    Get PDF
One of the biggest sources of dread for patients and a top concern for dentists is the anticipation and reality of root canal-related pain.1 Pain is defined as "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential damage or described in terms of such damage" by the International Associates for the Study of Pain.2 The imbalance in the host-bacteria connection brought on by intra canal operations is the main cause of inter appointment pain. Objectives: The goal of current study was to associate the outcomes of these intracanal medications on pain experienced between endodontic appointments. This would make it easier for us to find better medications to treat discomfort between appointments. Methodology: For a period of six months, from January 6, 2022, to January 1, 2023, this randomized controlled study was carried out in the Dept. of Operative Dentistry at the MIHS in Islamabad, Pakistan. With a 5% level of significance, an 85% power of the trial, and a fraction of effectiveness of 72% with triple antibiotic paste and 38% with calcium hydroxide, a sample size of 80 people, 40 in each group, was estimated.

Management of patients with scoliosis in a dental practice: A review of literature

    Get PDF
Management of a patient with moderate to severe scoliosis is often challenging in dental set-ups, due to their poor sitting postures caused by spinal curvature. Intra-operative complexities usually increase with the increased severity of their spinal curvatures, which can be problematic on the ends of both patients and their dentists, ultimately affecting the treatment outcomes and quality of care. To minimize the poor outcomes and optimize the quality of care and treatment, dental operators should follow proper protocols while dealing with such patients. In this study, we performed the literature review and identified studies related to our topic in three different databases, with Boolean search and followed Prisma guidelines. But the results showed a lack of literature having any such guidelines present. The aim of this article is to highlight the difficulties that are faced by the dental practitioners and their patients with scoliosis, during the dental procedures and emphasizes on the importance and formation of such guidelines that will be beneficial for both of them.&nbsp

The rising magnitude of obesity among housewives residing in urban areas is a matter of highly concern. There is no denying the fact that obesity is a health risk and it triggers the co-morbidities. Therefore, the present research study was conducted with concerted effort aiming to find out the risk factors associated with obesity among housewives in the urban areas of District Multan, Punjab. The target population of the study was housewives. A sample of 100 housewives with Body Mass Index >25 was drawn by using simple random sampling after completing the listing process. The interview schedule was conducted and well-structured research questionnaire was used to collect the data. The descriptive and inferential statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean percentage and chi-square was employed. The results indicate that aging (p-Value<0.001), educational status (p-Value <0.003) and any form of physical activity (p-Value<0.001) were strongly associated with the obesity among housewives. Regarding the knowledge, 65% of the housewives were equipped with the knowledge of the risk factors associated with obesity among housewives residing in the urban areas of District Multan, Punjab

Currently, many peoples have abandoned the ancestral cultures of the use of medicinal plants to cure diseases, the objective is to remember the importance of using this scientific technique of the use of herbal products to cure different diseases. The logical historical method and the inductive deductive method were used, to achieve an understanding of the importance of rescuing this technique, the result was that this science is currently used by many communities to keep their populations free of diseases, viruses, and suffering. Catastrophic, such as the most recent example of the COVID-19 pandemic. The bibliographic review was used to carry out the research, in addition to the inductive deductive method and the logical historical one, to enhance the need to continue using medicinal plants as a method of curing many diseases

Implication of inflammatory markers in post COVID syndrome

    Get PDF
Post-COVID syndrome was described in the context of a survey of prolonged COVID-19 symptoms for the first time in 2020, run by the Patient-Led Research Collaborative, citizen’s scientist group. Symptoms persisting for more than three weeks after the diagnosis of COVID-19 fall into the category of post-COVID syndrome. The most common post-COVID symptoms include fatigue, dyspnea, olfactory and gustatory dysfunction, chest pain, myalgia, and sleep and mental disorders. The pathogenesis of post-COVID syndrome is multi-factorial. Underlying chronic, low grade inflammation has been theorized for pathogenesis. Available data shows conflicting results regarding the implication of inflammatory markers in full clinical spectrum and its long-term outcome

The relationship between Physical Activity Level (PAL) and Body Mass Index (BMI) among adolescents (Ages 15-18)

    Get PDF
The study aims to investigate the relationship between the level of physical activity among adolescents (aged 15-18) and the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a universally recognized measure for distinguishing between overweight, obesity, and normal weight in individuals. The study was conducted on a sample of 20 students (both males and females) whose ages ranged from 15 to 18. These students were enrolled in the Hafar Al-Sass Mohammed Al-Eid Secondary School in the Wadi El Zenati Province, Guelma. The researcher employed a descriptive methodology for the study, using a questionnaire that addressed the types of physical activities performed by individuals in their daily lives to assess their level of physical activity. The study also relied on the Body Mass Index (BMI) as determined by IOTF standards. The study results indicated a very weak inverse relationship between the level of physical activity and the Body Mass Index for the study sample, with R = -0.14, which was not statistically significant as the Sig value (0.954) was greater than 0.05. The study also found that individuals in the sample with low levels of physical activity represented 75% of the study sample (15 students).&nbsp

Technical landfills sites are an effective tool for waste valorization, recovery and disposal: Case of Jijel province

    Get PDF
Projects such as technical landfill centers, waste conversion and sorting units, and inert landfills play a crucial role as significant solutions, especially in the absence of alternative projects or during their establishment, such as waste valorization initiatives, including the innovative project in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme. These initiatives have objectives in line with the principles of sustainable development, promoting the circular economy, generating financial returns, combating climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. They achieve this by involving citizens and associations in management, allocating a dedicated budget for funding, and creating ample space to address the challenge of unplanned landfills. This approach aims to solve the problem of unplanned landfills, create wealth and employment opportunities while preserving the environment. Activating such projects can solve the waste problem that has burdened the specific case of Constantine by addressing the issue of unplanned landfills. This initiative is facilitated by the fact that a significant portion of the waste is organic and recyclable, which bodes well for the region
