Teacher of the 21st Century : As an architect of education in an ever-changing world
Učiteľská profesia v 21. storočí čelí dynamickým výzvam vyplývajúcim zo spoločenských a technologických zmien. Štúdia tiež identifikuje výzvy spojené s implementáciou zmien, pričom navrhuje opatrenia na úrovni vysokoškolskej prípravy a školského prostredia, vrátane kontinuálneho vzdelávania učiteľov, podpory profesijných komunít a efektívneho zavádzania inovatívnych pedagogických prístupov. Záverečné odporúčania sa sústreďujú na strategické plánovanie zmien a potrebu spolupráce medzi univerzitami, školami a vzdelávacími inštitúciami s cieľom zvýšiť kvalitu vzdelávania a profesijný rast učiteľov.The teaching profession in the 21st century faces dynamic challenges resulting from social and technological changes. The curricular reform implemented in Slovakia emphasizes competency-based education, an interdisciplinary approach, digital literacy, and the development of students\u27 social and emotional competencies. In this context, it is essential to change the training of future teachers to reflect the current needs of the education system. This paper focuses on the importance of linking curriculum reform with university teacher training, emphasizing the need to update pedagogical and psychological subjects and to strengthen the practical experience of teacher training students. Particular attention is paid to the development of future teachers\u27 competencies, such as the ability to systematically understand the teaching process and the didactics system, communication skills, flexibility, conflict resolution, and self-reflection, which are key to effective education. The study also identifies challenges associated with implementing change and proposes measures at the level of higher education and the school environment, including continuing education for teachers, support for professional communities, and the effective introduction of innovative pedagogical approaches. The final recommendations focus on strategic planning for change and the need for cooperation between universities, schools, and educational institutions to improve the quality of education and the professional growth of teachers
International Organizations and AI-supported Humanitarian Aid: Navigating Through the Applicable (Data Protection) Legal Regimes
The increasing reliance of international humanitarian organisations on artificial intelligence (AI) to fulfil their mandates gives rise to a number of legal issues, including those pertaining to data protection and the role of individual consent. By focusing on the law and practice of the World Food Programme (WFP) this paper makes a twofold contribution. First, it argues that the enforcement of relevant national and regional data protection and AI legal regimes in relation to the work of international humanitarian organizations is generally precluded by the immunities to which they are entitled under international law. It is therefore the internal regimes of these organisations that provide the most relevant legal framework governing the use of AI and subsequent data gathering. Second, this paper demonstrates that, rather than focusing on the notion of consent, humanitarian organisations should prioritise the incorporation of robust safeguards for data protection and the responsible use of AI into their respective internal regimes
The Sustainability Concept in the Consumer Purchase Contract: Is the R2R Directive Sustainable Enough?
The article deals with the legal analysis of Directive (EU) 2024/1799 (so called Right to Repair Directive), which represents a key step in the regulation of the right to repair of goods in the European Union. The Directive aims to promote sustainable consumer behaviour, extend the lifetime of products and contribute to the objectives of the circular economy. The article focuses on the key provisions of the Directive, analyses its benefits and weaknesses, and identifies the legal challenges associated with implementation, including the impact of intellectual property rights, economic and cultural barriers to repair, and the lack of a clear preference for repair over replacement of goods. The paper concludes by assessing that the Directive represents a significant step in the right direction, but that its effectiveness depends on further adjustments to strengthen its impact and meet the European Union’s ambitious sustainability objectives
