2021 National Assessment of Information Acquisition and Processing and ICT in Primary Education in Flanders
In 2021 a national assessment was carried out, which was commissioned by the Flemish government, to assess whether pupils have sufficient skills to acquire and process information at the end of primary education. This assessment is a reiteration of the previous assessment on information acquisition and processing in 2012. Data were collected through three written tests: a test on working with tables and graphs, a test on working with plans and drawings, and a test on working with texts. The latter of these three was newly added compared to the assessment in 2012. A representative sample of 2597 pupils from 83 Flemish primary schools participated. In addition, a practical test was administered to a subsample of 447 pupils to assess certain ICT competencies. This practical test consisted of three assignments. Tests were supplemented with questionnaires for pupils, parents, teachers and ICT coordinators. These questionnaires collected, among other things, information on pupils' home situation, pupils' familiarity with ICT and how IVV and ICT are addressed in class. The response rates to the questionnaires were 94% for pupils, 94% for parents, 84% for teachers and 65% for ICT coordinators.
2010 National Assessment of Dutch in the Third Grade of Secondary Education in Flanders (General - Technical - Art Track)
In 2010 a national assessment was carried out, which was commissioned by the Flemish government, to assess the extent to which students have achieved the attainment targets for Dutch (reading, listening and speaking) at the end of the third grade of general, technical and art secondary education. Data were collected through two written tests: a reading test and a listening test. A representative sample of 3957 pupils from 149 Flemish secondary schools participated. In addition, 380 pupils of the art track, from 5 schools participated in the study. A performance assessment was also administered to assess the attainment targets for speaking. This speaking test was administered to a subsample of 888 students. Tests were supplemented by questionnaires for students, parents and teachers. The student questionnaires asked, among other things, about their reading and listening behaviour at home and at school and their opinions about the importance of Dutch. The parent questionnaire collected information on their child, the family background and their involvement in school. Teachers were, among other things, questioned about the didactic aspects of Dutch classes, the teaching materials used and the language policy at school. The response rates to these questionnaires were 99% for the students, 88% for the parents and 92% for the teachers.
Replication Data for: Stiffness Matters: Improved Failure Risk Assessment of Ascending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms
This data set contains data that was analyzed within the context of a clinical study to find a better in vivo predictor to assess the dissection or rupture risk of ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm.
The excel sheet contains three different tabs:
* tab: 'Overview': shows all the data that was analyzed within the context of this clinical study: general, therapeutical, geometrical, surgical, histological and mechanical data of the aneurysm
* tab: 'Mechanics': shows an in-depth overview of the mechanical data of each patient: fitted in vivo thickness and material properties, fitting quality measures, wall strengths, applied loading conditions, deterministic peak wall stresses, deterministic and propabilistic failure risks
* tab: 'Probabilistic_PWS_ATAA00X': shows the 10 000 inputs (In vivo thickness and diastolic blood pressure) and outputs (PWS in circumferential and axial direction) of the probabilistic wall stress estimation for patient ATAA00X (X=1...33). Additionally, the variables (mu and sigma) to describe the lognormal probability density function which was fitted over the peak wall stresses are give

2005 National Assessment of World Orientation (Nature) in Primary Education in Flanders
In 2005 a national assessment was carried out, which was commissioned by the Flemish government, to assess whether pupils have achieved the attainment targets for world orientation (nature domain) at the end of primary education. Data were collected through six written subtests, which fit within three broad categories: (a) human body, (b) nature around us and (c) non-living nature. A representative sample of 4592 pupils from 145 Flemish primary schools participated. Each pupil participated in four subtests, on a chance basis. In addition, performance assessments were administered to assess whether pupils have mastered certain caring and research skills. These performance assessments were administered to a subsample of 1028 pupils. Tests were supplemented with questionnaires for pupils and teachers to collect background information. In the pupil questionnaires, a few short questions were asked about the students themselves. Teachers were questioned about themselves, their classroom practices and some student characteristics.
