    Assessment of variations in intrahepatic bile duct by magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography

    For any biliary system or liver surgery, it is crucial to have a thorough understanding of the normal branching pattern of the intrahepatic bile duct and its deviations in order to prevent serious post-surgical problems and morbidity. Aim: This study's goal was to assess the variations in intrahepatic bile ducts appeared during Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) examinations. Place and Duration: In the Radiology department of Mian Gul Abdul Haq Jehanzeb Kidney Hospital Swat from January 2022 to June 2022. Methods: This cross-sectional, quantitative study was conducted among people who had been referred for MRCP examinations for a number of clinical reasons. A total of 70 patients done with MRCP examinations were selected by convenience sampling technique being used. The data of 1.5T Magnetom Amira Siemens MRI scanner was used for anlaysis. Using visual analysis, the 3D MRCP images were categorized into 7 Types using the Choi et al classification. Results: Among the 36(51.4%) patients in this analysis had Type 1/normal IHBD, 13(18.6%) had Type 2 IHBD, Type 3A was seen in 2(2.8%), and Type 3B was noticed in 5.7% of subjects.&nbsp

    Comparative analysis of spinal stabilization techniques: A systematic review

    Background: The purpose of this study was to compare different spinal stabilization techniques in terms of their effectiveness in providing stabilization and reducing pain. A systematic review was performed to identify relevant studies and analyze their findings. The studies were evaluated based on their methodological quality, sample size, and outcome measures. The results showed that the use of spinal bracing, spinal manipulation, and exercise-based treatments was found to be more effective than pharmacological interventions in providing spinal stabilization and reducing pain. The evidence suggests that a combination of these treatments may be more beneficial in providing adequate stabilization and reducing pain compared to a single intervention. Future research is needed to further explore the efficacy of different spinal stabilization techniques.     Spinal cord injury and COVID-19: Information, prevention and challenges

    Objective: To analyze access to information, adopted prevention measures, opinions on isolation, and the feelings and difficulties of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) during the COVID-19. Study design and methods: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study. Sample of 211 participants, between 18 and 67 years, of which 140 were male. Results: Among the participants, 87.7% stated they had received information about the pandemic; 90.1% were in favor of social isolation; and 59.0% referred to having both positive and negative feelings. Conclusion: Individuals with SCI in Brazil have faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic

    Effectiveness of continuous passive motion protocol as an adjunct to standard physiotherapy protocol for post-operative rehabilitation in Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) cases

    Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a relatively prevalent disorder, and prevalence rises with age. Total knee replacement surgery (TKA) is a frequent operation that has significantly improved the quality of life for millions of people with symptomatic knee OA. TKA postoperative care has been discussed regarding the utility of CPM; it has been shown to speed up the recovery of full range of motion, shorten hospital stays, lessen discomfort, speed up wound healing, and lower the risk of DVT. The current study was conducted to compare Effectiveness of CPM protocol as an adjunct to Standard Physiotherapy protocol in Post-operative Rehabilitation of TKA cases. From July to December 2021, three affiliated hospitals hosted the randomised controlled study, which included patients who had complete knee arthroplasty surgery. After surgery, patients were randomly allocated to one of two groups: From the first surgical day till discharge, Group A got twice daily PT and continuous passive motion (CPM), while Group B only received the usual physiotherapy programme from the first postoperative day. Evaluation of the results took place the day after discharge. The participants in the 2 groups' baseline outcome measurement characteristics were comparable.&nbsp

    Clinicomycological assessment of fungal sinusitis in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis in a tertiary care hospital: An observational study

    Background: Rhinosinusitis (RS) poses a major health problem, substantially affecting quality of life, productivity, and finances. Materials & methods: The study was conducted in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Adesh Institute of Medical Science and Research, Bathinda on admitted patients of chronic rhinosinusitis suspected with fungal sinusitis. The specimen obtained during surgery was sent for fungal culture. All the results were analyzed by Microsoft excel software. Results: Fungal sinusitis was present in 50 percent of the patients. Mean age of the patients belonged to the age group of 39.76 years. 58 percent of the patients were males while the remaining 42 percent of the patients were females. Nasal obstruction, nasal discharge and headache were present in 44 percent, 40 percent and 38 percent of the patients. Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus fumigates was present in 32 percent and 24 percent of the patients. Mucormycosis was present in 12 percent of the patients while Candida albicans was present in 14 percent of the patients respectively.&nbsp

    The relationship of resilience and social support with post-traumatic growth: The mediating role of emotion regulation strategies

    The current research design was descriptive-correlation research. The statistical population of the research includes all the children of the witness families living in the border provinces of Iraq, which was selected based on Morgan's table, a sample of 250 people was available. The data were collected using the social support scale, flexibility of emotion regulation strategies and post-traumatic growth scale and were tested and analyzed using the Pearson correlation method and structural equation model in SPSS24 and AMOS24 software. The results showed, there was a direct and significant relationship between social support and resilience with post-traumatic growth. Also, emotion regulation strategies indirectly mediated the effects of resilience and social support on post-traumatic growth. It is suggested to pay attention to resilience training, emotion regulation and support for people who have experienced trauma

    Due to the Egyptian shortage of energy sources, especially for energy-intensive industries, the Egyptian President decree No 105-2015, and the Egyptian Prime Minister’s Decisions No. 964 - 2015, No 544-2017, and No 618-2017 setting standards for the exportation, using, handling, and storage of coal as an alternative fuel in mega industries within the Arab Republic of Egypt. Fossil fuels, with their different types, are materials that produce different amounts of air pollutants, especially coal, which, when burned, produces quantities of sulfur oxides, carbon oxides, and some heavy metals that have environmental and health effects in the short and long term alike. The objective of the present study is to identify the distance from each stack of approximately zero mercury concentration as compared to the distance of the external plant fences to ensure that the community air is free from mercury of the cement production source by using an air pollutants dispersion model. This study was a descriptive cross-sectional survey that was conducted in Cement Production plant in the Helwan area that use coal as an energy source.     Automated diagnosis and treatment planning in dentistry

    This study aims to investigate the perceptions and experiences regarding automated diagnosis and treatment planning in dentistry. The field of automated diagnosis and treatment planning is rapidly evolving, leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to enhance patient care and outcomes. However, there is a need to understand the perspectives of dental professionals regarding the adoption and implementation of these automated systems. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 100 dentists from various dental practices to gather data on their familiarity, usage, and perceptions of automated diagnosis and treatment planning. The survey also explored the perceived benefits, challenges, and future implications of automated systems in dental care. Preliminary findings indicate that the majority of dentists in the sample (80%) have some level of familiarity with automated diagnosis and treatment planning. However, only 45% reported actively using such systems in their practice. Among the dentists using automated systems, the most commonly cited benefits include time-saving (60%), enhanced accuracy (55%), and improved treatment planning (50%). Challenges associated with the adoption of automated systems were also identified.&nbsp

    This study investigates the use of AI-enabled virtual reality (VR) systems in dental education. With a sample size of 200 participants, the research aims to explore the effectiveness and potential benefits of integrating AI and VR technologies into dental education programs. The study focuses on the use of AI algorithms to enhance the learning experience, simulate realistic dental procedures, and provide interactive training modules for dental students. The research employs a quantitative research technique. The quantitative research involves the distribution of surveys to the sample group, assessing their perceptions of AI-enabled VR systems in dental education and their effectiveness in improving learning outcomes. Preliminary findings suggest that AI-enabled VR systems have the potential to revolutionize dental education by offering immersive and realistic learning environments. Participants reported positive experiences with the interactive and engaging nature of AI-powered VR simulations, which allowed them to practice dental procedures in a safe and controlled setting. The incorporation of AI algorithms enhanced the realism of the simulations, providing immediate feedback, personalized learning pathways, and virtual patient scenarios. The study also examines the potential benefits of AI-enabled VR systems in addressing challenges faced by traditional dental education methods.&nbsp

    Exploring the role of pharmacology in surgical anatomy and patient outcomes

    Introduction: This study looked at how pharmacology affected surgical anatomy and patient outcomes. Methods: The research included a total of 162 participants who were having elective surgery. Propofol or sevoflurane was randomly allocated to patients for the initiation and maintenance of anesthesia. Acetaminophen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), and opioids were used in combination to alleviate pain. Results: When compared to patients receiving sevoflurane, those receiving propofol had substantially reduced rates of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) (p 0.05). Additionally, the propofol group saw quicker healing and shorter hospital stays (p 0.05). Multimodal analgesia was linked to better pain management and reduced opioid use. Conclusion: The use of propofol for anesthesia induction and maintenance, as well as multimodal analgesia, may provide superior outcomes for patients undergoing surgery. These findings highlight the importance of pharmacology in surgical anatomy and patient outcomes and emphasize the need for further research to optimize the use of these interventions in the perioperative period
