The feasibility of flipbook-based Wawasan Nusantara teaching materials in citizenship learning
Learning media has a significant influence on learning outcomes. Using appropriate media can increase motivation, understanding, retention, practical skills, accessibility and collaboration in learning. However, the effectiveness of media also depends on design, implementation and learning context. Therefore, educators need to choose and design media that suits the goals and needs of students. This research aims to (1) produce flipbook-based Wawasan Nusantara teaching material products and (2) Understand the feasibility of flipbook-based Wawasan Nusantarateaching materials. The development model used in this research is ADDIE. The needs analysis results of lecturers and students show that the need for flipbook-based Indonesian insight teaching materials is enormous. The material expert validation results were 98.46% in the outstanding category, and the media expert validation was 90.58% in the exceptional category. The results of student assessments regarding the acceptability of teaching materials include very high acceptability, with a score of 4.94. So, it can be concluded that flipbook-based Indonesian language insight teaching materials are suitable for citizenship education learning. Teachers and students can use flipbook-based Indonesian language insight teaching materials as teaching materials in learning activities to help improve student learning
Board games and Pancasila education: Teachers' perspectives in supporting global diversity
Global diversity is an important element in the era of globalisation to form students able to adapt to intercultural situations. Teachers as facilitators help students achieve this by paying attention to learning components such as the media used. Teachers must have the instinct that the media used must have an impact on knowledge and attitudes. So, it is necessary for teachers' perceptions regarding board game learning media to help develop media. This study aims to determine Pancasila Education teachers' perceptions of board game media in interactive learning based on global diversity. The study used a mixed method with a concurrent equal status model. Quantitative and qualitative instruments refer to three aspects of interactive learning (student engagement, independent learning and cognitive load). Quantitative data were obtained through surveys, while qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews to support quantitative findings. The subjects of the study were Pancasila Education teachers in 12 Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools/MTSs throughout the city of Yogyakarta. The results of the study showed that interactive board game media based on global diversity supports Pancasila education learning. Teachers provide the perception that board games need to be adjusted to the values of diversity and inclusion and based on high-order thinking skills, also need to provide collaborative challenges, positive reward and punishment systems, and independent tasks such as art projects or essays. The material must be relevant to students, have simple rules and be age-appropriate. Interactive learning can strengthen the appreciation of differences in views and cultures, preserve noble values and improve intercultural adaptation
Indonesia's identity politics and populism: Disruption to national cohesion
The principle of unity in diversity in Indonesia is increasingly challenged by the rise of identity politics and populism. These dynamics emerge as a confluence of pragmatic political strategies and the mobilisation of sectarian groups, often leveraging religious and ethnic sentiments during election campaigns. While effective in garnering popular support, such tactics undermine national unity and social cohesion, serving as a shortcut to power at the cost of societal harmony. This issue is particularly pronounced in district head elections, where the politicisation of tribal, religious, racial, and inter-community identities has become pervasive. These elections, intended to reflect democratic principles, are frequently overshadowed by divisive identity-based politics. This paper examines how identity politics and populism significantly threaten social cohesion, especially during general elections. Employing a normative research methodology, it analyses legal norms and ethical theories to argue against the use of identity politics and populism at any level of political campaigns. The findings reveal that practical politics in Indonesia often relies on these divisive strategies for electoral success, exacerbating pre-existing societal tensions. The paper posits that identity politics can be overcome with reinterpreting it and referring to Pancasila as a principle to attain better policy
Civic engagement of Tengger indigenous community in strengthening ecological citizenship
This study aims to analyze the involvement of the Tengger Indigenous People in strengthening ecological citizenship. Using a case study approach, this research examines how the values of Tri Hita Karana which emphasize harmony between humans and God (parahyangan), among fellow humans (pawongan), and with the environment (palemahan) support sustainable nature conservation practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving traditional leaders, community members, and key stakeholders in the Tengger region. The findings reveal that civic engagement rooted in local wisdom contributes to the preservation of natural resources such as water, reduces soil erosion, and promotes the sustainability of the Mount Bromo ecosystem. Moreover, collective community participation through traditional rituals such as Kasada and Entas-entas serves as a mechanism for fostering environmental awareness and strengthening social cohesion. These findings align with the theory of ecological citizenship, which posits that local community involvement in environmental stewardship is a critical factor in ensuring ecological sustainability. The study recommends the integration of local wisdom into sustainable conservation policies as an effective bottom-up approach
How Do Toxic Environments, Negative Gossip, And Islamic Workplace Spirituality Influence Knowledge Hiding?
AbstractThis study examines the impact of toxic workplace environments and negative workplace gossip on information concealing among lecturers. Furthermore, this research also investigates the influence of spirituality in the workplace from an Islamic standpoint as a moderating factor. This study centres on the academicians of private universities in Lampung, Indonesia. Data collection was conducted by delivering questionnaires to participants through both offline and online channels. The software application for data analysis is Jeffreys's Amazing Statistics Program (JASP). These results indicate a positive correlation between toxic workplace environments, unfavourable gossip, and knowledge hiding. Hence, it has been shown that workplace spirituality moderates the relationships inside toxic workplace environments. Negative workplace gossip correlates favourably with knowledge hiding. This study enhances the existing body of knowledge on social exchange theory by providing empirical evidence that validates the existence of social exchange in interpersonal interactions among academicians.
Women Worker Pay Gaps: 'Sticky Floors' And 'Glass Ceilings', in Indonesia
The study tested wage disparities across Indonesian wage distribution the peak of women's careers. Using data from the fifth wave of the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS-5), the study employed logistic regression analysis. The results show that the influence of work types and health insurance on women's wage disparities has a significant and negative impact on the Glass Ceiling (GC) phenomenon, especially on private female workers, farm women workers, and unpaid female labourers. The main results of this study show that the type of work that female workers do in Indonesia is still classified the Sticky Floor (SF). The study emphasizes the need for interventions to address gender inequality in the Indonesian workforce, including gender-inclusive policies, audits, equal pay, mentorship programs, workshops, and training sessions, to create a more equitable workforce
Management Of Smart Tourism Implementation And Creative Economy Collaboration As A Strategy For Sustainable Tourism Development In Yogyakarta
This study aims to analyse the role of smart tourism management and creative economy collaboration as strategies for sustainable tourism development in Yogyakarta. A quantitative method was used, involving 200 respondents consisting of tourism business operators, local communities, and tourists. Data was collected through questionnaires using a 1-5 Likert scale, then analysed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression to test the effect of the independent variables of smart tourism management and creative economy collaboration on the dependent variable of sustainable tourism. The results showed that the implementation of smart tourism, such as information technology, service digitalisation, and destination management systems, had a significant effect on tourism sustainability, while creative economy collaboration through local product development, community participation, and business innovation contributed more to supporting environmental preservation, improving the local economy, and strengthening cultural identity. These findings recommend the integration of technology-based policies and creative economic empowerment as key strategies for developing tourism in Yogyakarta, with a focus on improving human resource capacity and digital infrastructure. The implications of this research highlight the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration to achieve holistic sustainability goals
Analysis Of Financial Performance And Strategies For Increasing The Minimum Core Capital Of Bank BPD In Accordance With The Provisions Of Pojk No. 12/Pojk.03/2020
This study aims to analyze the financial performance and strategies for increasing the core capital of Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) Banks in accordance with the Financial Services Authority of Indonesia (OJK) Regulation No. 12/POJK.03/2020 concerning the Consolidation of Commercial Banks, which stipulates a minimum core capital of IDR 3 trillion by 2024. The financial performance assessment was carried out using the CAMEL, RGEC, and Altman Z-Score models. The research employed a descriptive-comparative approach. The observation period covered 2023–2024 with a sample of ten BPD Banks categorized under Core Capital Group 1. The CAMEL analysis indicates that Bank Sultra, Bank Sulteng, Bank NTB Syariah, Bank SulutGo, and Bank Bengkulu fall within the sound category, while the other five (5) BPDs are categorized as fairly sound. The RGEC analysis shows that Bank Sultra, Bank NTB Syariah, Bank NTT, Bank BJB Syariah, Bank Malulu Malut, Bank Bengkulu, and Bank Banten are deemed sound, whereas the other three (3) BPD banks are assessed as fairly sound. The Altman Z-Score results show that nine (9) BPD banks are financially sound, with only Bank Banten positioned within the grey area. Strategies to enhance the core capital of BPDs can be pursued through: (a) increasing local government shareholding; (b) consolidating with BPDs in Core Capital Groups 2 or 3; (c) consolidating with other BPDs in Core Capital Group 1; (d) attracting investment from state-owned banks (BUMN) or private banks; (e) engaging non-bank investors, both domestic and international; and (f) conducting a rights issue for BPDs already listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
Using gamified quizzes to enhance students' English reading comprehension skills
This study sought to determine whether the use of quiz applications significantly impacts reading comprehension skills among students at Junior High School 1 Yogyakarta. The research employed a quasi-experimental design, utilizing pre- and post-tests administered to both control and experimental groups. The instrument of this research was a reading test that was given to 25 students in each class of pre-test and post-test. The data analyzed; the researcher used SPSS version 25. The data showed that in descriptive statistics the mean score from pretest control was 44.07 and 47.87 of pre-experiment while the test was getting more improvement in post-test. In post-control was 66.60 while post-test experiment was 80.63. In normality test showed that the significant score was >0.05 which means this test was normally distributed and homogeneity of variance showed the scores are of significance was >0.05 which meant the test was homogeneity. Finally, to analyze the impact of the quizzes in reading comprehension, the researcher used a paired sample test which showed that those pairs, namely pre-control to post control, were 0.00 which meant <0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significantly improvement in students' reading comprehension skill in English used quizzes
Politeness expressions in German textbooks: Cultural values representation and relevance in foreign language learning
German textbooks typically emphasize grammatical and lexical aspects while paying less attention to pragmatic elements, especially politeness strategies that reflect native speakers’ cultural values. The study examined polite expression forms, functions, and the cultural value of German textbooks and analyzed their relevance to the development of intercultural competence. We used a qualitative research design based on the German textbook Netzwerk A1, A2, and B1, authored by Dengler et al. (2020) and published by Ernst Klett Sprachen GmbH as a data source. Data were collected through reading and recording techniques, then analyzed using pragmatic matching and distributional methods. The validity was checked through observation, triangulation, and peer review. The analysis revealed five main categories of politeness forms: (1) grammatical and lexical forms, (2) standard expressions of politeness, (3) modal particles, (4) formal pronouns Sie 'your', and (5) indirect questions. These forms consistently showed German cultural values such as social hierarchy, formality, and politeness norms. Given the results, we suggest that German textbooks should include more sociopragmatic elements to help students develop better cross-cultural communication skills
