Une illustration de l’expérience muséale des personnes en situation de handicap à travers le monde
No full textInternational audienceUsing quantitative data from two surveys of museums in France and around the world, this article sets out to characterize the way in which the notion of vulnerability is constructed in the field of disability, considering the museum as a privileged observation ground for the social processes of exclusion and marginalization at work with regard to the people concerned. We consider that accessibility and policies for welcoming disabled visitors to museums reflect the inequalities affecting populations in a given territory. We take this institution as an entry point for thinking about and observing the way in which a territory shapes the experience of disability and - consequently - the identity of the people concerned. We’ll uncover the processes by which certain categories of the population become invisible and marginalized in museums, and try to understand what’s at stake for the individuals concerned and, more broadly, the implications for the way we think about a project for society.À partir de données quantitatives issues de deux enquêtes menées auprès de musées en France et à travers le monde, cet article se propose de caractériser la façon dont se construit la notion de vulnérabilité dans le champ du handicap, en considérant le musée comme terrain d’observation privilégié des processus sociaux d’exclusion et de marginalisation à l’œuvre à l’égard des personnes concernées. Nous considérons que l’accessibilité et les politiques d’accueil des visiteurs en situation de handicap dans les musées reflètent en partie des inégalités frappant les populations sur un territoire donné. Nous prenons alors cette institution comme point d’entrée pour penser et observer la façon dont un territoire façonne l’expérience du handicap et – par conséquence – l’identité des personnes concernées. Nous mettrons à jour les processus d’invisibilisation et de mise à la marge de certaines catégories de la population dans les musées, et tâcherons de comprendre les enjeux sur les individus concernés et, plus largement, les implications sur la façon de penser un projet de société
Proto-Berber Kinship Terms and Their Implications for Early Amazigh Society
No full textImprimée en 2025International audienceIn consanguineal kinship terminology, Berber (Amazigh) displays a sharp divide between a patrilineal, Sudanese north and a bilineal, Iroquois south, provoking much speculation on original matrilineality. This divide extends to affines, where the patrilocal joint families of the north contrast with the flexible encampments of the south. Both systems show clear evidence of expansion and reconfiguration through internal coinages and borrowing; the well-known Arabic influence on northern Berber kinship is paralleled by previously unrecognized Songhay influence in southern Berber. Factoring out such innovations allows the reconstruction of a core inventory of Proto-Berber kinship terms most compatible with a generational (i.e., Hawaiian) kinship system

Assessing economic exposure to nature-related risks
No full textThe accelerated degradation of biodiversity exposes economic and financial activities to systemic risks comparable to those associated with climate change. We propose a method for assessing the socio-economic exposure of most of the world's countries to both physical and transition risks, using free, open databases. An example of application to assess the exposure of the South African economy is provided. There is room for improvement in this method. It is not sufficient for country risk ratings or capital allocation or financing decisions, but it provides a preliminary assessment that can guide further due diligence and more informed financing decisions. It can help a wide range of stakeholders, public decisionmakers, market regulators, companies and financial institutions to meet the objectives of improving the monitoring, evaluation and transparent disclosure of the risks, dependencies and impacts on biodiversity of economic players. In this way, it can contribute to achieving Target 15 of the Kunming- Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, or to implementing the recommendations of the Task-Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) or the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
