Enhancing general physicians' awareness for prompt specialist referral in a treatable rare pathology
Background: This study aimed to assess the awareness of general physicians regarding treatable rare pathologies and their referral practices. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was employed in Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Peshawar, involving 100 general physicians practicing in various healthcare settings. Data was collected through surveys and interviews conducted between June 2022 and December 2022. Results: The survey results showed that only 45% of general physicians had adequate knowledge of treatable rare pathologies, while 35% had limited awareness and 20% were uncertain. Barriers to awareness included limited formal education, lack of updated guidelines and resources, time constraints, and heavy workloads. Conclusion: This study highlights the need for interventions to enhance general physicians' awareness of treatable rare pathologies and improve their referral practices. Collaboration between general physicians and specialists, provision of updated guidelines and resources, and patient education initiatives are crucial for optimizing patient outcomes in cases of treatable rare pathologies
Ethical, legal, and social issues related to the retrieval of personal information through digital contact tracing apps: Lessons from Japan
During the COVID-19 pandemic, digital contact tracing apps were developed and operated in various countries. They were partially effective in preventing COVID-19 transmission and fairly allocating finite healthcare resources such as hospitals. However, the functionality of digital contact tracing apps considerably varied among different countries. While one of the differences included technological development capabilities, a more prominent difference was that although digital contact tracing apps promoted public health benefits and the efficient use of finite healthcare resources, they also potentially increased the risk of personal information leakage or misuse of the app users' data. Higher app-mediated intervention facilitates the prevention of infectious disease transmission; nevertheless, it also increases the risk to users’ privacy
Evaluation of low level laser therapy versus topical steroids in management of symptomatic oral lichen planus by detecting the level of salivary interleukin-6: Controlled clinical trial
Background: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a relatively common chronic inflammatory immune-mediated disease affecting the oral mucosa with episodes of exacerbations and remissions. The current study was aimed to compare between the therapeutic outcomes of using low level laser therapy (LLLT) and topical steroids in management of symptomatic OLP and to correlate between the salivary levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in in relation to the clinical scores (CS) and pain visual analogue scores (P-VAS) before and after treatment. Subjects and methods: 40 participants were included in this study and were divided into 4 groups of 10 participants each. Group (I) included ten symptomatic atrophic or erosive OLP patients and received topical steroid (triamcinolone acetonide 0.1%). Group (II) comprised also of ten patients having symptomatic OLP and managed with LLLT using 810 nm diode laser. Group (III) included ten patients with asymptomatic reticular OLP. Group (IV) included ten healthy volunteers having no oral or skin lichen planus lesions.
Training evaluation for nurses and midwives using the Kirkpatrick model: A qualitative descriptive study
Evaluation of training implementation is a form of evaluation of training that has been carried out as a basis for further training development. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the implementation of training for nurses and midwives. This study used a qualitative study design by adopting the Kirkpatrick evaluation model. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The stages of data analysis were carried out by content analysis using thematic coding, analytical induction, and technical concept mapping. A total of 12 people were involved in this study with 75% nurses and 25% midwives. The results of the FGDs and interviews found that the expected form of training was mixed training, learning media that supported time and place flexibility, evaluation of results based on significant pretest and posttest scores, no visible changes in behavior, and training provided increased knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The implementation of training planning is a systematic process starting from implementation and evaluation. Evaluation of training implementation using the Kirkpatrick model can be the basis for improving training delivery such as the form of training, training venues, training time, meeting learning needs
The impact of implementing the health transformation strategy on health services delivery from employee’s point of view
The study aimed to assess the impact of the health transformation strategy on the provision of healthcare services from the perspective of employees in the Kingdom. The descriptive and analytical methodology was used, along with a questionnaire, to collect data from administrative staff in hospitals and healthcare centers. After analyzing the data, the study found that there is a high level of health transformation in the Kingdom across its three dimensions, and there is also a high level of healthcare service provision. The study also found a statistically significant positive correlation between the level of health transformation across its three dimensions and the level of healthcare service provision in the Kingdom. Important findings from the study include the need to improve the level of healthcare staff and provide a supportive and stimulating environment for their work, as well as improving communication with beneficiaries of healthcare services. The study recommended maintaining the Kingdom's excellent level of healthcare services by providing all the necessary resources and requirements to achieve the goals of Vision 2030
Combined superior and inferior dermoglandular flaps for projection enhancement in giantic breast amputation and free nipple areola graft
Giantomastia has been a pathological condition in which excised breast tissue weighs more than1.5 kg per breast or when breast weight surpasses three percent of body weight. epidermis & Cooper's ligaments, which support breast tissue, expand as a result of breasts becoming heavier & larger, which causes breast ptosis. Numerous methods for correcting gigantomastia have been discovered. amputation for decreased studied cases who complain of gigantomastia & severe ptosis (space among nipple & inframammary fold exceeds twenty-five cm) are only eligible for mammaplasty with free nipple-areola grafting. purpose of that surgery is to achieve breast shape size that is acceptable while also relieving pain & suffering brought on by excessive breast tissue hypertrophy. flat, boxy breasts with poor projection is the main drawback of that treatment. Several flaps, including superior, inferior, medial, superomedial,& lateral-based flaps combined with wise-pattern skin excision, are employed to address this drawback

Results: The overall mean age of group I and II was 30.4±2.6 and 29.8±2.5 respectively. A significant difference was observed in mean endometrial thickness between groups I and II on day 2 (4.6 mm versus 3.3 mm) and day 14 (8.4 mm versus 5.8 mm) (P<0.001).
Calibrated behaviors assessment in spinal cord compression injury model in rats
Spinal cord injuries (SCI) are often associated with dire consequences resulting in the serious pathological conditions in SCI patients. These consequences have resulted in an increased interest of basic science researchers and healthcare professionals to investigate effective treatment of SCI. Among these initiatives, animal experimentation models emerged as a successful tool to study the SCI in detail. We created a standardized spinal cord compression injury model for this research and tested its effectiveness in examining the behaviors of rodents with SCI. We used 24 mature Sprague Dawley rats, weighing between 250 and 320g. Two sets, A and B, of rats were created. Under general anesthesia, Rat from group A underwent laminectomy and only had the T6–T8 vertebrae of their spinal arch removed. in contrast to the rats in group B underwent laminectomy as well as compression injuries using an aneurysm clip of 70 gm for 60 seconds. All the rats were observed at day 7, 14 and 28 following the experimentation. Using standardised techniques, the sensory-motor abilities were evaluated.
