    Get PDF
Background:  aberrant & accelerated wound-healing process that results in hypertrophic scarring causes extracellular matrix & collagen to deposit abnormally in the dermis. After tissue damage occurs, a defensive reaction called tissue repair occurs. Aim; in this review; we aimed to present the effectiveness of low-energy fractional carbon dioxide laser therapy in treating hypertrophic scars following surgery. Summary:  A safe & effective approach for treating hypertrophic burn scars is fractional ablative CO2 laser therapy. Even though more treatment sessions have been necessary for satisfying outcomes, a big improvement can be seen after just one round of therapy. Combination therapy with other modalities can decrease the need for repetition of therapy as efficacy increases. Though, in some studies, combination therapy may shorten the duration of studied case downtime & in others, combination therapy may increase side effects. essential for laser energy setting needs to be adjusted for each hypertrophic scar condition. larger research population & longer follow-up period are recommended

Gastric cancer remains one of the most common malignant tumors and a leading cause of death. However, there are few reports about the anti-tumor effect of Fasudil (Fas) on the stomach. Establishment of nude mice model of gastric cancer to evaluate the anti-tumor effect of Fas. The mice in each group were weighed every week. Serum and tumor tissue cytokines are detected by commercial kits. Serum and tumor tissue superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde were detected by commercial kits. Histopathological changes in the tumor were detected by HE staining. Expression of ROS/ TXNIP/NLRP3/Caspase-1 pathway in tumor tissues was detected by Western blot. Our results showed that Fas increased and decreased the body weight of tumor mice, increased serum and tumor tissue cytokines contents of tumor mice, increased serum and tumor tissue oxidative stress of tumor mice, and increased Bax, Caspase-3, Caspase-9 protein expression, reduced Bcl-2 protein expression, also regulated ROS/TXNIP/NLRP3/Caspase-1 pathway expression. Our experiments show that Fas has a significant anti-gastric cancer effect, and its mechanism is related to the regulation of oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis in vivo

Availability and accessibility have been associated in previous studies with binge and heavy drinking. In a College of Education in Delta stale ,Nigeria from 2012 till date the sales of alcohol was officially prohibited in all the sales outlets within the school premises except in the Staff club . This study examined the effects of the ban on the drinking habit of staff. Data was collected from 190 academic and non academic staff working in College of Education, Agbor. Delta State. A self administered questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data collected. The results showed no significant differences as reported by the drinkers between when alcohol was sold within the premise and now that it is sold outside. The major reason for this insignificant difference might be because the students and staff live outside the campus, so it is still easy to obtain alcohol outside the school. It was therefore concluded that a positive reduction can only be achieved if there is restriction in the sales of alcohol close to the school
