Get PDFLanguage competence of second generation heritage speakers of Czech
The paper deals with the language competences and needs of second generation heritage speakers of Czech in Germany. The data are from 2006–2023, originating from observations, written work, oral production and interviews of about 40 university students who participated in special classes of Czech for heritage speakers. First, selected aspects of the language biographies and some language ideologies of these speakers are outlined. Second, a prototypical profile of their Czech is presented, in which listening and speaking competences prevail over reading and writing skills. Examples are used to illustrate some instability in certain grammatical as well as lexical and other phenomena

The Inspection of Natural Persons who are not Entrepreneurs in the Field of Air Quality Protection in Poland and the Czech Republic
Get PDFThis article is an attempt at a synthetic discussion of selected elements of the legal model of air pollution protection in Poland and the Czech Republic. The aim is to bring this issue closer to a wider audience, which may be a contribution to an international academic discussion in this field. Within the scope of this article, it is impossible to cover all the threads related to the control of natural persons who are not entrepreneurs in the field of air quality protection in Poland and the Czech Republic, hence the focus will be on selected elements. I justify the reference to Czech legislation on the grounds of geographical proximity (neighbourhood with Poland), similar problems (a post-communist country), and membership in the EU. Despite these apparent similarities, the two countries deal with air protection in quite different ways. According to reports by the European Environment Agency, the Czech Republic has better air quality than Poland. The article uses formal-dogmatic, statistical and comparative methods

The discussion is focused on the possibilities of implementing the framework into the initial preparation of future teachers and its use in the professional development of both novice and experienced educators in practice
