ECONOMIC IMPACT OF DROUGHTS ON SECTORAL OUTCOMES IN AFRICAN COUNTRIES
Abstract:Drought as an event exhausts the availability of water use as an input of production inagricultural activities, and reduce labor productivity through hunger and starvation;which has a potential economic spillover beyond agricultural sector to other economicsectors of the economy, based on interconnectedness of sectors and regions.Droughtinducedwater deciency affects production operations in other sectors of an economyapart from agricultural sector; since water availability is characterized by pervasivespillovers effects i.e. the use by one group or region affects the water availability andsecurity of others. This study investigates the economic impact of droughts on sectorialoutput in African countries. The study use Generalized Method of Moment\u27s panelestimator and reported both one-step and two-step results. Dynamic GMM was use forestimation and system GMM was use for robustness. The dataset for the study wasbetween the periods of 1979-2014 for 44 African countries. The results show thatdrought reduces both agricultural and manufacturing output in African countries. Hence,African governments must look into the inter-linkage between this this sectors in designingpolicies to mitigate the impact of this disasters
STOCK MARKET DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS
between stock market development and economic growth, using annual time series datafor Nigeria over the period 1986 to 2017, vis-à-vis econometric techniques such as unitroot test, cointegration test and Granger causality test. The results show that there is along-run relationship among variables used in this study. These ndings also lead toacceptance of the hypothesis that stock market- Led economic growth. Furthermore, theresults obtained from Granger causality test show that causality runs from stock market toeconomic growth. Moreover, the result reveals evidence of uni-directional relationship. The following policy measures are suggested among others that Nigeria should removeimpediments to stock market development such as tax, legal and regulatory barriers. Inaddition there should be sustained effort to stimulate productivity in both the public andprivate sectors. This will leads to improve investment and stimulate growth

EFFECTS OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SOME SELECTED SMES\u27s IN LAGOS STATE
The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of supply chain managementpractices on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria. The researcher primarily used primarydata from 112 SME owners/managers in Lagos State. A structured questionnaire wasused to collect primary data. The collected data was analyzed using regression analysis. The study\u27s hypotheses were tested using the model estimate\u27s probability value. Theregression analysis results show that quality of information and Strategic SupplierPartnership have a positive effect on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria, and the effectis statistically significant (p<0.05). It was suggested, among other things, that themanagerial consideration of the SMEs firm should be based on the specific quality ofinformation using technology because once a solution has been successfully developedand adopted; it is likely to achieve strong network effects. As a result, first-moveradvantages are provided, which will be rewarded with high payoffs from developing thesupply chain network. As a result, take advantage of the opportunity to eliminate theflexibility that a firm may benefit from when dealing with uncertainty
IMPACT OF BANK CREDIT ON THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR IN NIGERIA
This study assess the effect of credit on the manufacturing sector and its impact on output growth in Nigeria from 1995-2020. The study relies mainly on secondary data. This study adopts both descriptive and inferential statistical methods in the data analysis. The OLS estimation test results show that all the explanatory variables are correctly signed according to the a priori expectation. Maximum lending rate, exchange rate and inflation are negatively signed, as expected, although insignificant. For bank credit, results establish a negative relationship between maximum lending rate and bank credit, implying that a decline in lending rate will lead to an increase in bank credit, as economic agents take advantage of the lower cost of funds.. For the Johansen test, findings show the existence of a unique and stable long-run relationship between growth of the manufacturing sector and interest rate, exchange rate, unemployment, inflation, real GDP and credit to the private sector. The results also established a long-run relationship between bank credit and manufacturing sector performance, interest rate, exchange rate, unemployment rate, inflation rate and real gross domestic product. However, the null hypothesis of no Granger causality was accepted for MLR, LNBDC, LNGDP and LNCREDIT. For the Granger causality tests collectively, the combination of all the variables were found to Granger-cause manufacturing sector growth at the 10 per cent level of significance. The Granger causality test on revealed bidirectional causality between real GDP and bank credit. This implies that the level of domestic output in Nigeria determines the level of bank credit and vice versa. The null hypothesis of no causality was accepted for MO, MLR, LNBDC, UNEM and INF as they collectively did not Granger-cause bank credit. The findings of this study have implications that are important for policy makers, investors and researchers on how to improve the performance of the manufacturing sector

CULTURE AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN CHILDREN: AN OVERVIEW OF FULANI CHILDREN\u27S EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE FAR NORTH REGION OF CAMEROON
This paper discusses the interplay of culture as an important of factor of emotional development of Fulani children as well as its regulation. Children develop emotionally, express and regulate emotion with cultural contexts. Cultural models of self and other relations are transmitted through the processes of socialization which in some literature are called parenting beliefs or practices. These beliefs and parenting practices vary across cultures and as such they are likely to affect emotional understanding, expression and regulation in different ways. Within the African context in general and Cameroon in particular, the socialization of children is a collective enterprise and varies across ethnic groups. Cameroon is a multi-ethnic country where almost two hundred and fifty ethnic groups live together. This paper discusses cross-cultural studies on the function of parental support, control, and sensitivity for emotional development and regulation of children in the Far north region of Cameroon. Cultural differences shed light on the importance of taking the cultural context into account when studying emotion in general and specifically its expression and regulation in young children. Cultural views on the developing child and subsequent relations with others are the basis for children\u27s self and emotional development that could either facilitate or hamper emotional expression and regulation which in turn may affect children\u27s socio-emotional adjustment in the respective culture
