Functional outcome after surgical treatment of spinal meningioma
Objective: This study aims to identify the key factors influencing functional outcomes in patients with surgically treated space-occupying spinal meningiomas (SM), specifically focusing on the role of intraoperative neuromonitoring in determining these outcomes. Methodology: This retrospective analysis included a substantial number of patients. We conducted a comprehensive examination of pre- and postoperative records, surgical reports, and radiographic data to assess population trends, symptom duration, histology, co-morbidities, surgical approach, and neurological function. Results: Among the total of 55 patients, 48 (86.7%) were women and 7 (13.3%) were men. Laminectomy and hemi-laminectomy were the most commonly performed surgical techniques. The thoracic spine was the primary location for spinal meningiomas. The most prevalent symptoms included sensory abnormalities, gait issues, motor deficits, and radiating pain. In most of the cases total resection was performed. After treatment, most patients experienced complete healing and good functional recovery
Placenta praevia frequency in women with previous caesarean section
Background: The placenta may be situated fully or partially to the lower uterine section, which is known as placenta praevia. Although it may be seen in the first trimester as well, it often occurs in the second or third trimester. Placenta praevia is the main cause for antepartum hemorrhage or vaginal bleeding. Objective: To assess the placenta praevia frequency in women with previous caesarean section. Methodology: The current study was cross sectional study, carried out at the Obstetrics and Gynecology department, Category D hospital Ghara Tajik for duration of six months from July 2022 to December 2022. All the data was collected in a pre-designed proforma. All the data was analyzed by using SPSS version 24.00. Results: In the current study, totally 120 participant were enrolled. Based on age distribution, 96 (80%) participants age was ranged from 20-32 years whereas 24 (20%) patients were ranged in age from 33-45 years. The overall frequency of Placenta previa diagnosed by ultrasound was 24 (20%) in women with previous caesarean section. By stratifying the placenta previa with parity, a significant association was observed (p=0.001).

The most common affected age group was 14 and younger (44.7%) followed by adults (26 to 65) which was 42.7%. Conclusion: We conclude from this study that, AMSAN is most common variant of GBS. Most commonly affected age group is 14 and younger. The prevalence of GBS is more in male
Chitosan improves the efficacy of gentamicin against MDR and biofilm-forming URO pathogenic E. coli
Uropathogenic E. coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections (UTIs), accounting for 80-90% of community-acquired UTIs and 30-50% of hospital-acquired UTIs. Uropathogenic E. coli that form biofilms are linked to chronic and persistent inflammation, resulting in severe and recurring UTIs. Biofilms promote antibiotic resistance and the horizontal transfer of virulence genes, promoting the formation of multidrug-resistant organisms. This study aimed to combine low-molecular-weight chitosan with aminoglycoside gentamicin to improve its efficacy against biofilm formation and MDR E. coli. Different strains of bacteria were isolated from urine samples of different patients at the Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, out of which 16 were identified as E. coli by API (Analytical Profile Index) 20E. The antibiotic sensitivity profile was determined using the disk diffusion method, and the results showed that a total of 10 isolates were found to be multidrug-resistant MDR (N=62.5%). Biofilm formation was tested using the TCP method, a total of 7 isolates were found to be strong biofilm producers (N=44%). Gentamicin exhibited the highest inhibitory activity against 10 isolates of E.coli, with MIC-p ranges of 4 and 2 µg/ml, respectively, while 6 isolates showed resistance to gentamicin with MIC-p ranges >512 µg/ml
Frequency of alterations in qSOFA, SIRS, MEWS and NEWS scores during the emergency department stay in infectious patients
Background: Sepsis has received ongoing attention over the past 10 years as common illness that accounts for Ten percent of ICU admissions & is linked to ten–twenty percent in-hospital mortality rate. For those investigated patients with suspected infections, clinical rules based on vital signs are typically calculated as soon as researched person enters emergency department. Clinical rule scores that are normal or abnormal provide information on the diagnosis & outlook. Due to the cyclical nature of vital signs, clinical rule scores may fluctuate. Aim: In this research, we looked at how frequently results of four commonly applied clinical rules changed during which cases with assumed infections were being treated in emergency department. Summary: Future studies, in our opinion, must concentrate on viability, use, & predictive value of repeated or continuous vital sign monitoring across acute care chain. respiratory rates have to get special attention as it has been consistently demonstrated to be significant predictor of clinical worsening, despite being evaluated infrequently & insufficiently
The relationship between physical activity and who assist scores in substance addiction clients at the addiction Polyclinic of Prof Ngoerah General Hospital Denpasar
Drug abuse which includes narcotic, psychotropic, and addictive substances can affect the central nervous system function. Substances are often abused because of the pleasurable and calming effects of their use. Physical activity is said to have the potential as an adjunct therapy for substance addiction disorders. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and WHO ASSIST scores in substance addiction clients. This study used a cross-sectional design on substance addiction clients undergoing treatment at the Addiction Polyclinic of Prof Ngoerah General Hospital Denpasar. Physical activity score checks were conducted using GPAQ questionnaires and WHO ASSIST scores. Data collection to patients as research subjects was carried out after obtaining informed consent. After data collected, the next stages was data analysis using SPSS, with descriptive statistical analysis, normality test and spearman correlation test. From 30 samples, an average GPAQ score of 2099.33 ± 2225.32 was obtained. The average WHO ASSIST score for each substance was highest in tobacco 15.57 ± 8.98 and lowest in hallucinogen 0.70 ± 1.664.

The results show that the group that received the extract was superior compared to the chlorohexidine group, and the patients recovered at a greater rate, with reduction in signs as redness, swelling and pain, also any clinical signs or side effects
Spectrum of scrotal diseases & its management in rural medical college
Scrotal complaints are common surgical problems encountered in men for whom patients report in the surgical outpatient department as well as in the emergency department. Due to the long-time gap, they are diagnosed at an advanced stage with high morbidity and mortality. So a present study was conducted to know the correct incidence of pathologies affecting the scrotum in this western part of India; their mode of presentation; diagnosis; management done for these conditions. All patients aged 18 years or older, who were diagnosed with acute scrotum in Dhiraj Hospital, from March 2021 to September 2022, were assessed.50 patients were assessed. Out of total, 30% patients were diagnosed with Testicular torsion followed by 24% who had Acute Epididymo- orchitis. Only 4% were affected by acute scrotum due to trauma.Conservative management with antibiotics, analgesics, scrotal support and rest is most effective in case of epididymo-orchitis. Emergency exploration of the scrotum proved to be the best care in case of pyocele, Haematocele, torsion testis, testicular abscess and Fournier’s gangrene. It doesn’t involve major expenses with negligible surgical mortality, also shown to be the best as confirmed diagnosis can be reached with almost all cases with exploration
