Batam City, an industrial hub in the Riau Kepulauan Province, Indonesia, boasts a significant immigrant population and occupies a strategic position along international shipping routes, bordering other nations. The city experiences one of the fastest population growth rates in Indonesia, including a surge in student numbers. The current number of elementary school students and the number of junior high and high school students in the next few years play an important role  for sustainable development, aligning with the government's Golden Indonesia Vision 2045, which aims to cultivate a high-quality and productive generation. To support this initiative, accurate projections of student numbers, particularly in high schools, are essential. This study focuses on forecasting the number of senior secondary school students in Batam City for 2035. Utilizing data from the Batam City Statistics Agency spanning 2019 to 2022. To achieve the research goals, the authors employed the Smoothing Exponential Brown Parameter to project figures for 2023-2035. The optimal projection was achieved with α=0.99, estimating 29,988 high school students in Batam City by 2030 and 34,775 by 2035. The research findings indicate that the Batam City government is highly recommended to formulating the policies and planning to establish 18 new secondary schools, addressing potential shortages in classrooms and educational institutions. Additionally, the study urges the local government need to ensure the availability of 1,879 teachers of secondary school by 2035 in Batam City. These projections can assist the administration in effectively planning for educational resources to deliver quality education by 2025, contributing to the realization of the Golden Indonesia Vision 204

    No full text
The increasing demand for learning platforms that effectively integrate local wisdom and cultural content necessitates an understanding of user expectations, especially among pre-service elementary teachers (PSETs) who will utilize these tools. This study aims to identify the expectations of PSET students regarding the design and implementation of a culture-integrated Learning Management System (LMS), and to explore the challenges they encounter in its use. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, collecting data through a survey administered to 30 PSETs and in-depth interviews with four participants (two male and two female) from the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program at Yogyakarta State University. The findings reveal seven main aspects that affect the LMS user experience: ease of access, clarity of navigation, material management, speed of assignment collection, technical problems, timely notification, and discussion features. The survey and interview results indicate that technical issues and accessibility remain the primary challenges, while aspects of material management and speed of assignment submission receive positive ratings. Students emphasize the importance of interactive features, culturally relevant content, and an improved LMS interface design. This study concludes that continuous improvements in accessibility, technical support, and the strategic integration of culturally relevant content are crucial for enhancing the learning experience of PSETs. These findings contribute to the body of knowledge by providing specific, empirically-driven design and implementation recommendations for developers and educators seeking to create culturally sensitive and effective digital learning environments for future elementary school teachers

    No full text
Work engagement was a key psychological construct linked to employee well-being and organizational productivity. Drawing from the Job Demands-Resourcess (JD-R) model, this study investigates the predictive roles of personal and job resources specifically resilience and social support on work engagement. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 157 employees of a manufacturing company in Indonesia. Standardized scales measured resilience, social support, and work engagement. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed a significant joint contribution of resilience and social support to work engagement (R = 0.603, p < .01). Partial correlations further showed that both resilience (r = .333, p < .01) and social support (r = .270, p < .01) individually had significant positive relationships with work engagement. This result indicated that 36.4% of the variance in work engagement had been explained by the combined contribution of resilience and social support. Specifically, resilience accounted for 20.72% of the variance, while social support accounted for 15.67% of the variance in work engagement. These findings support the JD-R model and underscore the importance of enhancing individual and environmental resourcess in the workplace. Practical implications include the development of resilience training programs and the strengthening of support systems to promote work engagement in organizational settings
