Assessing the Freight Transport and Modal Logistics Infrastructure Connectivity in Apapa Seaport
This study focuses on freight transport and modal logistics infrastructure connectivity in Apapa Seaport. The present system of freight movement and distribution from Nigerian seaports is not consistent with the best practices. The delay in cargo clearance from the port to the hinterland is a constraint to logistics schedule of road haulage. Primary data were obtained through the administration of structured questionnaires to clearing agents in Apapa Port and truck drivers that were systematically sampled at the Apapa exit gate. The data gathered were analyzed using descriptive and Anova analysis. The study revealed the availability of major modal logistics infrastructure connectivity that aids onward delivery however some of these logistics infrastructure are obsolete and in poor condition. Furthermore, result using Anova test revealed a statistically significant difference in the mean spatial distribution of cargo. It is therefore recommended that, there is need for a modal shift from road to rail or inland waterways for onward delivery of cargo to different inland container depots (ICDs) in the hinterland to promote sustainable transport system in Nigeria. And also an effective model for integrating different modes of transport in the Port for onward delivery

Corruption is a phenomenon no country is immune to, a fact that the classical view on corruption to concern only less developed countries, even though these countries do score systematically worse in corruption rankings, does not hold. The corruption ofpublic resources in Nigeria has become a daily occurrence and an accepted norm within the public domain. This indeed is the environment the Nigerian civil service exists and operates cumulating into its declining performance. As a colonial heritage, the service has not been able to prevent and immune itself of corrupt practices despite series of reforms, anti-graft agencies like EFCC, ICPC, Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal among others. It is from this stand point drawing from extent literature and content analysis as the methodological basis of the paper, the paper\u27s research findings established that manifestations and factors propelling civil service corruption have severely affected the productivity of the civil servants and exposed the service to the corrupt external tendencies. Therefore, there is need for a pragmatic effort to end corruption in the civil service in collaboration with all anti graft stakeholders. While the civil servants leads, the government must becomes responsive in creating the right working environment that will get rid of the identified factors manifesting and propelling civil service corruption in Nigeria in order to restore the productivity of the workers and its lost glory

Culture is an essential principle of man with specific cultural values and norms which society always conserve and defend against foreign interference. The crux of this research is to consider the effect of cultural traditions on women development in Rivers State: a case study of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council. The population of the study consists of all the indigenes of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area and due to the large scale of the indigenes, the indigenes were limited to a sample size of 200 respondents from four communities namely; Ozuoba, Rumuigbo, Elelenwo and Oginigba. The sample size was selected with the aid of simple random techniques and the data from the field were subjected to a descriptive analysis such as frequency tables, simple percentages imputed on the SPSS version 25 software. The study discovered that child marriage, forced marriage, and female genital mutilation were minimal in the study area while degrading widowhood practices remain widely practiced. A corollary of these negative activities is the school dropout phenomena recorded among young girls due to stigma associated with these harmful and inhuman cultural practices. Based on the findings, the study also proposed that consultation should be conducted by the government to reduce the proliferation of cultural traditions that are inimical to the community

Cross-sectional research design was employed to collectdata from the SMEs owners/managers in northern Nigeria. Population of the study consisted ofSMEs in the sixteen states out of the nineteen states in northern Nigeria, including FCT. The studyused data from 425 respondents out of 493 sample size adopted through stratified randomsampling. Questionnaires were distributed and collected through the personally-administeredmethod. A Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyse thedata with the aid of Smart PLS 3.2.8 and to test the hypotheses of the study. The findings show thatinformation asymmetry has negative and significant impact on access to finance. Again, financialregulations do moderate the impact of information asymmetry on access to finance by SMEs inNorthern Nigeria. The study therefore, conclude that information asymmetry reduced SMEs accessto finance and effective financial regulations improve access to finance.
