In Javanese society, there are several traditions that initiate the marriage process. One of them is the Pathet Gunem tradition carried out by the people of Banowan Village. This research aims to find out how the Pathet Gunem tradition proceeds, what the goals of the Pathet Gunem tradition are and how the Islamic legal perspective views the Pathet Gunem tradition. The research uses a qualitative approach, the data sources used in the research are primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained from interviews with various informants, while secondary data was in the form of al-qur’an, of laws and articles. The research results show that Pathet Gunem is the final result of deciding on a word, usually done a month or several months before the wedding. Pathet Gunem is a deliberation between the parents of the man and woman to discuss wedding preparations, with the aim of getting clarity on the day, date, time, place and other things related to the wedding day event. The aim and benefits for both families are to avoid misunderstandings between the two parties and for the two families to get to know each other. From an Islamic legal perspective, the Pathet Gunem tradition does not require a marriage to be valid. Pathet Gunem is a Javanese wedding tradition, not the main requirement for marriage

    No full text
Low-carbon education, focused on CO2 emission reduction, is crucial for preservice teachers to prepare future generations to address climate change. Yet, there is a significant gap in research on low-carbon literacy within this group, underscoring the need for further studies. This study investigates the score of low-carbon literacy among prospective teacher students, addressing the critical role of CO2 emission reduction education in preparing future generations to tackle climate change. Despite the importance of low-carbon education, research on low-carbon literacy in student teachers remains limited. This study employed a survey utilizing a Likert-scale low-carbon literacy instrument. The survey was administered to 113 sixth-semester chemistry education students at Walisongo State Islamic University who had completed the Environmental Chemistry course. Results revealed that literacy of students across the cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains scored 3.367/4, 3.317/4, and 3.288/4, respectively. However, the responses in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains exhibited inconsistencies, suggesting the presence of misconceptions. Robust positive correlations were observed among the three domains; however, the cognitive and psychomotor domains exhibited relatively low correlations. The study highlighted misconceptions about CO2 emissions related to power generation, low confidence in implementing low-carbon activities, and a tendency to choose easier emission reduction actions. To enhance low-carbon literacy, future research should prioritize addressing and correcting misconceptions related to low-carbon concepts. Moreover, strengthening the quantitative literacy of pre-service teachers is essential, enabling them to better understand and assess carbon emissions from daily activities

Students’ enthusiasm for learning Arabic requires special attention, as many perceive the language as difficult and less relevant to daily life. A lack of engaging teaching skills further reduces motivation, while modern students are also strongly influenced by advanced technology. If teachers fail to innovate and continue relying on outdated methods, learning objectives become harder to achieve and students easily lose interest. This study aims to explore teachers’ creativity in teaching Arabic reading skills, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. Using a qualitative field study approach, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documents. Findings reveal that creative teachers employ diverse strategies, media, approaches, competencies, techniques, and tactics that make learning more enjoyable and accessible for students. Supporting factors include leadership support and adequate facilities, while limited resources act as barriers. Overall, applying teacher creativity in Arabic reading instruction proves effective and ideal

    No full text
This paper explores how student agency relationships take an important role in creating good and effective classroom management, especially when applied in building class agreements through collaborative processes by class members in Early Childhood Education. The background question of this paper is "How can classroom agreements created with student agency contribute to effective classroom management in early childhood education?". Students use their voice and choice in sharing thoughts, making decisions, and allowing them to co-create the rules and expectations that govern their learning environment. Student agency fosters ownership, responsibility and accountability among students through class agreements that adhere to class norms. When students feel like their voices, thoughts, and contributions are valued, they are more likely to internalize classroom agreements and actively participate in maintaining a positive learning environment. This study explores the relationship between student agency and classroom management through classroom agreements using qualitative approach by interview and observation to get pertinent information. It examines how empowering students to take part in setting rules impacts discipline, behavior, emotions, social interactions, and overall classroom dynamics. The results showed that classrooms with student-driven agreements demonstrated higher levels of engagement, reduced behavioral disruptions, more disciplined behavior, and created an active and positive learning environment. The value of student agency is visible in classroom management practices
