Motivation of educators for professional development
The topic of this paper is „Motivation of educators for professional development“. Proffesional development of preschool educators is an important factor that affects on educational practice quality. In order to be able to respond to all the demands of the practice, his new role is characterized by continuous learning. At the same time, the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation that the preschool educator possesses in this process is crucial. In the theoretical part of the paper, the types of motivation that can encourage the preschool educator to achieve the goal are described, and professional development is presented as a form of the preschool educator's lifelong education. Also, the manner in which professional development is conducted in the Republic of Croatia is presented, and a survey was conducted on a sample of 206 respondents from the Republic of Croatia. It is evident from the research that preschool educators are motivated to participate in professional development and that they consider it positive for their work. Intrinsic motivation is more important for preschool educators, and their needs, desires and interests motivate them to participate in professional development
Relationship between homesickness, academic self-efficacy and academic success
The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between homesickness, academic selfefficacy and academic success among students. A total of 151 undergraduate and graduate students (27 men and 118 women) studying outside their place of residence participated in the research. For the purpose of data collection, participants were asked to complete the Utrecht Homesickness Scale (UHS) as well as the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale from MSLQ. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to analyze the data obtained in the research. In accordance with the hypotheses, the results of this study suggest a moderate positive relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic success. However, contrary to assumptions, no statistically significant relationship was found between homesickness and academic self-efficacy. Also, the research results suggest that there is no statistically significant relationship between homesickness and academic success
Diabetic retinopathy
It is very important to know the symptoms and warning signs for long-term complications of diabetes such as diabetic retinopathy. This complication leads to the loss of sight, a sense that cannot be replaced by any other sense. Due to the great importance of vision for human life and work, it is also very important that nurses have specific knowledge and education in the field of ophthalmology
Comparative stylistic analysis of most famous love poetry Of Vesna Parun, Irena Vrkljan and Vesna Krmpotić
The aim of this paper is to observe the similarities and differences between the three selected collections of Vesna Parun, Irena Vrkljan and Vesna Krmpotić. Crna maslina, Paralele and Žarptica are intimate collections of poems in which the authors, each in their own way, offer the reader three different emotional and communicative concepts of love. By interpreting the poems of each individual collection, the main characteristics can be observed; for Vesna Parun it is the absence of the Other, for Vesna Krmpotić it is a motive of desire, and for Irena Vrkljan it is a figure of disaster. What is explored with each author is equally the emotional infrastructure of the poem and the lyrical subject and lyrical communication. Finally, based on the interpreted poems, an insight into the differences and/or similarities of the selected collections is offered
“Universitas Iadertina” the cradle of higher education in Croatia (1396.-1807.)
In the Middle Ages, education was ruled by the Church, whose orders were in the educational context focused on the production of clerical, ruling and clerical staff. However, geopolitical circumstances and religious conflicts, as well as various cultural movements such as the Renaissance, brought education closer to all layers of society, which is visible in the work of numerous educational institutions. On Croatian soil, an exceptional example is represented by the General College of the Dominican Order in Zadar, Universitas Iadertina. At the beginning of the thirteenth century, Saint Dominic founded the Order of Preachers, better known as the Dominican Order, which founded the first monasteries on the territory of continental Croatia and along the Adriatic coast, and parallel with them, educational institutions. The rules of the Dominican Order dictated that each province must have one monastery in which the general college operated. By training three doctors of science, obtaining the approval of the head of the order, and Pope Boniface IX, the Dalmatian province fulfilled all the conditions for opening a general college. In 1396, the head of the Dominican Order brought a provision to allocate the General University in Zadar. The college was organized as a community of students and professors, and the curriculum was organized at three levels: grammatical, material and formal. The very process of obtaining these degrees was complex and time-consuming due to the limited number of bachelor and doctoral degrees. The paper describes the historical circumstances that led to the foundation of the oldest university on Croatian soil in 1396. Universitas Iadetina, as well as the continuity of its work through the historical epochs of the Middle and Modern Ages, until its abolition at the time of the French administration in 1807
Representation of inclusion topics in textbooks for the fourth grade of elementary school
Inclusion is a process related to the inclusion of children with special needs in the regular education system. It does not imply that everyone is equal, but fosters a new attitude towards diversity. From the point of view of inclusion, diversity is not a problem, but is seen as an inexhaustible source of learning and teaching. Inclusion requires an individualized approach to children with special needs. In the teaching process, textbooks intended for them are used, which contributes to better quality inclusive education. Children with special needs are included in the education system in accordance with the legal acts that will be discussed in the paper. An important role in the implementation of inclusion is played by teachers who, through their work and commitment, create inclusive classrooms where all students feel accepted and equal. The aim of this work is to determine how many inclusion topics are represented in textbooks for the fourth grade of primary school. These are textbooks from the Croatian language and Nature and Society. The analysis of the mentioned textbooks showed the highest representation of inclusive topics in the Croatian language textbooks, and significantly less in the Nature and Society textbooks. Within each individual textbook, teaching units containing an inclusive topic were analyzed. After the aforementioned analysis, the procedures for implementing inclusion in the classroom teacher's lesson will be listed
Challenges in creating tourism offer on the islands of Zadar archipelago
Unatoč važnoj ulozi turizma u ekonomskom rastu otoka, mnogi izazovi i problemi ostaju neriješeni. Despite the important role of tourism in the economic growth of the islands, many challenges and issues remain unresolved. These problems include traffic isolation, lack of infrastructure, demographic difficulties, lack of job opportunities, and other factors that hinder the development of the islands and tourism on them. The subject of this research will be to analyze and explore all the problems, from the need for infrastructure improvement, promoting demographic growth, creating new jobs, and sustainable water and water resource management, in order to define the challenges faced by local authorities and tourism professionals when developing and creating tourism offerings on their islands. Traffic isolation, lack of infrastructure, and water supply issues pose challenges for the islands, affecting both tourists and residents. Tourism can help address demographic issues but requires the involvement of the local population. The EU provides support to the islands through funds, but education on their utilization is crucial. Collaboration with local stakeholders and the population is essential for sustainable tourism development, preserving natural and cultural heritage for future generations. Based on qualitative research involving four participants and analysis of secondary data, it is evident that creating a sustainable tourism offering for the islands of the Zadar archipelago is a complex and individual process for each island. It is crucial to approach these challenges comprehensively, structurally, and sustainably, taking into account the needs of the local population living on the islands throughout the year
Evaluation of the level of cleaning in the wards of Zadar General Hospital
Zaključak: Udio očišćenih površina u bolesničkim sobama Opće bolnice Zadar i dalje ne pokazuje velike brojke, ali su rezultati ipak bolji u odnosu na prethodno napravljeno istraživanjeIntroduction: Current scientific evidence indicates that a contaminated environment plays an important role in the spread of microorganisms, and if not thoroughly cleaned and/or disinfected on a regular basis, then it can act as a reservoir of potential pathogens (1). The aim of the research: was to determine the share of cleaned surfaces in the patient rooms of the Zadar General Hospital and to compare the obtained results with the previous research. Respondents and methods: Respondents are cleaners (N-70) who are assigned to cleaning processes in Zadar General Hospital, regardless of age, gender and length of work experience. As a measuring instrument, the prescribed form of the company Ecolab d.o.o. was used for recording the process of marking surfaces and evaluating cleaned/uncleaned surfaces. Fluorescent gel and UV lamp were used for the marking process to evaluate the correct method and cleaning process.
Results: Patient rooms in the departments of pediatrics (25%), neurology (22%) and gynecology (32%) had the lowest percentage in the assessment of cleanliness. According to the results, the Department of Neurosurgery has the lowest percentage of cleanliness (50%), followed by the Department of Vascular Surgery. The trauma department has the highest percentage of cleanliness (90%). In the Department of Internal Diseases, the Department of Gastroenterology was rated as the cleanest Department (80%), and the Department of Pulmonology had the lowest degree of cleanliness with only 48% of clean surfaces. The total thoroughness of cleaning in the observed period was 22.9%, which is 40% less compared to the research that was conducted now.
Conclusion: The share of cleaned surfaces in the patient rooms of Zadar General Hospital still does not show large numbers, but the results are still better compared to the previous research
The Church of the Holy Savior at the source of the Cetina
The Church of the Holy Savior at the source of the Cetina was built in the last quarter of the 9th century. It is considered the most important Croatian architectural monument from the Pre-Romanesque period. It is the subject of many archaeological research from the end of the 19th century to the present day. Different researchers have drawn different conclusions about the interior and exterior of the church, the year it was built and the name of the church. During earlier research, researchers such as Lujo Marun and Ljubo Karaman thought that the church belonged to the late Middle Ages. Stjepan Gunjača refuted those opinions. Gunjača led the research on the church between 1947. and 1954. He found the beam of the altar railing mentioning the name of the prefect Gastika, prefect mother and his sons. He discovered that the church was a private building, and that it was dedicated to Christ (the Holy Savior). In 1980, Ivo Petricioli compared sculpture from the Holy Savior with sculptures in Ždrapanj and Sopot. Petricioli concluded that the church in Cetina was built during the time of Prince Branimir (879- 892). Furthermore, Nikola Jakšić also compared the sculpture from the Holy Savior with sculptures in Šopot and in Biskupija and he classified them in the group Court Stonemason Workshop because they have similar characteristics. The church is very significant because of its unique architectural solutions such as the triconch sanctuary, the axial bellfry and Westwerk from Carolingian art. In addition, there are round buttresses on the external walls. Ivo Petricioli compared it with other churches that have round buttresses (Biograd Cathedral, Lopuška glavica and Stupovi regions), and he emphasized that this type of building cannot be found in pre-Romanesque and Romanesque Europe but only in Croatia. Due to its uniqueness, he named the mentioned churches "Old Croatian architecture". In addition, during the research on the church, researches found frescoes that are believed to date from the late Middle Ages
Historical content in the nature and society textbook for the fourth grade of primary school
Learning about orientation in time enables students to acquire knowledge about historical content more easily. Knowledge of historical content in the lower grades of primary school is only a small step in understanding the complex content that follows, and some of them are the understanding of cause-and-effect relationships that happened in the past, analysis of historical sources, etc. This paper presents an overview of the historical content in primary school and a comparison of three textbooks in order to see what some authors consider essential for teaching in lower grades of primary school. All data were collected by analyzing scientific literature and observing students in the learning process itself. This paper presents the initial differentiation of historical content in the fourth grade of elementary school from the subject of nature and society
