Patient outcomes through interprofessional partnerships: A focus on pharmacist-nurse collaboration

    Get PDF
This in-depth conversation explores the dynamics of collaboration between pharmacists and nurses, with a special emphasis on pharmaceutical care (PhC). The investigation commences by clarifying the notion of PhC, emphasizing its professional, patient-focused, and inter-professional aspects. The story takes place in the framework of the Polish healthcare system and highlights the critical role that pharmacists play—a position that was further highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. But obstacles that have been found—from doubt to organizational difficulties—showroom deficiencies in the cooperative decision-making process between pharmacists and nurses, calling for a paradigm change. Extending the reach internationally, the discussion is consistent with the World Health Organization's recognition of nursing's comprehensive care, both independent and cooperative. Research demonstrates how collaborative efforts, such interprofessional medication reviews, can improve patient outcomes, lower errors, and raise the standard of care overall. Aspects of education highlight the deficiencies in nursing programs and stress the significance of identifying and maximizing nurses' contributions to pharmaceutical care in order to enhance patient safety and healthcare quality. The discussion ends by emphasizing how important it is to break down barriers via innovative professional viewpoints, educational changes, and legislative modifications

Background: There has been an increasing acknowledgement of the need for interprofessional cooperation in healthcare in recent years. Aim of the Study: This review thoroughly analyzes the significance of pharmacist-nurse interactions in facilitating clinical workflow, specifically exploring the advantages, difficulties, and methods for improving collaborative practice. Materials and Methods: The literature reviewed in the analysis included a wide variety of research methods, offering valuable information on the potential benefits and challenges of cooperation between pharmacists and nurses.  Results: The examination of the literature demonstrated that cooperative partnerships between pharmacists and nurses may enhance the management of medications and the delivery of patient care, resulting in improved patient outcomes. The research identified key themes that highlighted the advantages of multidisciplinary teamwork, such as greater drug safety, improved patient education, and more effective care delivery. Nevertheless, the analysis also identified many obstacles, such as language difficulties, unclear job responsibilities, and limitations within the organization, which might impede the successful cooperation between pharmacists and nurses. The results underscore the need for improved cooperation and correspondence among these medical practitioners in order to surmount the highlighted obstacles and optimize the advantages of their alliance

Objective: To quantify the frequency of phantom limb pain, limb sensation and stump pain among amputees aging 20–75 years. Methods: An observational cross-sectional study was done. A population of 75 amputees were selected using non-probability convenient sampling and after setting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Standard questionnaires; Groningen Questionnaire Problems after Arm Amputation (GQPAA) and Groningen Questionnaire Problems after Leg Amputation (GQPLA), were filled by interviewing the patients. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of PCOS, a clinically noticeable disorder in women that causes excessive development of coarse or dark hair on the face, chest, and back in a male-like pattern, between first-degree female relatives in families with a proband who has the condition. Methods: A history of oligomenorrhea, hirsutism or biochemical proof of hyperandrogenism (raised entire or free T) and other illnesses were used to diagnose PCOS. Moreover, for better results, Study participants through PCOS (age 24.3G5.8 years, Body Mass Index 26.8G6.9 kg/m2) were used for better results. An R8-modified Ferriman-Gallwey score was used to characterize hirsutism. Results: 24% of the mothers and 32% of the sisters among the moms and sisters assessed had PCOS, respectively. Only premenopausal women who were not receiving treatment i.e., moms (35%) and sisters (40%) for PCOS were found to have the condition, which is consistent with symptoms becoming better due to hormone therapy or age. These PCOS prevalence percentages are much greater than the illness's frequency in the normal community (about 4%), which points to a considerable hereditary component. Furthermore, in comparison to female without hirsutism, hirsute female were pretty young, had greater BMIs, and also had greater amounts of circulatory androgens

Development and evaluation of fruit leather from guava and jujube blend

    Get PDF
Fruits and vegetables have become as essential basis of human nutrition because they are nutrient rich foods. They contain many nutrients as well as many non-nutrient food ingredients that have role in preventing diseases. Guava (Psidium guajava) is a nutrient rich fruit having high amount of phytonutrients such as carotenoids and lycopene. Due to presence of antioxidants in lycopene it helps in the prevention of prostate cancer. Guava is highly fibre rich fruit and therefore helps diabetic’s patient to control their blood sugar level. Jujube (Ziziphus lotus) is multifunctional, nutritionally important and commercially viable fruit. Fresh fruit decay is a critical challenge in food industry. Jujube has great potential to deteriorate due to its higher water content which resulting in massive production loss of fruit after cultivation. Various techniques have been designed based on the characteristics of fruit in order to construct and utilize an appropriate treatment to make fruits easily assessable most of the year. Food drying is frequently used approach for extending the shelf life of fruits after cultivation through converting them into the multiple products such as edible fruit leather in order to minimize costs and enhance consumer profit.&nbsp
