No full textInternational audienceThe international conference that inspired this collective volume was based on an ambitious programme of digitisation of musical collections, bringing together, since 2016, the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Bibliothèque Mazarine and the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève aimed at making accessible online a vast corpus of around a thousand documents ranging from the ninth to the twentieth centuries, and of various kinds such as manuscript and printed scores, narratives, theoretical and critical essays, teaching manuals or notated liturgical works. In addition to producing new studies on the past and present processes of building up and enhancing the musical collections of libraries and archives, the aim is to re-examine all the material, theoretical, practical and pedagogical means of transmitting music, in the light of a variety of case studies organised around five themes: the transmission of musical collections and their actors; what do instrumental methods transmit to us; musical notation as a means of transmission; forms of transmission of early music; transmitting music across time and places.Le colloque international qui a inspiré ce volume collectif s’est appuyé sur un ambitieux programme de numérisation de fonds musicaux, réunissant, depuis 2016, la Bibliothèque nationale de France, la Bibliothèque Mazarine et la Bibliothèque Sainte‑Geneviève visait à rendre librement accessible en ligne un vaste corpus d’environ mille documents allant du IXe au XXe siècles, et de diverses natures telles que des partitions manuscrites et imprimées, des récits, des essais théoriques et critiques, des manuels pédagogiques ou des ouvrages liturgiques notés. Au-delà de la production de nouveaux travaux sur les processus anciens et actuels de constitution et de valorisation des fonds musicaux des bibliothèques et archives, il s’agit de réinterroger l’ensemble des vecteurs matériels, théoriques, pratiques, pédagogiques permettant la transmission de la musique, à la lumière d’études de cas variées, organisées autour de cinq axes : la transmission de fonds musicaux et leurs acteurs ; ce que nous transmettent les méthodes instrumentales ; la notation musicale vecteur de transmission ; formes de transmission de la musique ancienne ; transmettre la musique à travers les lieux et les temps
The Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies: A Historical ‘Utopian’ Enclave in the Political World of Academia?
No full textInternational audienceOver its almost twenty-five years of existence (1964-1988), the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (CCCS, or Centre) was chronically understaffed, at times thriving academically and politically, and all too often on the edge of closure. It however left a tangible trace in the history of academia and political activism, not only by laying the groundwork for a new research field, that of cultural studies, but also by having been a place of nearly constant pedagogical freedom and experimentation. By being a space of cooperation and confrontation both within, and without, the Centre has been deeply influenced by political events and university reforms alike. It became a democratic space: guarding the walls of an unstable academic praxis, reinventing itself over and over, redefining its aims and objects, publishing ground-breaking research in the realm of social science, and doing field work in constant relationship to left wing politics. This paper aims at situating the CCCS and analysing the ways in which it has invested the concept of fragmented powers: first, by replacing the Centre in the wider context of British post-war politics, then, by retracing its steps alongside the evolution of the British university system over the second half of the twentieth century, and finally by examining its administrative, pedagogical, and publishing practices, as so many instances of fragmented powers inside a university research centre
Explorer les interactions entre la personnalité, le plurilinguisme et la perception de soi : perspectives issues d'une enquête internationale et leurs implications pour l'enseignement et l'apprentissage des langues
No full textInternational audienceCette étude propose des aperçus préliminaires issus d'une enquête qualitative sur les interactions entre les traits de personnalité, le plurilinguisme et la perception de soi, ainsi que leurs implications pour l'apprentissage et l'enseignement des langues. À partir de données recueillies lors d'une enquête internationale, la recherche a examiné comment les répertoires linguistiques des participants étaient liés à leur perception de soi et à leurs traits de personnalité. L'étude s'est appuyée sur le test de personnalité TIPI (Thørrisen & Sadeghi, 2023) et sur un outil de perception de soi adapté d'Aguilar Río (2023). Trois hypothèses ont été explorées : (1) les individus possédant des répertoires linguistiques plus vastes manifesteraient des niveaux plus élevés d'extraversion, d'agréabilité et d'ouverture ; (2) un niveau élevé de névrosisme et de conscience serait corrélé à une tolérance réduite envers la communication plurilingue et les discours grammaticalement incorrects ; et (3) ceux disposant de répertoires linguistiques étendus auraient une perception positive d'eux-mêmes en tant que plurilingues. Bien que les résultats n'aient pas permis de confirmer ou de réfuter ces hypothèses de manière définitive, des tendances émergentes suggèrent une relation nuancée entre ces facteurs. Les résultats soulignent les avantages pédagogiques potentiels de l'intégration des traits de personnalité des apprenants dans la définition des objectifs d'apprentissage et des pratiques en classe. De plus, l'étude ouvre des perspectives prometteuses pour améliorer la formation des futurs enseignants de langues, en mettant l'accent sur l'importance de prendre en compte les différences individuelles pour promouvoir une éducation plurilingue efficace. Ces conclusions s'inscrivent dans le débat actuel sur le rôle des facteurs psychologiques et linguistiques dans la construction des expériences d'apprentissage des langues
Aerodynamic and acoustic correlates of word-initial voiceless nasal geminates in Ikema Miyako Ryukyua
No full textInternational audienceThis study investigates the voiceless nasal sounds of the Ikema dialect of Miyako Ryukyuan, which is a severely endangered language spoken on the Miyako Islands in Japan. Miyako Ryukyuan exhibits a variety of geminate consonants, but Ikema is the only Miyako dialect that has developed voiceless nasal consonants as part of its word-initial geminate inventory. To investigate the voicing contrast of nasals, we explored aerodynamic and acoustic recordings from ten speakers. Acoustic measures (fundamental frequency and H1*-H2*) aimed to find voicing cues in the following vowel. Our results indicate that the airflow patterns of Ikema voiceless nasals are similar to those of Burmese, except that the voicing rate is higher in Ikema. Acoustic measures do not reveal any enhancing cue of the voicing feature. This result might be due to the longer voiced duration in the voiceless nasals, which our study also confirmed

No full textInternational audienceTout le monde connaît le film Blade Runner, qui s’inspire – sans reprendre fidèlement – le roman Les Androïdes rêvent-ils de moutons électriques ? de Philip K. Dick. Pour les 40 ans de la sortie du film de Ridley Scott, nous proposons de faire un tour d’horizon des héritages de Blade Runner. L’ambiguïté du mot « héritage » nous permet d’explorer ce qui a influencé le film (Metropolis de Fritz Lang, par exemple) aussi bien que son impact culturel dans de multiples domaines, en commençant par ses suites, le roman Blade Runner 2 de K. W. Jeter et le film Blade Runner 2049 de Denis Villeneuve. Dans cette introduction, nous passons en revue les héritages de Blade Runner et nous mettons ainsi en perspectives les lignes directrices – culturelles, scientifiques, philosophiques – de cet ouvrage

No full textInternational audienceIn a context marked by a desire on the part of the State and its institutions to strengthen citizen involvement in public life, the public communicator is emerging as a crucial player in the deployment of participatory mechanisms. The aim of this article is to examine how the role of the public communicator operating within institutions is being enriched, and how it interacts with the role of the public communicator operating outside these institutions, embodied by the consultants-technicians. To this end, we study the issues of promotion, collaboration and training that structure the profession of public communicator in the mobilization of new participatory tools.Dans un contexte marqué par une volonté de l'État et de ses institutions de renforcer l'engagement des citoyens dans la vie publique, le communicant public s'impose comme un acteur crucial dans le déploiement des dispositifs participatifs. Ainsi, cet article vise à étudier l'enrichissement du rôle du communicant public opérant au sein des institutions et ses interactions avec celui opérant à l'extérieur de ces institutions, incarné par les consultants-techniciens. Pour cela, nous étudions les enjeux de promotion, de collaboration puis de formation qui structurent le métier de communicant public dans la mobilisation des nouveaux outils participatifs
