Badanie poczucia subiektywnego związanego z dzieleniem na sylaby wyrazów języka polskiego – podział wieloelementowych grup spółgłoskowych
This paper presents the results of a preliminary investigation of subjective feelings related to the syllabification of Polish words written in orthographic form. The results are part of a wider study, and the data presented here are limited to polysegmental word-internal consonant clusters. In the author’s previous articles it was noted that some morphological boundaries are perceived as syllable boundaries – particularly boundaries between a prefix and a stem. The words that contain such boundaries were excluded from the investigation. The main goal was to verify whether the phonostatistical properties of consonant clusters influence subjective feelings related to syllabification. The investigated statistical proprieties concern the frequency of occurrence of consonant clusters, and of parts of them at the beginning of words, in the text corpus. Another goal was to verify whether the syllabification based on phonology differs from that based on subjective feelings
Славяно-турецкое языковое и культурное взаимодействие (на материале хамаилов литовских татар)
One of the most common genre varieties of literary heritage of Lithuanian Tatars is the chamails. Due to their content, chamails are divided into two groups: prayer’s, intended for imams, and so-called faldjey’s, which besides prayers and descriptions of rituals includes materials on the Muslim chronology, advices on the treatment of diseases with the help of prayers, interpretation of dreams, magic texts. Unbelievable value for researchers represents chamails, in which most of the eastern texts of ritual content and prayers are accompanied by an interlinear translation into Belarusian / Polish language. The translated texts from the manuscript (signature 3246 ar.), stored at the Manuscripts and Rare Book Department of the Scientific Library of Kazan Federal University, and manuscripts (signature No. 869) from the collection of professor A. Muhlinsky, stored at the Library of St. Petersburg University, is going to be the object of the comparative study
Gdy królewską godność zachowały tylko kamienne lwy…, czyli o językowej kreacji lwa w piosenkach Jacka Kaczmarskiego
The main goal of the article is showing the language creation of a lion in songs by Jacek Kaczmarski. The theme of the lion, helps to show the situation of the people enslaved in a communist country. The lion, the symbol of power and bravery, in Kaczmarski’s poetry is mainly shown as an attraction in circus. It is weak, disoriented and frightened. This stereotypical proud animal, became a weak creature, which is laughed at by the spectators.Only fake lions made out of stone along with the Zodiac Leo and people named Lion, didn’t lose their proudness and bravery. Those can remind us about the characteristics of a true lion, but are also guardian of true, wise and honest authority. Kaczmarski’s lions symbolize an enslaved, weak nation that, on the other hand, have the awareness of their power and wait for the fall of the regime
Leksem cud i jego derywaty w historii polszczyzny
In the article the fifty lexical units were analysed and attributed to the word family of the noun – cud (miracle). The general scope of the analysis was created by the semasiological method. Stemming from the etymology, upon investigation by which methods the particular wordforms acquired new senses it was characterized by movements and objective, which these modifications served. As it turned out the researched lexical units concentrated around such semantic fields as: WONDER and STRANGENESS. The second category (field) developed not until the 18th century. Earlier the analyzed derivatives implied such words as: ‘beauty’, ‘perfectness’, ‘politeness’, ‘magic’, ‘wizardry’ and ‘fraud’. The life changing events and the developing knowledge caused the eradication of last written material and as it happened nobody correlates the jugglers with the miracle makers. In the article the fifty lexical units were analysed and attributed to the word family of the noun – cud (miracle). Tekst biblijny i sprawy „zbyt powszednie”? Na marginesie kwestii tabu językowego w tradycji czeskiego przekładu biblijnego
The case study deals with the fortunes of translation equivalents of the words ἀφεδρών//secessus (in Matthew 15,17 and Mark 7,19) and γυμνός//nudus (in John 21,7) in the Czech Biblical tradition. The paper presents the material from almost fifty Czech translations (from the end of the 13th century to this day) and shows that the expressions (notions) draught, toilet and naked disappear in certain moments and are missing in most of the translations. The author tries to demonstrate in his analyses and interpretations when, under which circumstances and why there was this specific secondary tabooization that itself (slightly) disturbs the taboo of the inviolability of the content of the sacred text. The case study deals with the fortunes of translation equivalents of the words ἀφεδρών//secessus (in Matthew 15,17 and Mark 7,19) and γυμνός//nudus (in John 21,7) in the Czech Biblical tradition. Kupieckie ogłoszenia prasowe zamieszczane w „Dzienniku Bydgoskim” z lat 1907–1914 – rekonesans badawczy
The aim of this article is to explain the specificity of Bydgoszcz merchants’ mercantile discourse at the beginning of 20th century. It was time of rapid industrialization and economic changes. Advertisements not only met Bydgoszcz inhabitants’ needs but also started to create them. However, “Dziennik Bydgoski” documents keeping mercantile traditions. Published advertisements usually refer to an old model of informational announcement that was usually consisted of a specific offer in the form of a list of offered goods. Company owner’s name was the only quality assurance. Another popular form of advertising had a form of a short letter, where the merchant talked directly to their potential clients. Basic strategies used in this kind of advertisement were based on expressing respect to the customer and offering additional service. But the most characteristic feature of mentioned advertisements was appealing to patriotic feelings of customers. Encouraging people to buy in Polish shops and placing ads of Polish merchants was a form of resistance against growing Germanization in Bydgoszcz. This feature of the announcements published in “Dziennik Bydgoski” distinguish them from advertisements printed in Polish newspapers in Polish Kingdom and Galicia

Profesor Tadeusz Skulina – historyk języka i onomasta
Professor Tadeusz Skulina (1929–1992) was born in Katowice but from the Second World War he was connected with Great Poland. Also in Poznań, he studied Polish Studies and following his graduation became employed at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań where he completed the consecutive stages of his scholarly career. As a disciple of Professor Władysław Kuraszkiewicz he conducted research on the Polish language of the Old-Polish era and of the 16th century. His doctoral thesis (1964) was devoted to historical phonetics and historical dialectology but soon he changed his scholarly interests and entered the field of Slavic studies, especially East-Slavic languages. In his habilitation thesis he discussed the question of the Old-Ruthenian anthroponymy. This thesis, published in 1973, was the first original, so extensive and detailed thesis about the Old-Ruthenian names. As we know, in the period following the receipt of his habilitation degree Professor Tadeusz Skulina had plans to prepare a monograph about Polish feminine onomastics. He had pursued this for years, however, unfortunately, never managed to prepare a synthesis. He only left an unfinished editorial draft of this book. Apart from research activities, Professor Skulina was involved in didactics and also performed responsible administrative functions at the Institute of Polish Philology, was a member of numerous scholarly societies. For his achievements, he received many awards and honours. Professor Tadeusz Skulina died in 1992 after a long and emaciating illness. The scholarly achievements he has left inspire the successive generations of researchers. He also left unfinished written works and ideas which he never managed to realize.Professor Tadeusz Skulina (1929–1992) was born in Katowice but from the Second World War he was connected with Great Poland. Słowniczek tykociński Zygmunta Glogera – źródła i dokumentacja
The article focuses on lexicographic means and methods used in the 19th century dialectal lexicography. Zygmunt Gloger in Tykocin Dictionary refers not only to dialect but also to other sources, which makes his work unique. It contains numerous references, especially to literary and historical texts, but also specialised papers. They serve either to prove the presence of a particular word/phrase in the Polish language in the past or in the times of Gloger, or to document the use of selected units in various syntactic and semantic contexts. Scientific references enable to define and to deepen etymology of selected words, or to provide an alternative variation. Referring to various sources in order to show historically or/and geographically determined phonetic, morphological and semantic-lexical forms that differ from forms in Tykocin Dictionary is rare
