水の象徴 : E.M. フォースターの短編研究
Get PDFE.M. フォースターは、長編は5編しか書かなかったが、短編は数多く書いている。彼の、鋭い人間観察に基づく写実的な描写、人間の愚かしさに喜劇的なものを認め揶揄するが、必ずしも冷たくはない軽やかな筆致、あっと驚くストーリー展開の妙は誰しも認める魅力だろう。そしてさらに、この作家の作品にしばしば素晴らしい奥行きを与えているのが、『永遠性』へのヴィジョンである。あるいは『真実なるもの」への直観と言い換えてもよいかもしれない。この小論では、2編の短編において、この永遠性へのヴィジョンがどのような共通の象徴を用いて表現されているかを見ていきたいと思う。departmental bulletin pape
ド・クインシー著「異教の神託」－ドクサと二律背反－
Get PDFEdward Sackville West, in his well-known biography of Thomas De Quincey, A Flame in Sunlight, offers a negative critique of De Quincey's "Secret Societies" and "On the Essenes." West claims that the opiumeater's arguments in these essays lacked historical evidence, and they are distinguished by "bad taste and ignorance" (p. 307). West acknowledges that he prefers another essay of the same topic, "The Pagan Oracles," which is the focus of this present paper. Are these essays, however, as different as West seems to suggest? In comparing these two essays, as well as others that explore similar themes of "secrecy," I aim to uncover an unlikely strategy that De Quincey employs as he flashes what seem on the surface to be outrageous opinions. My aim is to offer some curious mode of enlightenment on behalf of the reading public. 宮良長包の音楽教育活動に関する研究(6)－作品研究3(昭和篇-(2))－
Get PDF宮良長包の作品は、現在、169曲が確認されている。しかし、いまだ埋もれている未発掘作品の可能性や、曲名は判明しているが旋律不明のもの、作曲年が確認できないものもあり、作品研究はさらに進めていかなければならないだろう。筆者は、宮良長包の作品研究について、「宮良長包の音楽教育活動に関する研究(4)－作品研究1(明治・大正篇）－」、※「宮良長包の音楽教育活動に関する研究(5)－作品研究2（昭和前期篇）－」を発表してきたが、本論文はその後続研究として、昭和7年から10年に作曲した37作品について、※「昭和篇－(2)」とし、作品解題を行うものである。長包の作曲活動における昭和期（昭和元年～14年）は、もっとも充実した時期であり、昭和元年から6年は40曲、昭和7年から10年は37曲、昭和11年から14年は25曲を作曲し、作曲数からも活発な時期だったことが窺える。特に、県内外で知られている代表作「安里屋ユンタ」（1934）や、唯一のオーケストラ曲「嵐の曲／嵐の歌」(1934)は昭和期の作品である。本論文で述べる「昭和篇－(2)」（昭和7年から10年）の作品の特徴は、声楽曲が圧倒的に多い長包作品の中では異色ともいえるオーケストラ曲の創作や、沖縄民謡を元歌にした作品が多いこと、校歌作品はヨナ抜き旋法に加えて7音音階もあること、問答形式の曲が確認できること、混合拍子が依然として多いこと、作曲数は37曲と多いが、曲名のみ確認でき旋律不明の曲が14曲もあることなどが挙げられる。また、戦前の校歌歌詞が戦後になって、時代にそぐわないとして1部分を手直ししている学校や、統廃合により新しい学校へと移行する中で、長包の校歌が姿を消す学校も見られた。今後、長包の作品研究を継続して行うことにより、長包音楽の全容が徐々に明らかにされるだけではなく、沖縄県の音楽教育の変遷をも鳥瞰できることになるだろう。departmental bulletin pape
沖縄県の子どもを取り巻く状況～沖縄市の事例を中心に～
Get PDFThis research aims to clarify the role of kindergarten and nursery schools. Nowadays, these public facilities are required to provide support to parents in nurturing their children in view of the rapid advancement of an aging society with fewer children. After the Battle of Okinawa, these schools were assigned a unique role; they have adopted an approach that is different from that of their counterparts in mainland Japan. This approach, developed by historical factors such as the reversion of Okinawa, contains problems. We should carefully discuss the role of public services that are not based on market principles and facilitate the provision of the necessary support by strengthening cooperation with other public facilities.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFThis article deals with a study of development of reading education program. The author believes that the goal of education is to enable the rising generation to "live freely". Three abilities; "imagination", "critical thinking" and "meta-cognitive ability that supports self-control" are needed to be developed for one to "live freely". Recognizing that reading as the best method to develop the three abilities, "Reading for Freedom" was proposed (Uehara, 2007) as a systematic reading education program that meets the needs of children's stage of development. No full textエヴィデンシャリティーは情報源を特定化する言語範疇である。これまで、文法範疇としてのエヴィデンシャリティーに関する琉球語の研究は、テンス・アスペクトなどの時制範疇として分類されたり、様相範疇に属するものと分類されたりと別の文法範疇との混乱により見落とされてきた。本稿ではエヴィデンシャリティーの概念を用いれば、これまで解明されなかった事例を解決できるものと提案する。本稿の大半はエヴィデンシャリティーに関する言語理論の展開を提示することに集中し、その後、琉球語のエヴィデンシャリティーが体系的にどのように分析されるべきかについて言及する。主な提案は、琉球語は1つのdirect evidentialと3種類のindirect evidentials(Inference, Assumed, Reportative)で構成されるエヴィデンシャルシステムをもつというものである。特にdirect evidentialの定義に焦点を当てる。departmental bulletin pape

大学生における沖縄の社会状況の認知に関する研究；2 －経済問題－
Get PDFThe purpose of this paper is to understand how university students perceive the current social situation of Okinawa. We administered questionnaires focusing on university students who are living in Okinawa Prefecture, Kagoshima Prefecture, and Kyoto Prefecture. We received responses from 644 students in all. The respondents were grouped into three categories: (a) Okinawans who live in Okinawa; (b) Non-Okinawans who live in Okinawa; and (c) Non-Okinawans who live outside Okinawa. After analyzing data concerning living conditions and economy, we discovered meaningful connections among the answers to eleven questions out of eighteen. That is to say, certain differences were noted among the groups. Above all, we noted significant differences in responses to questions concerning favoritism for locally produced consumer goods. Get PDFThis paper closely examines Kinjo Yasutaro's illustrations for newspaper novels. Among his many other artistic achievements, Kinjo began illustrating newspaper novels at the age of sixteen. From 1951 to 1961, Kinjo illustrated 18 novels. His work ranges from contemporary themes to historic ones. In all, Kinjo illustrated over 4000 pieces of which only 1765 are extant. The artist suggests that both the novel and the illustration itself represent "two sides of the same coin." We believe that this aphorism is central to the artist's approach to his work as an illustrator.departmental bulletin pape
