ECONOMIC EFFECTIVENESS AND RELIABILITY EVALUATION OF ERGATIC BASE COMPLEX
No full textV súčasnosti okrem technickej spoľahlivosti je veľmi dôležitou aj ekonomická stabilita a efektívnosť leteckých podnikov, resp. ich súčastí. Je v záujme každého prevádzkovateľa, aby jeho technické komplexy ako napr. ergatický bázový komplex boli nie len spoľahlivé, ale aj ekonomicky efektívne, čo nám pomáha si utvoriť celkovú predstavu nie len o kvalite jednotlivých prvkov, ale systému tj. podniku ako celku. Na stanovenie kvality práce so zložitými systémami možno použiť rôzne metódy. Navrhnutá metóda pri vyhodnotení využíva ukazovateľ efektívnosti skúšok spoľahlivosti, ktoré sú súčasťou zavádzania nových zložitých systémov do ergatického bázového komplexu, kedy výstupy skúšok vytvárajú vyčíslenú charakteristiku podľa ktorej je možné odhadnúť úroveň zhody medzi vynaloženými nákladmi a ich samotnou prevádzkou. Pri spracovávaní danej problematiky prostredníctvom MATLAB bolo nevyhnutné pracovať s optimalizáciou finančných nákladov na udržanie spoľahlivosti vyššie uvedených komplexov ako aj nepredvídaných nákladov prevádzkovateľa napr. letiskového bázového systému.Recently, an economic stability and effectiveness of airlines and their branches are important, besides the technical reliability. Within the interest of each provider is to have not only a reliable and economically effective ergatic base complex, as a technical complex, but also the quality of particular elements of the system, and the company itself. Various methods are used to determine the quality of work with complex systems. The proposed method uses the effectiveness index of reliability tests which are a part of the implementation of new complex systems into the ergatic base complex, where the tests´ outputs create a quantified characteristics according to which it is possible to estimate the level of conformity between the costs and real operation. When solving this problem through MATLAB it was necessary to take into account the optimization of financial expenses to maintain the reliability of the above mentioned complexes as well as the unexpected expenses of the provider (for example a provider of airport base system)

The paper is focused on both intraregional transport needs as well as connection of the region with an outside area – especially with the city of Prešov. Statistical data on dangerous goods transportation in the Czech Republic are used in order to compute transportation patterns and identify time distribution of accidents. Numerical approach to determine a risk of time in hazmat transportation is presented. Measures reducing risk of hazardous material transportation are proposed in this paper

Turning History into a Fairy Tale: The Borders of Reality and Fiction in Catherynne Valente’s Deathless
No full textThis article explores the parallels between the classic Russian fairy tale Marya Morevna and its reimagining in Catherynne Valente’s Deathless. The authors claim that the novel follows the pattern of the postmodern reinterpretation of fairy tales and provide a thorough analysis of the characters, setting, style and other phenomena supporting this claim. The novel simultaneously addresses the themes of political and social criticism of early Soviet Russia, resulting in the ironic tone and satirical comments provided by the author. The literary analysis strives to answer the question ‘how is this fairy tale combined with history?’ The novel transcends the genre of a fairy tale retelling and functions as a novel filled with historical references and subjective commentary on the political and the social situation
Jim Grimsley’s Dream Boy as an Insight into Male Teenage Same-Sex Desire in the American South
No full textThe article discusses two opposing interpretations of Jim Grimsley’s novel Dream Boy (1995), a “southern” one and a “gay” one. Because of the ambiguities of the novel, the story of two teenagers, Nathan and Roy, can be considered primarily in its southern setting and understood as an insight into same-sex desire in the South, which often exists outside the categories of gay identity. At the same time, it can be seen as just another coming-out story, this time one set in a rural area and ending prematurely with the violent death of the main protagonist. While the author of the article would subscribe to a “gay” interpretation, he admits that the “southern” interpretation, suggested by Grimsley, may provide a valuable insight into same-sex desire in the American South
The city, war and Jesuits: Jesuit’s mission in Košice during the anti-Habsburg uprising
No full textThe study sets as its objective to characterize three lines of force majeure – Habsburgs, Church and rebels, which met in Košice during the anti-Habsburg uprisings, and to present a cultural, religious and power struggle of Košice during that time (1604–1711). The contacts between Jesuits and the city of Košice started in 1563 with the visit of Jesuits from Trnava and in 1582 of Antonio Possevino and continued by the mission of Peter Pázmány (1601) and two murdered Jesuits (1619) to the foundation of the College and University in the middle of 17th century. Acting on behalf of the Bohemian King: Ferdinand Ernst von Waldstein’s Journey to Westphalia (1645–1647)
No full textFerdinand Ernst von Waldstein participated within the imperial delegation at the peace negotiations in Münster and Osnabrück where together with Georg von Plettenberg he represented the interests of Ferdinand III as the King of Bohemia at the Electoral College. Although he only took part in discussions that concerned one specific disputed issue, namely the return of the electoral vote to the Count Palatine of the Rhine, his presence at the meeting represents important evidence about the relations between the Czech Lands and the Holy Roman Empire during the period prior to the readmission of the Bohemian Elector and his representatives to the Electoral College, which occurred as late as in 1708.
