Information Literacy, Media Literacy, and the Attitudinal Positioning of WPAs Combatting Mis/disinformation
Get PDFInformational flow is paramount to the success of interpersonal communication as well as macro communication that allows for people to engage with the overarching sociopolitical apparatuses as a citizen. Chief among hindering informational flow are the obstacles of mis/disinformation. This research project is an exploratory study into the attitudinal positioning of a wide range of WPAs across R1 research institutions. Results found that WPA’s perceptions are positively aligned in agreement with the value of IL and ML. Furthermore, WPAs are utilizing IL and ML within their programs both knowingly and serendipitously. Despite the positive attitudes toward interdisciplinary approaches to combating mis/disinformation, all participants noted barriers to implementing IL and ML in a more focused manner. This paper proposes that writing program administrators may be well situated within institutional networks to aid in combating mis/disinformation. Potential avenues of action include leveraging their positions within universities to focus more on multiple literacies (Information and media literacy as well as others) across and/or within disciplines. Furthermore, WPAs may be able to act as a hub to begin conversations and actions that invite the greater community to participate in multiple-literacy based training practices.情報の流れは、対人コミュニケーションだけでなく、人々が市民として包括的な社会政治機構に関与することを可能にするマクロコミュニケーションの成功に最も重要である。情報の流れを阻害するものの筆頭に、誤報・脱字の障害がある。本研究プロジェクトは、R1研究機関のライティング・プログラム・アドミニストレーター（WPA）を対象に、その意識的位置づけを探索的に調査したものである。その結果、WPAの認識は、情報リテラシー（IL）とメディアリテラシー（ML）の価値と一致し、ポジティブに整合していることが判明した。さらに、WPAはILやMLを意図的・偶然的にプログラム内で活用していることがわかった。しかし、学際的なアプローチで誤った情報や誤解に対処しようとする姿勢には好感が持てるものの、参加者全員がILやMLをより集中的に実施するための障壁を指摘している。本論文では、ライティング・プログラムの管理者が組織のネットワークの中で、誤った／誤った情報との闘いを支援するのに適した立場にいる可能性があることを提案する。WPAは、大学内でその立場を活かし、分野横断的、あるいは分野内のマルチ・リテラシー（情報・メディア・リテラシー、その他）に焦点をあてることができるだろう。さらに、WPAは、より広いコミュニティがマルチリテラシーに基づいたトレーニングに参加できるような会話や行動を始めるためのハブとして機能することができるかもしれない。departmental bulletin pape
Documentary study of early detection and treatment related to disorder of infancy
No full text本研究では、特に特別支援教育の観点から可能な限り早期の段階で、子どもの障害、あるいは特別なニーズを発見・対応することの重要性について主に文献的な検討を通じて明らかにしようとするものである。早期発見については乳幼児検診の重要性を改めて明らかにし、１歳半、３歳児健診のみならず５歳児健診の有用性を指摘した。早期対応については、発達評価の重要性を指摘し、そのための評価ツール活用の可能性と、関係諸機関における支援システム構築の必要性について示した。また保護者の障害受容については、その「きっかけ作り」を促すという意味における保育士・保健師の役割の重要性を再確認した。最後に長く沖縄における地域性とされてきた公立幼稚園への単年在籍について、改めて「就学支援」という観点から整理し、沖縄県における支援ツール活用の可能性等も視野に入れながら今後の展望を示した。departmental bulletin pape
About the lifestyle of the university student and the situation of the health
No full text本研究は、例年とは異なる状況の中、緊急事態宣言期間中の健康状態および運動習慣や食習慣・睡眠習慣などに関連した変化について、大学生を対象とし、アンケートを行い、特に住居の形態（一人暮らしか家族同居）に注目しながら現状把握することを目的とした。その結果、新型コロナ禍は、大学生の生活に大きな変化をもたらしたにも関わらず、日常生活に満足し、現在の体調はそれほど悪いとは感じていない学生が多いことがわかった。一方、全国平均と比較すると、本調査の対象のBMI値が低く、特に一人暮らししている学生に平均より痩せている方が多く、その方が朝食欠食率の高い等の状況に関する注意喚起を促し、解決を図らなければならない。そこで、大学教育においては、心身の健康を考える教育や生活指導についての教育を行い、健康について知識、自覚を育てていくとともに支援の提供が必要であると考える。departmental bulletin pape

No full text2020年の時点において、日本には270万人を超える多くの外国人が生活しており、多くの異なった文化背景・言語背景を持つ子どもたちが保育園・幼稚園に入園している。この状況により、保育の場において、英語を使ってのコミュニケーションは日常業務の一部になっていると言える。沖縄キリスト教短期大学の保育科は、英会話学習を通して実際の保育の場で必要性が高いとされる内容を学ぶ「チャイルドケア・イングリッシュ」を開講している。しかし、外国人の子どもを受け入れるには「チャイルドケア」だけではなく、同時に「外国人保護者へのサポート」も必要なのではないか、という点に着目し、2022年度前期の講義ではこの点も授業計画に取り入れた。本稿では、なぜ「外国人保護者へのサポート」が重要なのか、そして、この点をどのように実際の授業に反映させたのかを述べる。さらに、授業を進めていくにつれ徐々に大きな問題となっていった学生の「出席状況」と「課題への取り組み姿勢」について論じる。departmental bulletin pape

ビデオで英語学習者に文法を教える： 有効性、認識、および実践に関する統合的な文献レビュー
Get PDF現在、多くの英語学習者は文脈から外れて文法を教えられています。この問題の１つの解決策は、ビデオです。多くの文献が第二言語教室でのビデオ統合をサポートしています。しかし、文法指導を強化するためのその有効性についてはほとんど知られていません。次の３つの質問を調べるために、英語と外国語の両方の学習コンテキストからの研究を使用して統合的な文献レビューが実施されました。１）ビデオは文法習得をどのようにサポートしますか。２）語学教室でビデオを使用することについての生徒と教師の認識は何ですか？３）ビデオを語学教室に統合するにはどうすればよいですか？2006年から2018年の間に公開された31の実証研究の分析により、ビデオは、学生のモチベーションを向上させ、感情フィルターを下げるために、文脈的、パラ言語的、および本物の入力を提供することにより、文法の習得を容易にすることが明らかになりました。学生がそれを受け入れているにもかかわらず、研究は現在、文法指導のためのツールとしてのビデオの有効性について制限されています。対照的に、教師はビデオを組み込むことにもっと不安を感じていました。ビデオ統合の既存のアプローチを使用して、視聴前、視聴中、および視聴後のアクティビティに編成されたレッスンで文法指導を強化することができます。この研究は、文法をビデオ資料で文脈化して習得を促進できることを明らかにし、文法を教えるためのビデオの教育学的使用に関する洞察を提供します。Currently, many English learners are taught grammar out of context. One solution to this problem is video. Much literature supports video integration in the second language classroom. However, little is known about its effectiveness for enhancing grammar instruction. An integrative literature review was conducted with studies from both English and foreign language learning contexts to examine the following three questions: 1) How does video support grammar acquisition? 2) What are students’ and teachers’ perceptions of using video in the language classroom? 3) How can video be integrated into the language classroom? The analyses of 31 empirical studies published between 2006 and 2018 revealed that video facilitates grammar acquisition by providing contextual, paralinguistic, and authentic input to improve student motivation and lower affective filters. Research is currently limited on the efficacy of video as a tool for grammar instruction, despite students being receptive to it. In contrast, teachers were more apprehensive about incorporating video. Existing approaches of video integration can be employed to enhance grammar instruction with lessons organized into pre-, while-, and post-viewing activities. This study reveals that grammar can be contextualized with video material to promote acquisition and provides insight on the pedagogical uses of video for teaching grammar.departmental bulletin pape

No full text幼児教育は、環境を通して教育・保育することが基本とされている。2018年に３法令化された幼児教育
のガイドラインにおいても、環境を通して行う教育・保育を基軸としながら「幼児期の発達の特性を踏ま
え」１）、幼児の生活や遊びを総合的に指導することが記されている。
また、幼児期の教育・保育は、生活や遊びにおいて幼児の見方・考え方を生かしながら、幼児がその環
境と関わり、主体性を発揮し、幼児一人一人が望ましい方向へ成長や発達をしていけるように「環境を通
して行う教育」２）が強調されている。
そのような視点において幼児教育における環境は、重要な役割を担っている。環境の中に教育的価値を
含ませ、幼児が自ら興味や関心をもって生活や遊びに取り組み、より豊かに成長していけるように、必要
に応じて計画的に環境を構成することを求めている。
このように、幼児教育において根幹を成す「環境を通して行う教育」３）について、理論と事例を交えて、
検討する。
本稿においては、2018（平成30）年に３法令化され刊行されている幼児教育のガイドラインから、環境
を通して行う教育に視点をおき、⑴環境を通して行う教育の意義 ⑵幼児が自ら関わる環境 ⑶安心安全
な雰囲気の中で生活と遊びが行える仲間、時間、空間の環境 ⑷人との関わりを育む環境について、検討
し考察した内容である。
また、環境を「物的環境（社会、自然環境、園の設備など）と人的環境（保育者、主として人間関係など）

Rethinking Data: Algorithms, Black Boxes, and Bias through the Data ATM
Get PDFFor nearly all of history things, creatures, and people came and went; leaving little, if anything, behind in their wake. Life in the 21st century has changed this natural pattern of existence, blurring the lines of what it is (and what it means) to dwell within the world. Physical things and people are now existing simultaneously in the digital realms as doppelgängers composed of coded data. Now, things and people are both embodied and disembodied: simultaneously. Data, individual and collective, pours into the digital oceans; a tumultuous sea of [dis]embodied-being translated into the language of electricity and silicon. The forms left in the wake of embodied dwelling have forever changed and now, data-- the Poseidon of this metaphor, reigns supreme. Each individual connected to the digital world, and countless "things" now live double lives. In an attempt to highlight the form and importance of data, both personal and collective, a prototype “Data ATM” was created. This device is meant to highlight the ways in which data is collected, black boxed, and then used in ways outside the purview of the people and things from which it was collected.
