Developing knowledge management in law firm to compete with other law firms within asean region in asean economics community environment
Abstract. The purpose – The purpose of this research is to formulate a proper KM program which can be used and implemented by Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (HPRP) on its day to day business in order to improve its performance and competitive advantage in the incoming AEC market. Business Issue – The declaration of ASEAN Economic Community will increase investment within ASEAN, from European, America also Middle East countries and make ASEAN region become the most prospective market in the world. This condition will be followed by the expansion of foreign law firms to Indonesia to protect their client’s investment in ASEAN region. With their international experiences and expertise for more than 50 years handling cases or projects world-wide, and also capital, independent Indonesian law firms will face the following obstacles in achieving their business goals in the AEC market: (i) Short of good and experienced human resources; (ii) clients which more prefer to engage foreign affiliated law firm who has more experiences and capabilities handling international transaction; and (iii) pricing competition. This condition urgently need to be noticed by partners as management in law firm as well as all lawyers, so it can compete with other law firms in the AEC environment and increase its performances and competitive advantage in the AEC environment on the following years. Design/methodology/approach – Qualitative research id used as the methods in this research, by using interview and questionnaires to collect data. In this research the data collected through: 1. Interview process to partners, lawyers, managers of HPRP, and clients of HPRP in order to obtain more perspective and to find out the main problem in this research. 2. The questionnaires were distributed to all lawyers of HPRP and it’s used as a tool to collect and record information related with the current and expectation condition of knowledge management implementation in HPRP. Findings – Based on the analysis of current condition of HPRP related to KM implementation for variable of people, process and technology, it was found that HPRP is still lacking in the dimension on each variables which were contributed to the decreasing of the performance of HPRP. By using “the Five Steps Knowledge Management Implementation†concept from Garfield this research produce the appropriate KM formulation related to the conditions of HPRP. This KM formulation will be used in HPRP by emphasizing to increase the KM awareness, lawyers competencies and HPRP knowledge sharing as the KM Objectives. Keywords – Law Firm, KM Program, KM Implementation.Â
Key Performance Indicators Selection for PT. Len Railway System (LRS), Bandung, Indonesia
Abstract – Performance measurement for PT. Len Railway Systems (LRS) still not setup since it had been spin off from their main PT. Len Industri. The main objectives of this study  are the following: i) to identify key performance indicators that affect the LRS performance; ii) to introduced a framework for key performance indicators (KPIs); and iii) to examine the weight and linkage of each KPIs to the organization performance. The results from questionnaire were used to develop a eight performance indicators. Then, there are categorized into three parts regarding IPMS framework; resource capability, internal process and organization results. Moreover, the eight indicators will be cascaded into the business and managerial level indicators for them to understand what are the activities to be done to achieve organization goals. Experts from their organization participated in the process of confirmation the weight of each indicators and linkage process. Next, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) had been used to reconfirm back the important and linkage of those KPIs selected to the organization objectives. Besides, the implementation plan is to start documented all the KPIs data from January until December 2016, then, there are two options for them at the end of year 2016; either to continue this proposed study by developing information technology system (ITS) for these KPIs in the future or review again the KPIs and framework proposed. Nevertheless, this study offered to other researchers for further discussion and research in other perspectives that can be cooperated together as one objective to improve company performance. Keywords: performance management system, key performance indicator
My Len App The New Spirit of Len for Industry 4.0 to Connect Branding, Marketing Communication, and Selling in One Integrated Digital Platform
Abstract. This study aims to author want to find an integrated interactive media that can connect branding, marketing communications, and selling to accelerate LEN's business processes. Qualitative methods with secondary data are used to analyze the right marketing tools for LEN. Weak information system performance. The data is scattered so that web-based information systems have not been integrated. LEN's current existence wants all aspects to be focused on an integrated information system. The results of this research are developing a tool called My Len App, a new spirit of LEN for industry 4.0. My Len App aims to create brand awareness, invites the participation of consumers to engage with LEN business activities, and share their experiences with others in applications and social media. In developing this mobile application, author adopted six human attributes to create a human-centric business platform to adapt to current market practices as described in the concept of marketing 4.0. The economics of production factors and operational cost in medium businesses in bandung: hospitality, restaurant and beauty center
Abstract - The Government’s decision to raise the Basic Electricity Tariffs (BET) turns out according to party sequence is caused due to PLN from fuel price hike are getting bounced. When fuel prices go up automatically the operational cost increased so that the budget of PLN funds allocated to operating costs is insufficient. The existence of the phenomenon of increasing the fuel price, Basic Electricity Tariffs (BET) and Regional Minimum Wage (RMW) greatly affect corporate business then the author doing research on these three factors associated with the Operational Cost especially in MICE and tourism industry in Bandung. In this research, external and internal analysis is used to determine the economics situational conditions. The data are collected from ABC Hotel, DEF Restaurant, and GHI Beauty Center. The company size analysis is also used to determine which company`s category that can reflect MICE and Tourism industry`s condition. In order to find the effect of BET, RMW, and Oil price to operational cost. After doing every analysis, there is a finding that BET and RMW are have significantly positive effect with operational cost in MICE and tourism industry in Bandung. In order to reduce the operational cost in MICE and tourism industry, using the technology of electricity component such as LED light, Inverter AC, and LED TV could reduce the electricity cost significantly. Furthermore, in order to reduce RMW`s cost, force planning is used. The effect of using those ways could reduce RMW`s cost significantly. Regression analysis shows that BET has significantly positive effect to operational cost while RMW and gasoline price have no effect in ABC Hotel. In DEF Restaurant, there are no variables have positive effect. In GHI Beauty center BET and RMW have significantly positive effect to operational cost while gasoline price has no effect. In order to reduce Operational Cost, a new strategy is needed for each company. With new strategy, ABC Hotel could reduce Operational Cost as amount as 795 billion rupiah and GHI Beauty Centre could reduce Operational Cost as amount as 120 billion rupiah. Keywords: MICE, Tourism, Operational Cost, BET, RMW, Fuel Pric
Starting Up A Home Cooking Meal Industry
Abstract - Tana Catering is a home catering industry innovation startup created by Miranti Wahjudi that serves good home cooking meals daily for busy women with a family to look after. A startup begins from an idea that should be able to offer new values that would attract a market by solving issues. A startup cannot be treated like an established company; it wouldn’t have the strong basis to implement the tools for a company. For startups, the Customer Development framework was developed by Steve Blank. This framework was designed to guide startups for more promising results. Tana Catering applied this framework in its development process. The framework consisted of searching a business model and executing it. The whole process will involve a lot of trial and error testing. This method will give fast factual information to guide the startup in making the right decisions. Tana Catering had developed a business model with the framework’s guide. It is now scaling up the market and standardizing activities to make it possible to evolve into a company. It had grown its subscribers to more than one thousand in less than eight months. New business strategy to improve the enterprise resources planning (erp) system in order to increase the performance and efficiency of the operational maintenance program: case of chevron indonesia
Abstract— Since last year the oil and gas industry in grim conditions. Almost all companies in difficult conditions as a result of oil and gas prices were low. Even today a giant oil companies like Exxon, Chevron, Shell and others also began to be affected. Chevron, the current was devastated because the company is focused on upstream business where oil reserves are available today are secondary and tertiary reserves. Investment in the exploration of oil and gas reserves of the secondary and tertiary very expensive because it requires a modern and sophisticated technology. Unsuccessful drilling activity will result in tremendous losses in some oil and gas fields. External factors also affect the company in how to run a business; local government permits, issue a contract extension, the discovery of shale gas, and global economic conditions greatly affect the company to make the best strategy. These conditions forced the company to reduce exploration activities and focus more on production. Production is the most economical series in the upstream business chain. Crude oil is a commodity, the competition occurs in differentiating the company to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the business. Companies must also adhere to the existing rules so as to build the confidence of the shareholders. Efficiency through the development of organizations that are into is a must, if not then Chevron would not survive in competition with rivals. To create a sustainable competitive advantage, Chevron should remain sustainably strengthen the factor that differentiates it from its competitors. Technology as a differentiator to be able to enhance the company's core competencies, thus making a positive impact on the company's core business. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is essential to be able to be a tool that is capable of integrating the functions of important business. Module EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) is part of the ERP system and as part closest to the Operation Maintenance and should be able to support the maintenance business in order to achieve better business efficiency and effectiveness through increased system reliability, capability (usability and functionality) and sophisticated reporting system. In other words, implementation of ERP systems In other words, implementation of ERP systems and specifically to the EAM module will be able to optimize production by reducing the LPO (Lost Production Opportunity). Proposal business strategies to increase investment in ERP are: 1. Revision JDE governance in Indo Asia Business Unit and IT support Team, 2. Build a Business Intelligence as a solution for reporting requirements, 3. Realize the JDE upgrade project to improve the reliability and capabilities of the system, 4. Implement Viziya to strengthen the maintenance scheduling system, 5. Conduct regular visits to customers, holding gatherings for Power Users, and training regularly. Some of the proposed strategies have been approved by the management of Chevron Indonesia, while several other strategies are still in the approval process. Proposed Business Strategy for Inditex Global
Abstract - Rising prosperity and a spread of wealth have given a huge and expanding market for textiles and clothing industry. Market are expanding and so the competition. Inditex as a leader in the industry seek this opportunity to increase its standing among the top player of this industry. With its “fast fashion†model, Inditex has been performed exceptionally well, proofed by its huge channel of 1,700 stores in 86 countries leaving behind its main rival like GAP and H&M. However the success not last long. Contrast with rapid expansion several years before, in 2013 annual sales report Inditex began showing sign of slowdown. For the last few years, company has been aimed to find new source of profit due to shrinking growth. The aim of this study is to find out the root cause behind the slowdown and to formulate the strategy to tackle the problem and enhance the growth of Inditex. This study is divided into four chapters. The first chapter talks about the outlines of the research background and highlight the objective of the study. Chapter two talk about business issue and the analysis of business environment. Chapter three provides the business solution alternatives. Last chapter discusses the application and practice of the solution. It highlights the execution of the business strategy on four aspect; marketing, finance, research & development (R&D), and management information system. Economic analysis of the underground coal gasification (ucg) in Indonesia
Abstract. Indonesia has been facing dramatic changes in natural gas industry development, which contributes to economic prosperity and reduces reliance on petroleum fuels. Indonesia's gas markets will continually growth to support economy development. Resources availability and government eagerness to utilise more on natural gas will lead Indonesia to become one of the major gas consumers in the future. This is the potential market for natural gas industry and also an opportunity for natural gas Company to accelerate the company's business growth. This study aims to identify conditions that might occur in the natural gas business industry in Indonesia for the next five years using a scenario planning approach. This is very useful to anticipate possible implications that will arise on the natural gas industry, so that PT. Natural Gas (“PNG”) can prepare business solutions for conditions that might occur. This scenario planning process started by exploring the natural gas industry condition in Indonesia using the SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat). To be more profound, external environment analysis done by Porter five forces and PESTEL (Politic, Economy, Social, Technology, Environment and Legal) analysis methods, while the internal analysis uses the VRIN (Valuable, Rare, Inimitable, Non substitutable) method. All of these analyses were used to understand how PNG run the businesses, why, where, and when. Based on the results of business analysis and conducting interviews with those who directly involved in the natural gas industry, two key driving forces that greatly affected the natural gas business in Indonesia were found, namely infrastructure and natural gas prices. From here, four scenarios arise about the natural gas industry possible condition in Indonesia. Finally, a strategy recommendation appears that is suitable to be applied for each possible condition. Things that needs to be done is to conduct an external conditions evaluation continuously and identify signals that arise from the external factors and focus on trends that occur compared to signpost in each scenario.Keyword: Scenario planning, business strategy, infrastructure, natural gas price, economic growth
Marketing Strategy To Increase Azura Travel Tour Sales
Abstract - Azura Travel Tour was established in early of 2014 in Bekasi. The company operates on the tourism sector. Azura Travel Tour focuses on the sales of travel agent system which has full facilities including domestic and international air flight tickets purchasing, train tickets purchasing, hotel reservation, domestic and international tourism packages, Hajj Plus and Umroh Trips, multi-payment and pre-pay credits, documents and packages air shipping which cooperate with Lion Group, airport shuttle, travel bus. In 2015, Azura had 200 million Rupiahs as the numbers of net profit target. However, Azura net profit on January to December 2015 was only reached 43% of the expected target. Moreover, among 136 people who are listed as Azura current total of members, only 51% who conduct the transaction. Azura was analyzing the external and internal issues of the company to figure out the problem solving. The external and internal analysis is using PEST Theory and Porter's 5 Forces, STP Analysis, Marketing Mix, Developing Effective Communication, Channel Management Decision, Purchasing Decision's Factor, Competitor Analysis, Data Exploration, and Questionnaire to 136 members of Azura. The root cause of problems in Azura are less effectiveness in strategies making by the intention of winning over the competitors, the lack of effectiveness in designing strategies on advertising programs, the last one is the lack of effectiveness in managing relationship with Azura members After realizing the existing root cause, Azura provides the solutions to fix these issues. The strategies which are going to be used are the designing advertising programs based on company promotional intention and constantly measuring the results of advertisement, fixing strategies on the application of marketing mix in order to win the competition among the competitors, keep embracing the members in handling complaints, conducting business motivation, and also rewarding interesting gifts and awards as appreciation according to the accomplishment, then the members will compete to increase their transactions. Azura will focus on the strategies by the intention of achieving better profit target in the next upcoming years in the implementation plan by designing effective strategies on advertising programs, Ads in newspaper media constantly, advertising cooperation with the members, members evaluation, members gathering. Developing business strategy of warbis prama in food and fashion industry
Abstract. Warbis Prama is a Business Development Services company. Warbis Prama is part of the Ministry of Cooperation from 2002 until 2014. In 2014 they got independent as they see the opportunities from internal and external factors. There is 57.895.721 number of the total Indonesia SME's where all most the total came from all of SME industry. Those amount of SME's are the best opportunity for Warbis Prama to expand their business. Furthermore, Warbis Prama had a great partnership to serve and develop the SME as they are have been part of the ministry of cooperation before. They had so many experiences with Ministry of Cooperation. So Warbis prama top management level are eligible to run the business. Furthermore, they had many projects with Ministry of SME. Those experience determine Warbis Prama core value. The final result shows Warbis Prama is eligible to be independent and give input to the Warbis Prama based on the research and business strategy method. Secondly, Warbis Prama can run the business through a business strategy that fit to them in the future. The third, Explanation about Warbis Prama should do in the future with the proper implementation plan. So, Warbis Prama can develop their business and achieve sustainability advantage in the futur
