Replication Data for: Intracellular BAPTA directly inhibits PFKFB3, thereby impeding mTORC1-driven Mcl-1 translation and killing MCL-1-addicted cancer cells (supplementary data)
Datasets that support the supplementary figures published in Sneyers et al, Cell Death and Disease (2023). The project aims to decipher how BAPTAi limits the survival of B-cell cancers, more specifically by its Ca2+-independent effects. We can conclude from these data that BAPTAi inhibits the activity of the glycolytic enzyme PFKFB3, thereby deactivating mTORC1-driven translation, resulting in MCL-1 downregulation. As a consequence, BAPTAi treatment results in cell death in MCL-1 dependent cancers. (2023-08-24
2015 National Assessment of Natural Sciences in the First Grade of Secondary Education in Flanders (A-stream)
In 2015 a national assessment was carried out, which was commissioned by the Flemish government, to assess the extent to which students have achieved the attainment targets for natural sciences at the end of the first grade of secondary education (A-stream). Data were collected through seven written tests: 'flowering plants', 'human', 'human reproduction', 'organisms in their environment', 'matter', 'energy' and 'scientific skills'. A representative sample of 3369 students from 112 Flemish secondary schools participated. In addition, there was a practical test that consisted of three tasks: (1) completing a search chart and a determination table, (2) determining the mass and volume of matter, and (3) performing an experiment. This practical test was administered to a subsample of 648 students. Tests were supplemented with questionnaires for students, parents and science teachers. These questionnaires collected information on background characteristics of the students and their families, students' and parents' attitudes, classroom practices, and school policies. The response rates to these questionnaires were 99% for students and 91% for parents. Teachers were able to complete part of the questionnaire online, for which the response rate was 97%. For the paper part, the response rate was 96%.in 2015 vond een peiling plaats in opdracht van de Vlaamse overheid om na te gaan in welke mate leerlingen op het einde van de eerste graad van het secundair onderwijs (A-stroom) de eindtermen voor natuurwetenschappen hebben behaald. De gegevens werden verzameld door middel van zeven schriftelijke toetsen: ‘bloemplanten’, ‘mens’, ‘voortplanting bij de mens’, ‘organismen in hun omgeving’, ‘materie’, ‘energie’ en ‘wetenschappelijke vaardigheden’. Deze toetsen werden afgenomen bij een representatieve steekproef van 3369 leerlingen uit 112 Vlaamse secundaire scholen. Daarnaast werd er ook een praktische proef afgenomen die bestond uit drie opdrachten: (1) een zoekkaart en een determineertabel aanvullen, (2) de massa en het volume van materie bepalen en (3) een experiment uitvoeren. Deze praktische proef werd afgenomen bij een deelsteekproef van 648 leerlingen. Naast de toetsen en de praktische proef werden ook vragenlijsten afenomen bij leerlingen, ouders en leerkrachten natuurwetenschappen. Deze vragenlijsten verzamelden informatie over de algemene achtergrondkenmerken van de leerlingen en hun gezin, de attitudes van de leerlingen en ouders, de klaspraktijk en het schoolbeleid. De responsgraad op deze vragenlijsten bedroeg 99% voor de leerlingen en 91% voor de ouders. De leerkrachten konden een deel van de vragenlijst online invullen, waarvoor de responsgraad 97% was. FIR Channel Models for Ultrasound In-Body Communication using Scattering Gelatin Phantoms
This dataset aims to enhance the design of an in-body communication system using ultrasound waves as an information carrier. To this end, we carried out channel impulse response (CIR) characterizations of custom-fabricated gelatin phantoms of rectangular geometries. The used transducers are mm-scale, omnidirectional, ~1MHz ultrasound transducers. The channel impulse responses are represented by least-squares fitting on a finite impulse response (FIR) model with 2000 taps sampled at 5MHz, capable of capturing an impulse response duration of 400us.
The phantoms are characterized in two different scenarios: i) surrounded by an anechoic water tank (mimicking in-body communication), and ii) by the open air (mimicking on-body communication).
Finally, to improve channel realism, a subset of phantoms have custom-inserted chicken bones.

Replication Data for: "Joint and tissue mechanics in post-traumatic osteoarthritis: insights from the rat model"
Destabilization of the medial meniscus (DMM) is widely recognized as a preclinical gold standard model for studying post-traumatic osteoarthritis, believed to cause instability and locally increased loading. However, the mechanical environment at the joint and tissue levels remains insufficiently documented. In this study, we evaluated the joint and tissue biomechanics in rats subjected to sham surgery and DMM.
We collected high-fidelity experimental gait data using a setup that integrates biplanar fluoroscopy with a ground reaction force plate. Knee angles and joint-level loading were estimated through musculoskeletal modeling, using bony landmarks semi-automatically tracked via deep learning on fluoroscopic images, alongside ground reaction forces. A rat hindlimb musculoskeletal model was adapted to represent knee flexion-extension, valgus-varus, and internal-external rotation. Subsequently, the tissue-level cartilage mechanical environment was spatially estimated by inputting the musculoskeletal modeling parameters into a dedicated finite element (FE) model of the rat knee, which included cartilage and meniscal tissues
2008 National assessment of Mathematics in the First Grade of Secondary Education in Flanders (B-stream)
In 2008 a national assessment was carried out, which was commissioned by the Flemish government, to assess the extent to which students have achieved the developmental goals for mathematics at the end of the first grade of secondary education (B-stream). Data were collected through 14 written tests covering 6 domains: (1) number sense and main operations, (2) pocket calculator, (3) money and arithmetic in practical situations, (4) geometry, (5) information acquisition and processing, and (6) measuring. A representative sample of 5792 students from 195 Flemish secondary schools participated. Tests were supplemented with background questionnaires for students, parents, and mathematics teachers. The student questionnaire collected, among other things, information on their family situation and perceptions of mathematics classes. The parent questionnaire collected information on their child and the family situation. Mathematics teachers were, among other things, questioned about their class, teaching experience, and classroom practices. The response rates to these questionnaires were 92% for the student questionnaire, 82% for the parent questionnaire, and 98% for the teacher questionnaire.In 2008 vond een peiling plaats in opdracht van de Vlaamse overheid om na te gaan in welke mate leerlingen op het einde van de eerste graad van het secundair onderwijs (B-stroom) de ontwikkelingsdoelen voor wiskunde hebben behaald. De gegevens werden verzameld door middel van 14 schriftelijke toetsen die ondergebracht kunnen worden in 6 domeinen: (1) getalinzicht en hoofdbewerkingen, (2) zakrekenmachine, (3) geld en rekenen in praktische situaties, (4) meetkunde, (5) informatieverwerving- en verwerking, en (6) meten. De toetsen werden afgenomen bij een representatieve steekproef van 5792 leerlingen uit 195 Vlaamse secundaire scholen. Naast toetsen werden ook vragenlijsten afgenomen bij leerlingen, ouders en wiskundeleerkrachten. In de leerlingvragenlijsten werd onder meer gevraagd naar hun gezinssituatie en hun perceptie van de lessen wiskunde. De oudervragenlijst verzamelde informatie over hun kind en de gezinssituatie. De wiskundeleerkrachten werden bevraagd over onder meer hun onderwijservaring, de klaspraktijk en hun klas. De respons op deze vragenlijsten was 92% voor de leerlingvragenlijst, 82% voor de oudervragenlijst en 98% voor de leerkrachtvragenlijst
2016 National Assessment of Mathematics in Primary Education in Flanders
In 2016 a national assessment was carried out, which was commissioned by the Flemish government, to assess whether pupils have achieved the attainment targets for mathematics at the end of primary education. This assessment is a reiteration of the national assessments on mathematics in 2002 and 2009. Data were collected through 13 written tests. A representative sample of 5421 pupils from 190 Flemish primary schools participated. In addition, a performance assesment was administered, consisting of two assignments: the first assignment assessed several attainment targets related to estimation and measuring, and the second assignment focused on spatial orientation. A subsample of five students per site participated in this practical test: 532 students completed the first assignment and 525 students completed the second assignment. Tests were supplemented with background questionnaires for pupils, parents and teachers. These questionnaires collected, among other things, information on background characteristics of the pupils and their families, attitudes of the pupils and their parents toward mathematics, and classroom practices. The response rates to these questionnaires were 99% for pupils and 96% for parents. Teachers were able to complete part of the questionnaire online. For this online part, the response rate was 93%. For the paper part, the response rate was 94%.In 2016 vond een peiling plaats in opdracht van de Vlaamse overheid om na te gaan in welke mate leerlingen op het einde van het basisonderwijs de eindtermen wiskunde hebben behaald. Deze peiling is een herhaling van de peilingen wiskunde 2002 en 2009. De gegevens werden verzameld door middel van 13 schriftelijke toetsen. Deze toetsen werden afgenomen bij een representatieve steekproef van 5421 leerlingen uit 190 Vlaamse basisscholen. Verder werd er ook een praktische proef afgenomen die bestond uit twee opdrachten: één opdracht ('rugzak') toetste een aantal eindtermen over schatten en meten en één opdracht ('plattegrond') ging over ruimtelijke oriëntatie. Aan de praktische proef nam een deelsteekproef van vijf leerling per vestigingsplaats deel. Het ging om 532 leerlingen die de opdracht 'rugzak' aflegden en 525 leerlingen die de opdracht 'plattegrond' aflegden. Daarnaast werden ook vragenlijsten afgenomen bij leerlingen, ouders en leerkrachten. Deze vragenlijsten verzamelden onder andere informatie over de algemene achtergrondkenmerken van de leerlingen en hun gezin, over de attitudes van leerlingen en hun ouders ten opzichte van wiskunde, over de klaspraktijk en over de didactische aanpak van de leerkracht. De responsgraad op deze vragenlijsten bedroeg 99% voor de leerlingen en 96% voor de ouders. De leerkrachten konden een deel van de vragenlijst online invullen, waarvoor de responsgraad 93% was. Replication Data for: A virtual sensing approach for quality and productivity optimization in laser flame cutting
This dataset contains experimental data for the published paper "A virtual sensing approach for quality and productivity optimization in laser flame cutting". The dataset consists of the recorded videos and simulation model files. The simulation model can be used by the next generation of the researchers to evaluate the plate temperature distribution during laser cutting.
