In this study, frequency domain Granger causality test and generalized forecast error variance decomposition are employed to check the causal direction and contribution of exports and imports to economic growth for eight economies. Granger results show: in the short run, (a) Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand support growth-led import, Malaysia supports import-led growth, and Singapore supports bidirectional causal connection between imports and economic growth; (b) Indonesia supports growth-led export, the Philippines and Thailand support export-led growth, and Hong Kong SAR and Singapore support mutual causality between exports and economic growth; in the long run, (c) Indonesia and Thailand support growth-led import, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, and Singapore support import-led growth, and South Korea supports a two-way causality nexus between imports and economic growth; (d) South Korea and Indonesia support growth-led export, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, and Singapore support export-led growth, and Thailand supports bidirectional causality between exports and economic growth. Variance decomposition results indicated that in Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, imports explain a larger part of economic growth than exports; in Hong Kong SAR and Singapore, exports have a larger impact than imports on economy; in Thailand, exports and imports are almost at the same importance level

Integration of Task-Technology Fit (TTF) And Motivation Model to Investigate the Adoption of M-Marketing

Mobile marketing, also known as m-marketing, is a contemporary marketing technique that holds considerable influence over organizational performance, particularly in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The objective of this research is to investigate the factors that impact the adoption of m-marketing in SMEs in Pakistan. To achieve this, the study utilizes the Task Technology Fit (TTF) theory and the motivation model as theoretical frameworks to propose a research framework. A sample of 305 valid responses was collected, and structural equation modelling (SEM) using AMOS was employed to analyse the data and test the hypotheses. The findings of the study indicate that all variables related to TTF (Task characteristics, technology characteristics, and task-technology fit) as well as the motivational model (extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation) significantly predict the adoption of m-marketing in SMEs in Pakistan. The study holds both practical and theoretical implications of great significance

Moving towards Accrual Basis Accounting: Assessing the Benefits, Challenges, Suitability, and Implementation for Public Sector Organizations in Pakistan Abstract

Shifting from cash basis accounting to accrual basis accounting can have several benefits for public sector organizations in Pakistan. However, it also comes with its set of challenges. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the benefits, challenges, suitability, and implementation of shifting from a cash basis to an accrual basis accounting system in public sector organizations in Pakistan. Currently, most of the state-owned organizations in Pakistan practice a cash based accounting system. However, the world is now switching towards accrual accounting, and many countries have already initiated the transition. This research study has adopted the qualitative approach using Interpretivism. Interviews with 14 public sector personnel were conducted, who are directly related to the accounts, audit, and administrative departments of their organizations. The case study method was applied. The results suggest that shifting from cash to accrual basis accounting can bring numerous benefits to public sector organizations in Pakistan, such as accurate financial reporting, better decision-making, enhanced budgeting & planning, and improved resource management. However, it requires careful planning, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and adequate resources to ensure a successful transition. Training & development, digitalization, IT upgradation, support of leadership, and adoption of a systematic change process can also play a significant role. The outcomes of this study can be useful for governmental institutions and policymakers. The government can also use this research to reduce the resistance among the users by informing them about the benefits it offers

The Impact of Financial Development on the Cost of Capital: Evidence from Pakistan

This study adds to the body of knowledge by empirically examining how financial development affects the level of cost of capital of the firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. This paper applies pooled regression model to the panel data of 150 non-financial firms listed on the Pakistan stock exchange from 2005 to 2017. The aggregate index of financial development and the two sub-indices namely financial market development and financial institutional development are used as measures of financial development; however, the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) is used as a measure of the cost of capital. We found that the cost of capital is likewise inversely correlated with financial development. Our study confirmed that financial market and institutional development are also very negatively correlated with the weighted average cost of capital. These results imply that the level of financial development in the country lowers the average cost of financing as financial development improves governance mechanism, reduces information asymmetry, and risk diversification, mitigates economic uncertainty, and promotes liquidity provisions through stock market development. The empirical evidence of this research is potentially helpful to corporate managers, financial analysts, investors, and policymakers

The objective of this research is to explore the impact of financial inclusion on financial sustainability via emerging markets. And to explore the role of fin-tech in boosting the financial sustainability of these markets. Many countries on the globe have been facing financial dilemma which have stunted its economic growth and have resulted in their lagging behind other countries. One of the most prominent factors attributed to the current financial state is the lack of personal financing, mainly due to lack of financial inclusion, effecting financial stability of the economy of these countries. Many different countries have emerged of the economic growth list with their continuous efforts and smart policies, related to smooth running of commercial banks via Fin-Tech. Fin-Tech is the aspect suggested by most researchers in their research. However, the relationship between financial inclusion and financial sustainability via emerging markets, is mainly not taken into consideration. Therefore, the aim of this research is to put a focus towards this expect. The method chosen to carry out the quantitative study is online, related to the three (3) main variables to measure their relationship and effect on each other and there twenty-one (21) indicators

Design of Homeostatic Temperature Control System for Hypohidrosis Patients and its effect on EEG waveform

Hypohidrosis is a sweating disorder that arises as a consequence of malfunctioning sweat glands due to which the human body is unable to lower its temperature. This condition can be a threat to human health as it causes severe health conditions like heat stroke. The proposed device is entirely dependent on the working principle of the thermoelectric cooler (TEC) and LM35 where LM35 helps in the detection of body temperature, as well as atmospheric temperature while the thermoelectric cooler, is used to demote the body temperature. Arduino programming is utilized to direct the working of the device to maintain the desired temperature of the body. Whenever the body temperature increases beyond normal (37°C) set through programming, the LM35 detects it and sends signals to the relay to become normally open so as to start the working of TEC. This will start to cool down the body from its cooling side attached to the skin and exhale out the excessive heat in the atmosphere from its heating side until the desired body temperature is attained. The EEG electrodes are also connected to detect the electrical activity of the subjects to analyze the effect of this device on the EEG waveform therefore the recording is taken without the device and then with the device in different conditions to interpret the effect of lowering down of temperature on the brain. This idea of investigating brain waves is significant to overcome any pessimistic effect on human body during the functioning of TEC. With the rising body temperature due to Hypohidrosis, the voltage of the thermoelectric cooler decreases which ultimately lowers the temperature of the body. This is a user-friendly device that aims to provide the desired comfort to patients with Hypohidrosis; they can enjoy their normal lifestyle, work, and roam out on a sunny day without having to worry about their disease. Moreover, this is an inexpensive device designed from a commercial point of view to meet the medical uses related with sweating disorders

Don’t make me feel alone: Ostracism and its effects on Performance

Organizations strive to create an environment where employees work as a team and their basic and advanced needs are fulfilled. One of the basic needs is the need for belongingness or social interaction. However, for certain reasons, some workers face social isolation and deliberate exclusion from social groups, called ostracism. Such a situation leads to poor psychological health and low performance. This study aims at the consequences of ostracism in public sector organizations in Punjab, Pakistan. Three dimensions of employee performance: task performance, contextual performance, and counterproductive work behavior have been measured, and the effects of ostracism on these performance dimensions have been analyzed through regression. A sample of 384 employees was collected using convenience sampling through a self-administered questionnaire. A high reliability of more than .70 was achieved, as indicated by the Cronbach alpha coefficient. Simple linear regression was used to see the effects of ostracism on performance dimensions. Results indicate that ostracism negatively affects task and contextual performance and increases deviant workplace behavior. It is recommended that managers should closely monitor the organizational environment and make sure that employees are not ostracized

Investigating the Nexus of Psychological Capital with Entrepreneurial Success: The Mediating Role of Burnout

This research empirically investigates the association of psychological capital (PsyCap) with success of entrepreneurs, and also examines the mediating role of burnout on the relationship between PsyCap and entrepreneurial success. In research design, quantitative methods were employed and cross-sectional data were collected by using random sampling technique through online survey questionnaire adopted from previous studies. The sample size determined through G* power was 134 for this study; however, we got response from 296 entrepreneurs of Sindh province, Pakistan. The data are analyzed in SmartPLS-SEM to assess measurement and structural models, and to compute hypotheses testing results. The findings reveal that PsyCap has positive significant relationship with success of entrepreneurs. This suggests that higher PsyCap abilities ensure more success of entrepreneurs in their entrepreneurial activities. Interestingly, PsyCap reported a negative impact on burnout; means good PsyCap resources reduce the negative effects of burnout among entrepreneurs. Results further indicate that burnout partially mediates the relationship between PsyCap and success; hence shows that entrepreneurs in Pakistan due to more Job demands, risks, and uncertain situations experience burnout which impacts on their success, however, positive PsyCap resources; including resilience and optimism, as well as self-efficacy and hope, work as buffer and ameliorate negative burnout effects and help entrepreneurs in achieving businesses success. The outcomes of this research provide valuable practical implications for countering burnout through fostering PsyCap resources which is important for strengthening entrepreneurship, and adds fresh insights in the existing literature
