Academic research as an optional final assignment: Legal analysis and educational consequences
This article aims to evaluate the concept and implementation of government policy, making academic writing a mandatory final assignment option for students. The evaluation focuses on related laws and regulations, especially the Ministerial Regulation issued by the government since 2023. Therefore, this study is relevant by describing the policy, which has been in effect for almost a year. The policy is within the authority of the central government and relevant ministers. Apart from that, the policy is in line with one of the principles of higher education in an effort to keep up with changes and developments over time. However, some provisions are not in sync with the Ministerial Regulation, which forms the legal basis for implementing the policy. Apart from that, the policy deviates from the concept of education and higher education and existing laws and regulations which regulate education and higher education. This research is normative research from a legal perspective and covers the field of education. This research technique was carried out by means of a literature review, which analysed regulations, theories, and expert opinions from a legal and educational perspective

Implications of Sundanese fathers’ parenting for the development of children's character
This study explores the implications of fathers’ parenting on children's character with a special focus on the integration of Sundanese cultural values such as cageur (healthy), bageur (good), bener (right), singer (introspective), and pinter (smart) in fostering children's character. This research was conducted using qualitative methods and phenomenological design. The focus of this research is Sundanese fathers who live in Bandung. The city of Bandung was chosen because its population is predominantly ethnic Sundanese. The research was conducted within a period of 6 months, from February to July 2024, and was preceded by preliminary studies on Sundanese fathers’ parenting patterns conducted since 2016. The participants in this study were Sundanese fathers whose wives are employed. In families where both parents are employed, this study describes their cooperation in childcare. The results of this study show that fathers' parenting in Sundanese families, which apply Sundanese cultural values such as cageur (healthy), bageur (good), bener (right), singer (introspective), and pinter (smart), have a significant impact on children's character development. Through the application of these values, fathers play an important role in supporting children's cognitive and social-emotional development, in accordance with the developmental theories of Jean Piaget and Erik Erikson. Authoritarian parenting can hinder children's cognitive and social-emotional development, while uthoritative parenting supports a balance between discipline and independence. Permissive parenting, in turn, tends to reduce children's discipline and responsibility. Overall, the integration of Sundanese cultural values in fathers' parenting not only shapes children's strong and stable character, but also supports holistic development that includes cognitive, social, and emotional aspects
Knowledge and attitudes towards special educational needs: A study with future teachers
The training of teachers is continually adapting to the needs demanded by today’s society. Special educational needs (SEN) currently represent a challenge that future teachers must approach with favourable attitudes and a willingness to engage. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of knowledge in inclusive education on attitudes towards special educational needs among university students. The research employs a cross-sectional and explanatory design, involving 406 university students from teacher training programmes in Peru. Data were collected using the Inclusive Education Questionnaire and the Attitude Scale towards the Inclusion of Students with SEN, both of which demonstrated adequate validity and reliability indices. The results confirm that teachers' attitudes towards special educational needs are positively and significantly affected by knowledge of the definition and characteristics of inclusive education (β = 0.438, p < 0.05), the importance of this knowledge (β = 0.139, p < 0.05), and knowledge of children's disabilities (β = 0.388, p < 0.05). In conclusion, attitudes can be explained through the knowledge acquired by university students during their professional training. Therefore, teacher education in pedagogy is essential for improving the quality of inclusive education in basic education schools
Re-engineering management: The role of visionary leadership and strategic planning in organizational education transformation
This paper explores the critical intersection of visionary leadership and strategic planning in the context of re-engineering management and organizational transformation. As businesses face rapid changes and increased competition, the need for effective transformation strategies has become paramount. Visionary leadership is identified as a crucial element that motivates and directs organizations through the complexities of change, fostering a shared vision that aligns with strategic goals. Additionally, strategic planning serves as a systematic approach that enables organizations to evaluate their current capabilities, define objectives, and outline actionable steps necessary for successful transformation. The synergy between these two components not only facilitates improved adaptability and innovation but also enhances overall organizational performance. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating visionary leadership and strategic planning as essential tools for navigating transformational challenges and achieving sustainable success in today’s dynamic business environment
The role of spatial and temporal deixis in enhancing narrative understanding in Die Sommer
This study investigates how spatial and temporal deixis shape readers’ understanding of Ronya Othmann’s Die Sommer (2020), a novel alternating between German and Kurdish settings and perspectives. A qualitative analysis of deictic expressions identifies forms of spatial deixis (e.g., specific place names; vertical references like “sits on the floor” vs. “starry sky above”; and dynamic movements) and temporal deixis (e.g., historical years, seasonal markers, tense shifts, and temporal adverbs). Results show spatial deixis anchors Leyla’s story in intercultural spaces, guiding reader orientation and evoking her bicultural identity amid historical conflict. Temporal deixis places events in the general political and historical context, linking personal biography to collective memory. This study presents deixis as a narrative device that enables deeper reader involvement in a transcultural storyworld. By integrating Bühler’s and Ehlich’s deixis theories with narrative analysis, it contributes to understanding narrative structure, complex intercultural dynamics, and multiple cultural perspectives in contemporary transcultural literature and narratives
Exploring mortality: Insights from two female poets through Bassnett’s comparative literature
The concept of mortality has mystified humanity for civilizations, resulting in many arts in which mortality is the central exploration. Often, discussions of mortality are intertwined with religiosity, as faith offers understandings of death and salvation. Hence, this study (1) examines the themes of mortality in two poems entitled “Immortality” by Clare Harner, published in 1934, and “I’m Free” written by Anne Lindgren Davison in 1974, and (2) uncovers the association between the poets' religious beliefs and their attitudes toward death in their poems. Guided by Bassnett's (1993) comparative literature, this study applied a descriptive-qualitative approach, drawing on Wellek and Warren’s (1956) intrinsic and extrinsic elements in literature. Findings reveal that Harner’s “Immortality” is rich with Gypsy religious influence, whereas Davison’s “I’m Free” is strongly affected by the values of Abrahamic religions. The poets’ different uses of intrinsic elements reflect their distinct religious beliefs. Although both poems use a singular first-person point of view and focus on consolation and upliftment, Harner utilizes natural imagery, while Davison uses religious imagery. These illustrate how the poets’ religious backgrounds influence their exploration of mortality, providing poetic insights into death and the beyond.
Modification of control system using PLC and HMI on drill oil hole machine to speed up piston model replacement process time in automotive manufacturing industry
This research was conducted at an automotive manufacturing company that produces pistons. In the piston production process, there are two stages, the first stage is the casting process which can be called the Foundry process, and the second stage is the manufacture of parts which can be called the Machining process. In the Machining process, there is a piston drilling process to make oil holes using a Drill Oil Hole (DOH) machine. The Drill Oil Machine process has a clamping process using a pneumatic cylinder, then determining the points using a servo motor, and the drilling process using a selfeeder motor. This Drill Oil Hole machine has a weakness, namely it still uses the old control system, NC. This NC Control System program cannot be changed, and to change the program, you must contact the vendor directly. In addition, Troubleshooting takes a long time. Therefore, this study aims to change the control system from NC to PLC. This is done by adding a piston template system to reduce downtime and change the piston type model"”furthermore, changes to the HMI display on the DOH machine layer using the Omron NB10W HMI. Meanwhile, the servo motor and its driver use Servo Delta Asda-A2. After replacing the control system from NC-based to PLC CJ2M CPU-11, the DOH machine testing was carried out by the provisions. The use of HMI as the basis for monitoring and the machine operating system by the operator makes it much easier to operate and has several additional features such as piston templates and sensor indicators that are not available in numerical-based control systems. In addition, for the next piston model replacement process, there is no more machine downtime.
Beyond the classroom: How OCB, self-efficacy, and remuneration shape teacher loyalty in non-formal education
This study examines the impact of organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB), self-efficacy, and compensation on teacher loyalty within the context of non-formal education in Indonesia. Employing a quantitative research design with a descriptive approach, data were collected from non-formal education teachers working at Learning Activity Studios (Sanggar Kegiatan Belajar, or SKB) across Indonesia. Structural Equation Modelling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was used for data analysis, processed through SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that both OCB and remuneration have a statistically significant positive effect on teacher loyalty. Additionally, self-efficacy also positively contributes to teacher loyalty, although to a lesser extent. These results highlight the critical role of internal psychological and organisational factors in fostering commitment among non-formal education teachers. It is recommended that SKB managers enhance supportive work environments that promote citizenship behaviour and self-efficacy. Furthermore, government policies should reinforce fair and sustainable remuneration systems to strengthen teacher loyalty and ensure the continued quality of non-formal education services in Indonesia
