    Implementation of "E-Lens" inquiry-based learning game to improve literacy and numeracy skills

    Literacy and numeracy are two fundamental skills that play a crucial role in the elementary education process. Literacy encompasses not only reading and writing skills but also the ability to understand information effectively. Meanwhile, numeracy includes the ability to understand and interpret mathematical concepts in everyday life. This research used the ADDIE model to develop a learning media in the form of E-Lens board game, namely Exploring Literacy, Numeracy, Math, and English. This research was conducted at Taji State Elementary School, located in a rural area, in the easternmost village on the slopes of Mount Bromo. In terms of infrastructure, the school has limited accessibility, especially regarding internet and conventional learning resources. The learning media was validated by media and material experts. Media expert assessment obtained an average percentage of 79.2% and the material expert has an average percentage of 77%. The validation results indicated that E-Lens board game, which is based on bilingual inquiry, are very good to be used as a learning media for developing numeracy literacy at the elementary level. Based on research stages and feedback from media, material experts, and respondents, E-Lens as learning media can improve elementary students’ literacy and numeracy skills

    Building entrepreneurial interest: Exploring entrepreneurial competency and self-efficacy strategies in entrepreneurship education

    The success of becoming an entrepreneur is inseparable from various aspects that influence and shape it: internal aspects, coaching and training, social environment, family, socio-cultural factors, and other factors. This study aims to examine the strategy of entrepreneurial competence and self-efficacy in building entrepreneurial interest through entrepreneurship education. The author used a qualitative descriptive analysis method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, literature review and documentation. The results showed that in implementing entrepreneurship education to the fostered residents there are internalized values of fostering entrepreneurial interest through fostering independence and fostering personality. These values are based on good practices to build the character of the fostered citizens to become entrepreneurs with good and responsible personalities. Values that are interpreted as reflections related to the relationship of life, life, and livelihood. The results also show that social attitudes towards entrepreneurship in fostered residents are influenced by discipline, self-efficacy, perseverance, patience, and prayer. Based on the economic aspects of the foster, residents could become entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurship education model that fosters independence and personality is a pillar that allows prisoners to have social and entrepreneurial skills and be economically independent

    Instructional design innovation in distance learning to improve student learning performance

    This study investigates the application of instructional design innovations to improve student learning performance, focusing specifically onthe learning materials and teaching methods. The introductory accounting course was taken as the object of study because it is a compulsory subject at the Faculty of Business. Cognitive load theory (CLT) and scaffolding theory were employed in explaining and developing the hypotheses. This study examined student learning performance gaps on instructional design innovation through learning materials (mathematics vs. traditional) and scaffolding (soft vs. hard). This study adopted a 2 x 2 experimental design involving 166 new undergraduate students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta in Indonesia. The research findings demonstrated that the instructional design of mathematics-based accounting learning effectively improves student learning performance during distance learning. Meanwhile, the use of scaffolding did not generate any significant differences in student learning performance during distance learning

    The role of sociocultural factors on physical fitness in PON-achieving students from watershed area schools

    Sociocultural factors can contribute to the level of physical fitness. This study aims to determine the level of students’ physical fitness and the role of sociocultural influences. This research design uses a mix-method explanatory approach that produces quantitative data and is reinforced by qualitative data. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, and the sample of this study was 30 students with achievements in the National Sports Week (PON) who attended schools in the watershed area. The average results of male students' physical fitness data are in the good category (48.27 ml/kg/min), and female students' physical fitness is also in the good category (36.65 ml/kg/min). This condition is supported by the sociocultural roles experienced by students. The sociocultural roles include those of coaches who are firm, disciplined, measured, and motivating; self-awareness of the value of leading a healthy lifestyle, which is reinforced by parents who actively remind and set an example; social support from family and friends; and the influence of the sociocultural environment, which includes local-specific physical activities like farming, hunting, and driving a "jukung" to school. The role of the government provision of infrastructure and facilities in the home and school environment, and the role of teachers who provide extracurricular activities, as well as cultural traditions such as dance and martial arts, have a role in shaping their physical fitness

    Multicultural education patterns in promoting tolerance among high school students

    The study aims to identify: patterns of multicultural education that foster tolerance in SMA BOPKRI 2, SMA N 3, and SMA Al-Azhar 9 Yogyakarta, and the ideal pattern of multicultural education for developing tolerance in senior high schools. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects included the principal, vice principal, and subject teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation of techniques and sources. The results showed that multicultural education patterns play an important role in developing tolerance in high schools. Specifically: SMA BOPKRI 2 Yogyakarta implemented a multicultural approach in accordance with its mandate, vision, mission, and objectives as a multicultural school; SMA Negeri 3 applied a diversity literacy approach, emphasizing the management of student diversity across ethnic, racial, cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds; and SMA Al-Azhar 9 practiced an open and inclusive model of multicultural education aligned with the Islamic principle of Wasathiyah (moderation). The ideal model, which represents the novelty of this research, was conceptualized from the patterns identified in the three schools and is termed the “Moderate Tolerance Empathy Model of Multicultural Education.” This model emphasizes the values of moderate tolerance and empathy as key drivers of mindset, attitudes, and behavior in multicultural senior high schools

    Analisis Kesalahan Siswa Menyelesaikan Masalah Matematika Berdasarkan Gender: Studi Kasus Siswa Perempuan Skor Tinggi

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa perempuan dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika khususnya pada materi eksponen. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 39 siswa kelas X. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, sehingga terpilih 6 siswa yaitu 3 laki-laki dan 3 perempuan dengan skor tinggi. Data dikumpulkan dengan memberikan instrumen tes, wawancara, dan observasi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun siswa perempuan dengan skor akademik tinggi dapat menyelesaikan soal matematika, ia tetap melakukan berbagai jenis kesalahan, terutama pada materi eksponen. Kesalahan tersebut meliputi kesalahan membaca, konsep, prosedur, dan teknik. Perlunya adanya pendekatan pembelajaran matematika untuk memperkuat pemahaman konsep, penerapan prosedur, serta ketelitian teknis dalam menyelesaikan soal

    Beyond Intelligence: The Power of Grit in Achieving Cognitive Excellence Achievement in Chemistry for Sustainable Education

    Academic achievement is often associated with cognitive ability; however, non-cognitive skills, such as grit, also play an important role in determining learning outcomes. Chemistry is a challenging subject because of the many abstract concepts that require perseverance and dedication to comprehend. This study aimed to examine the relationship between grit and students' cognitive achievement in chemistry learning at the secondary school level, as well as to evaluate the extent to which grit affects learning success. The method used was quantitative, with a survey approach of 200 students in class X in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The research instruments consisted of a talent questionnaire and a multiple-choice test to measure cognitive chemistry achievement. The data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation technique after performing prerequisite tests, including normality and homogeneity tests. The results of the analysis showed a significant positive correlation between grit and cognitive achievement (p = 0.001 < 0.05), with a correlation coefficient of 0.234, which is classified as low. These findings indicate that students with higher grit levels tend to have better cognitive performance in chemistry learning, although other factors also play roles. In addition, this study is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal concerning Quality Education, particularly through its focus on the role of non-cognitive skills in learning

    Measurement of Sound Speed Using a Frequency Generator-assisted Resonance Tube for STEM-based Learning

    This study investigates the measurement of the speed of sound in air using a resonance tube assisted by a smartphone-based frequency generator, designed to support STEM-based learning. The experiment follows a quantitative approach, with the length of the air column as the independent variable and the speed of sound as the dependent variable. Control frequencies of 495 Hz, 755 Hz, 1010 Hz, 1270 Hz, and 1530 Hz were generated via a mobile application. Resonance points were identified by observing the peak sound intensity using a digital sound level meter, which indicated the formation of standing waves. The results showed a strong linear relationship between wavelength (λ) and wave period (T), with regression equations λ = 347.62T + 0.0098 (open pipe) and λ = 361.59T − 0.0176 (closed pipe), each with a correlation coefficient of R = 0.99. At room temperature (24.4°C), the measured speed of sound was (347.6 ± 0.2) m/s for the open pipe and (361.6 ± 0.1) m/s for the closed pipe. These results demonstrate that low-cost, smartphone-assisted setups can produce accurate, reliable data. This method enhances student engagement and understanding of acoustic phenomena, providing an accessible and effective model for implementing hands-on STEM-based learning in physics education

    Peningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Peserta Didik pada Materi Energi Terbarukan melalui PjBL-STEM dengan Design Thinking

    Kemampuan berpikir kritis di Indonesia khususnya dalam pembelajaran fisika masih tergolong rendah. Salah satu alternatif yang dinilai efektif untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini adalah model PjBL-STEM dengan Design Thinking (DT). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh model pembelajaran Project based Learning (PjBL)-STEM yang dipadukan dengan DT terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi energi terbarukan. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi-experimental dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Sampel terdiri dari 69 peserta didik kelas X dari salah satu SMA swasta di Tangerang Selatan yang dipilih secara teknik purposive sampling. Hasil post-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelompok eksperimen (M = 59,98) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (M = 51,56), dengan nilai signifikansi 0,03 effect size Cohen’s d sedang (r = 0,5) dan skor N-Gain kategori sedang (0,49). Meski terlihat adanya peningkatan, kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik secara umum masih tergolong rendah. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan design thinking dalam PjBL STEM dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik, terutama pada topik seperti energi terbarukan

    REFECTO: GeoGebra-based Interactive Media for Light Waves Topic

    REFECTO (Recognizing Fundamental Concepts Through Optics) is a GeoGebra-based instructional simulation developed to help students visually understand wave optics concepts, overcoming laboratory limitations while enhancing conceptual mastery and learning outcomes. An R&D framework, employing the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop) across three iterative phases. The Define phase identified pedagogical gaps through literature synthesis and stakeholder interviews. The Design phase integrated multimodal components aligned with learning needs. The Develop phase involved formative validation by five interdisciplinary experts, followed by phased trials with 31 Grade XI students and three physics teachers at SMA FI Jakarta. Data collection combined expert validation metrics and summative assessments. Rigorous analysis included Aiken’s validity index, Cronbach’s alpha reliability using a Likert scale response to measure feasibility and practicality, effectiveness was evaluated using a one-group pretest-posttest design, with data analyzed using n-Gain and Cohen’s d statistics via SPSS. REFECTO demonstrated robust (validity = 0.92; reliability = 0.76). Field testing showed high practicality based on student responses (validity = 0.90; reliability = 0.65) and teacher responses (validity = 0.85; reliability = 0.60), and statistically significant learning gains, with an N-Gain score of 84% (g = 0.84) and large effect size (d = 4.32). This study successfully operationalizes GeoGebra as a transformative tool for physics education, producing REFECTO a validated, scalable resource addressing critical infrastructure limitations in optics instruction. These findings underscore the potential of open-source platforms to bridge pedagogical divides, while supporting active learning as a strategy to improve student learning outcomes
