This study aims to develop a transformative learning model to facilitate social behavior change among street children at Rumah Singgah Kampung Anak Negeri Surabaya. The research adopts the Research and Development (R&D) approach, using the ADDIE model, which comprises Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The study subjects are foster children at UPTD Kampung Anak Negeri Surabaya. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observations, then analyzed descriptively using the Goodman statistical method. The findings indicate that the transformative learning model is effective in improving the social behavior of street children through four key stages: real-life experience, reflection, conceptualization, and implementation. The implementation of this model has yielded positive outcomes, marked by a decrease in rebellious behavior, increased participation in learning activities, and improved socialization skills. The study’s implications suggest that the transformative learning model can serve as an effective approach for education and rehabilitation programs for street children in Indonesia. Keywords: learning models, transformative, street children, social behavior, halfway hous

Collaborative Learning Networks for Farmer Economic Empowerment: A Literature Review

    Get PDF
This article examines the role of Collaborative Learning Networks (CLN) in empowering smallholder farmers economically in developing countries through a narrative literature review. CLN models, such as Farmer Field Schools (FFS), Farmer-to-Farmer Extension (F2FE), and Agricultural Cooperatives, offer solutions to address challenges like poverty, low productivity, limited market access, and vulnerability to economic-climatic shocks. The analysis reveals that CLN models contribute to enhancing technical knowledge, adopting sustainable technologies, and improving market access through multi-stakeholder collaboration. Agricultural Cooperatives are effective in strengthening farmers' bargaining power and income stability, while FFS focuses on building technical capacity. However, CLN efficacy depends on inclusive design, equitable network governance, and integration with structural reforms (e.g., land access, credit, and infrastructure). Challenges such as power imbalances, elite dominance, and hierarchical cultural norms may hinder empowerment outcomes. Policy recommendations include multidimensional programs combining technical training with institutional strengthening, gender quotas for women’s participation, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. CLN holds potential as catalysts for sustainable rural development if supported by holistic and context-sensitive approaches

Strategi imaginatif-analitis dalam memahami paribasan dan provebs

    No full text
This article suggests and illustrates two strategies as the act of reading in decoding proverbs, that is, conceptual based memory to amplify background knowledge and conceptual metaphor hypothesis to work on propositional analysis. Since proverbs are undechiperable at a glance, they require life experience to trace culturally sedimented m e m o r y and analytical tools to grasp the mind deposited in propositions. Background knowledge unlocks imagination to play and analytical analysis provide space f or free interplay, then they meet in the horizon of understanding, free play of imagination. Some parallel English provebs and paribasan (Javanese provebs) are given as examples.

    No full text
Science learning in elementary schools requires learning media that facilitate students to explore knowledge in a fun way through games. One of them is through the Engklek traditional games that integrate technology. For this reason, this study aims to develop Engklek traditional games equipped with QR-Code for science learning of photosynthesis material for grade 4 in elementary schools. This study uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires for validation and practicality tests. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results of this study indicate that from the perspective of teachers and students, media are needed to learn photosynthesis material that can facilitate student activity and involvement. This product was developed using the ADDIE stage, which only includes the analysis, design, and development stages. The characteristics of this media are that it is a banner measuring 200 x 400 cm with a mountain-model. Engklek game design is equipped with a QR-Code card, which is used as an object for presenting material in the form of animated videos, charts, reading tables, and quiz questions. Based on the validity test by material experts and media experts, the product has been categorized as very feasible. Based on the practicality test, the media has also been declared very practical by both teachers and students. Thus, the Engklek traditional games equipped with QR-Code can be recommended for use in science learning of photosynthesis material for grade 4 in elementary schools

    No full text
The current development of learning requires teachers to implement more creative and varied instructional approaches. However, in reality, many learning activities are still applied in a monotonous and unvaried manner, which can indirectly hinder children's creativity. This study aims to examine the effect of funcooking activities on the creativity of children aged 5–6 years. The research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method, using two learning groups: an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through observation to assess the development of children's creativity. The study was conducted in three stages: pretest, treatment, and posttest. The experimental group received the funcooking treatment, while the control group followed conventional learning. The results showed a significant increase in children's creativity between the pretest and posttest after the treatment was given. Therefore, funcooking activities are highly suitable for implementation both in schools and at hom

Analysis of green chemistry content in form IV and V high school chemistry textbooks in Malaysia

    No full text
Malaysia is one of the countries that has integrated the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach in its education curriculum since 2017, to prepare young people with 21st century skills. In the context of chemistry education, Malaysia also applies the concept of Green Chemistry to encourage environmental awareness and improve science literacy through materials relevant to global sustainability issues. This study examines the integration of Green Chemistry principles in Level IV and V high school chemistry textbooks in Malaysia. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive content analysis, the study focuses on six themes: Green Chemistry principles, application fields, presentation stages, presentation levels, locality aspects, and related chemistry concepts. Analysis of the textbooks revealed that seven out of twelve Green Chemistry principles are integrated, with "Preventing Potential Accidents" appearing most frequently (56.52%), followed by "Waste Prevention" (14.50%). The application fields of Green Chemistry predominantly cover health (50.73%) and environmental issues (28.99%). Presentation stages emphasize content deepening (52.17%) and core materials (21.74%), while presentation levels are largely explicit (52.17%), enhancing conceptual clarity. However, locality aspects are underrepresented, with global contexts dominating (92.75%) over local ones (7.25%). The integration of related chemistry concepts includes "Acid and Base" (26.09%) and "Organic Compounds" (18.84%) as the most frequent. Despite the significant integration of Green Chemistry, the study highlights gaps in contextual representation and recommends future research focus on enhancing the relevance of textbook content to local and global environmental issues
