and based on the result of identification that have been done, the mosquito is Culex quinquefasciatus. The result catching is also founded five kind of mosquitoes that have been reported as the natural vector of filariasis that are Culex annulirostris, Aedes aegypti, Anopheles subpictus, Anopheles barbirostris, and Anopheles vagus

    Pola Pertumbuhan Kerang Mangrove Geloina erosa Kawasan Ekosistem Mangrove Pesisir Barat Kabupaten Aceh Besar

    Geloina erosa as one of Bivalve species has growth and development comprising the proliferation of the shell length, volume, and body weight. Generally, the growth of G. erosa has negative allometric, isometric and positive allometric fashion. This encourages the study of G. erosa living in the region of mangrove ecosystem of west-coast of Aceh Besar. The objectives of the research are to determine the growth pattern of shell length against body weight as well as the growth pattern of shell length against its total body weight. The research was conducted from February 2006 to January 2007 in the region of mangrove ecosystem of west-coast of Aceh Besar. The region was divided into three different locations. Each location was set a sample square with 10m x 10m in size which was perpendicular to coastal lines. There were 10 sub-squares also set in every sample square with 50cm x 50cm in size. Sample collection in the sub-square was carried out by scratching and disturbing the bottom of the waters in order to sieve them. G. erosa was then measured for its shell length, body weight, and total body weight. The growth pattern was analyzed by using Excel program and t-test. The result showed that a negative allometric growth pattern was found in the measurement of shell length against total body weight of G. erosa, whereas an isometric pattern was found of the measurement of shell length against its body weight. Moreover, a positive allometric pattern was figured out in the measurement of shell length against total body weight. The proliferation of shell length, body weight and total body weight has contributed approximately 58% to 59%. This indicates that the growth pattern of G. erosa in the region of mangrove ecosystem of west-coast of Aceh Besar has negative allometric, isometric and positive allometric fashion

    COMPOSITION AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF CRUDE EXTRACTS AND ESSENTIAL OIL OF Callistemon viminalis LEAVES

    Antimicrobial activity of crude extracts and essential oil of Callistemon viminalis against several pathogenic bacteria and one yeast (Candida albicans) were assessed using sensitivity test and MIC determination test. Hexane extract showed the strongest antibacterial activity compared with other crude extracts. While essential oil of C. viminalis in particular showed strong anticandidal activity. GC-MS analysis of crude hexane extract and essential oil have identified the presence of eucalyptol, -pinene, -phellandrene and D-limonene as active antimicrobial compounds in all analyzed samples

    This research aim to know : (1). species of grass eaten by deer and species of grass predominating area of savannah Bekol. (2). Species eaten by bull, and (3). Factors causing downhill it quality of savannah Bekol. Method used for inventories of species eaten by deer and bull is method of transek combined with method square. While to collect data of factors causing downhill it quality of savannah of Bekol with direct perception in field and muster relevant information from data sekunder. The conclusion from this research is (1). Found 12 species of grass eaten by deer, and 3 species among others as dominant species that is bayapan (Brachiaria reptans), red lamuran (Dichantium coricosum), and tuton (Dactyloctenium aegyptium). (2). found 50 species as food of bull in savannah Bekol from 60 of species of compiler savannah of this area. (3). Factors influencing reduction of quality of savannah in Bekol is : Invasion A. nilotia, bush groaning savannah, existence of tread by animal, fire effect, and over grazing
