    No full text
This study aims to examine the strategies of spiritual counselors in strengthening patients’ psychospiritual well-being through Islamic spiritual guidance at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital within the framework of the Holistic Health Care (HHC) approach. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, using data collection techniques includingnon-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the HHC assessment became the basis for determining patients psychospiritual status (Sorrow, Guide, Revive, Nirvana) and the type of intervention provided. In Sorrow category patients, intervention strategies include dhikr relaxation, motivational strengthening, self-awareness development, worship guidance, prayer motivation, and religious deepening. These interventions were shown to help patients reduce anxiety, increase acceptance of illness, and strengthen spiritual connection with God. This study confirms that structured and empathic spiritual guidance can strengthen the psychospiritual aspects of patients and support holistic healing

The Singlehood Lifestyle (‘Uzubah): A Socio-Legal Analysis within the Framework of Fiqh al-Munakahat

    No full text
This study examines the phenomenon of the singlehood lifestyle (‘uzubah) in Arsopura Village, Skanto District, Keerom Regency, and evaluates it through the lens of Fiqh al-Munakahat (Islamic jurisprudence on marriage). Although marriage is strongly encouraged in Islamic law as a means of preserving lineage, maintaining social stability, and fulfilling the Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah (objectives of Islamic law), a number of residents in Arsopura both men and women choose to remain unmarried into advanced adulthood. Using a qualitative field research design with phenomenological and sociological approaches, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The analysis reveals that the choice to remain single is predominantly influenced by psychosocial factors such as the comfort of living independently, fear of marital responsibility, distrust arising from negative relational experiences, and economic considerations, reinforced by limited social interaction and weak family influence. These factors although valid from a sociological standpoint do not constitute legitimate ‘udhr shar‘ī (acceptable reason) within the framework of Islamic jurisprudence. From the perspective of Fiqh al-Munakahat and Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, the practice of permanent singlehood in Arsopura contradicts the normative purpose of marriage, especially ḥifẓ al-nasl (the preservation of lineage) and the maintenance of religious and social order. The study concludes that while singlehood may be understood as a personal preference shaped by contemporary social pressures, it does not align with Islamic legal principles. This research underscores the need for community-based religious education, marriage counseling, and socio-religious engagement to harmonize personal autonomy with Islamic marital norms

    No full text
This study examines the Kaboro Co’i tradition practiced in the pre-marital ceremonies of the Bima (Dou Mbojo) community by analyzing its normative foundation and socio-cultural functions within the framework of maslahah (benefit) and Maqasid al-Shari‘ah (objectives of Islamic law) in Islamic Family Law. Employing a qualitative normative–empirical method, the research integrates textual analysis of Islamic legal sources with three months of fieldwork (June–August 2024) in Ntobo Village involving observations and semi-structured interviews with adat (customary) leaders, religious figures, community elders, and youth participants. The findings show that Kaboro Co’i, which encompasses ritual stages such as Panati, Nuntu Co’i, Mbolo Keluarga, Kalondo Fare, Wa’a Co’i, Zikir Labo Peta Kapanca, Lafa, and Walimah, embodies strong social values, including mutual assistance, deliberation, kinship maintenance, and togetherness. Traditional and community leaders view the tradition as culturally obligatory and religiously compatible, aligning with Maqasid al-Shari‘ah, particularly hifz al-din (protection of religion) and hifz al-nasl (protection of lineage). Normatively, it qualifies as ‘urf ṣaḥīḥ (valid custom) and substantively represents maslahah ḥājiyyah (complementary benefit) that supports family welfare, social harmony, and economic solidarity. Thus, Kaboro Co’i constitutes a form of living Islamic family law that harmonizes local wisdom with Islamic principles and remains socially relevant if it continues to promote communal welfare without creating socioeconomic burdens

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of group guidance services using the symbolic modeling technique to improve the career planning of female students at the Al-Ikhlas Yatim Dhu'afa Islamic Boarding School in Singosari. The study addresses issues faced by students who experience confusion in determining their career plans after leaving the boarding school. This research employs a pre-experimental method using a Quasi-Experimental Design with the Equivalent Time Series Design method, involving a sample of 11 students. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Before being distributed, the questionnaires were tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used is the Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test. The results of this study show that the symbolic modeling technique can be a practical and effective solution to help Islamic boarding school students improve their career planning skills. This is evidenced by a significant increase in students' scores at each post-test stage compared to the pre-test results. The average student score increased from 41.73 (low category) in the pre-test to 113.27 (high category) in the fourth post-test. This average increase of 171% demonstrates the success of the intervention in building career planning skills, particularly for students initially in the low category. This approach can be applied more broadly to other aspects of personal development, such as emotional management, interpersonal communication, and decision-making

    No full text
Islamic Financial Technology (I-FinTech) is rapidly evolving and expanding due to the swift advancements in computer software and machinery. I-FinTech progressively asserts its role in various applications, including computer algorithms, artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, robo-advisory, and social networks, to facilitate the development and advancement of digital Islamic finance. The adoption of I-FinTech has begun to enhance the benefits of Islamic social finance, particularly in the context of zakat. Zakat institutions have utilized technological advancements, including mobile devices and security technologies, to digitize their collection and distribution processes. Evidence suggests that zakat institutions can reduce operational costs, improve security, expedite payments, and facilitate better transactions by adopting finance technology. Despite significant advancements, the adoption of I-FinTech by zakat institutions encounter various challenges, including sharia compliance, financial inclusion, digital awareness, conservative culture, trust deficits, security concerns, infrastructure limitations, regulatory issues, and impact investment considerations. Limited research has explored the challenges faced by Islamic social finance in the adoption of FinTech. However, this study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews with zakat managers, IT experts, and policymakers to assess the challenges and potential for I-FinTech adoption within zakat institutions. This research identifies significant challenges faced by zakat institutions, including insufficient technical knowledge and capabilities, traditional and conservative cultural influences, lack of awareness, and a deficit of talent and expertise in the full adoption of FinTech solutions. The study presents recommendations to address these challenges, including awareness campaigns, capacity building, the adoption of modern technological solutions like blockchain and crowdfunding digital platforms, and the improvement of transparency and governance standards. The study concludes by offering recommendations for future research endeavors

Early 20th Century Children's Interpretation: Strategies for Interpreting the Qur'an in Tamshiyyah al-Muslimin

    No full text
This research focuses on examining the strategy of interpreting the Qur'an for children in the early 20th century in the tafsir Tamshiyyah al-Muslimīn.  The study of children's interpretation in the early 20th century is often missed. This is because the children's tafsir by KH Ahmad Sanusi (1888-1950) is presented in the interpretation of adult readers in the tafsir Tamshiyyah al-Muslimīn. The scarcity of children's tafsir studies in the early 20th century is because the production of tafsir at that time was still considered taboo and rarely studied in various pesantren. Although taught in some pesantren, tafsir material experienced exclusivity of readers. Bruinessen's research shows that tafsir can only be studied at the tsanawi to ulya level. This shows that the understanding of the Qur'an for children to beginner level is very limited. Whereas understanding religion through the teaching of the Qur'an for children is quite important to instill Islamic education since childhood. Another factor that causes children's interpretations to be quite rare is the limitations of printing technology and graphic design in children's interpretations in the early 20th century. At that time, most attractive graphic designs were only used for advertisements, packaging, and so on so that books or interpretive writings did not use such things. These limitations make early 20th century children's interpretations a unique and rare study. Therefore, this study aims to explore the strategies used by Sanusi in presenting the learning and meaning of the Qur'an for children at that time amid the lack of tafsir production, the exclusivity of children's tafsir readers, and the limitations of printing technology and graphic design for children's tafsir readers. The findings of this study conclude that the strategy used by Sanusi in interpreting the Qur'an for children is by using verbal illustrations, transliteration of the Qur'an, local language adaptation and verse grouping. Comparative approach and content analysis are used to explore the findings.

Harmonization of Human Rights Principles and Maqasid Syari'ah in The Issue of Interreligious Marriages

    No full text
This research examines the issue of interreligious marriage in Indonesia through the perspective of Human Rights (HAM) principles and Maqasid al-Shari‘ah (objectives of Islamic law). Although the practice of interreligious marriage continues to increase, its legal certainty remains unclear, leading to theological, social, and administrative problems. Human Rights guarantee freedom of religion and the right to marry, but their implementation in Indonesia must be aligned with the Marriage Law, religious norms, and the values of Pancasila (ideology). This research employs a literature review with content analysis and positions Maqasid al-Shari‘ah as an analytical framework to assess the maṣlaḥah (benefit) and mafsadah (disadvantage) of interreligious marriage based on the al-ḍarūriyyāt al-khams (five essential objectives of Islamic law). The findings show that restrictions on interreligious marriage are not a form of human rights violation but rather a mechanism to protect religious identity, family stability, the legal status of children, and the social order. The study concludes that Human Rights and Maqasid al-Shari‘ah share an orientational meeting point: the protection of human dignity and the promotion of public welfare. Therefore, harmonization can be achieved through a proportional legal approach, protection of vulnerable parties, and a legal interpretation responsive to Indonesia’s socio-religious context
