    Pandemic in between waves: Epidemiological & clinical findings from a single COVID-19 screening centre of Madhya Pradesh, India

    Aim - The aim of this study was to assess the epidemiological & clinical characteristics of patients attending covid-19 screening centre in-between the first & second wave. The study period falls between receding first wave to beginning of second wave. Materials and method - The medical records and data from screening area of Government Medical Collage Datia, with confirmed Covid-19 cases, as reported between 1st October 2020 to 8th February 2021, were collected. Covid-19 symptoms were diagnosed on the basis of the WHO interim guidelines. A confirmed case of Covid-19 was defined as a positive result on real-time RAT assay of nasal swab. The RAT were performed by Standard Q Covid-19 Ag by SD BIOSENSOR. The procedure for collecting nasal swabs entails swabbing at least three times separately using a nylon-flocked swab. The entire procedure was in strict accordance with the standard protocol. Epidemiological data of all the patients with clinical findings and positivity rate was recorded in detail. Result - In our study, the total number of patients tested was 4427 of which 1987 were males & 2440 were females. Out of 1987 male suspects, 211 tested positive whereas out of 2440 female suspects, 64 tested positive.&nbsp

    Differentiating between various pathologies showing ring enhancement on MRI

    Introduction: Ring-enhancing lesions are one of the most commonly encountered neuroimaging abnormalities visualized on MRI. The most common etiologies causing ring enhancing lesion include tuberculomas, neurocysticercosis, abscess, infarct and demyelination disorders.Mostly the ring-enhancing lesions are located at junction of the gray and white matter but in few cases they are seen in the sub-cortical area& deep brain parenchyma.Few specific features of ring enhancing lesions seen in sequences of MRI brain coupled with clinical history helps in narrowing down our diagnosis. Material and methods: 55 patients with ring enhancing lesions on MR imaging in Dhiraj hospital were considered in our study. A detailed clinical history along with general and systemic examination, especially evaluation of neurological status was done in all the patients. Results: 55 indoor patients admitted to medical ward in Dhiraj hospital of age group 16 to 70 yearswere selected for the study. Majority were in the age group of thirty to forty five years. Headache emerged as the most common complaint that the patients presented with. Out of a total of 55, 49 patients complained of headache. Vomiting was seen in 39,Seizures was seen in 21 and episodes of loss of consciousness in 11 patients.&nbsp

    Determinant and status of income disparity among urban households: The case of north Shewa Zone, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia

    The policy message for the developing world was clear: you can’t expect to have both lower poverty and less inequality while you remain poor, and if you choose to give poverty reduction highest priority then focus on growth.  Ethiopia’s experience is a case in point for the complex interaction between inequality and growth.  Structural transformation and poverty reduction may require the implementation of reforms that could lead to an increase in income disparities in addition to the growth of economy.  Urban inequality has been given less attention on research and development agenda of Ethiopia particularly for medium towns   like zone and district town of North Shewa Zone. In Ethiopia, annual urban population growth rate is estimated to be above 4.3 %. In line with this income inequality in urban areas income inequality is growing up and the incidence of urban poverty in developing country like Ethiopia is very high.  Thus, the present study aims to identify the determinant and status   of income inequality among urban households of North Shewa Zone Oromia National regional state by using Gini index and multiple regression models on the data collected from 400 respondents

    Community-based intervention for the prevention of stunting in children age 6-59 months: A systematic review

    Stunting is still a primary nutritional problem in many parts of the world. Globally, WHO (2021) has stated that 22% of children under five years are stunted, equalling an estimated 149.2 million children, most of whom are found in Asia and Africa. Many factors cause stunting, so the government needs a multisectoral approach to overcome this problem. In addition, because stunting is prevalent across vast areas, community-based interventions can save time and handling costs. This study was conducted with the aim of finding evidence of community-based interventions in the management of stunting in children aged 6-59 months. The study employed systematic review methods using the databases Pubmed, Ebsco, ProQuest, Emerald, Scopus and Google Scholar. 7 articles were identified from a total of 1191 articles through analysis using the PICO approach. The analysis showed that community-based interventions have taken place employing education, training, dietary supplements, and monitoring growth and development. The findings show evidence of interventions overcoming the problem of stunting in children aged 6-59 months

    Vegetables and fruits is a good source of micronutrients contains fiber, vitamins and minerals. Vegetables and fruits for teenagers can nourish the digestive system, promote bone growth, nourish the eyes, promote the development of brain and nerve cells. Based on Balanced Nutrition Guidelines 2018, the need for vegetables and fruit for adolescents is 00-600g per day, which includes 250g of vegetables and 150g. Based on data from Riskesdas 2018, it can be seen that nationally, the behavior of the population over 10 years old (adolescents) eat less vegetables and fruit is 95.5%, this figure is an increase compared to with the results of Riskesdas. 2013 was 93.5%.The purpose of this study was to describe the knowledge and consumption of vegetables and fruit in adolescents.  The design of this research is descriptive research. The sampling method used is simple random sampling with a target of 87 respondents. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Ciomas, Bogor Regency. Data were obtained by respondents filling out a knowledge questionnaire containing 20 questions and a FFQ (Food frequency questionnaire)

    Effect of Kinesio taping therapy for pain reduction in carpal tunnel syndrome patients: Meta-analysis

    Background: Carpal Tunel Syndrome (CTS) is the most common nerve compression. Some cases of CTS have symptoms. The most common complaint felt by patients is "Nocturnal Acroparesthesia", which is tingling pain at night. Physiotherapy measures can be taken to relieve CTS complaints, one of which is the use of Kinesiotaping. This study aims to analyze the effect of Kinesiotaping on pain reduction in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome by summarizing several previous studies with RevMan 5.3. Subject and Method: This article is a systematic and meta-analytical study. The study used the PICO model as follows. Population = Patients with Carpal Tunel Syndrome, Intervention = Kinesiotaping therapy, Comparison = No Kinesiotaping therapy, and Outcome = Carpal Tunel Pain reduction. The articles used in this study were obtained from several databases including PubMed, ScienceDirect, Semantics, and Google Scholar. Articles are collected in a month. The keywords to search for the article were as follows: kinesiotaping OR "kinesio tape" OR pain OR "carpal tunnel syndrome" AND "Randomized controlled trial". The articles included in this study. Results: There are 8 articles included in the meta-analysis research.&nbsp

    A microbiological study of surgical infections in tertiary care hospital of Rewa District

    Most common involvement of aerobes and anaerobes is observed in surgical infections. They are mostly polymicrobial. 52 cases comprised of abscesses and study of 19 cases with wounds having devitalized tissues was done. Abscess had highest micro organism, which were isolated per lesion. The ratio of aerobe to anaerobe was 8.6 and 5.5 in group A and group B respectively. Predominant aerobes were S. aureus and E coli while predominant anaerobes were Bacteroides fragilis and Peptostreptococcus anaerobius. Surgical Infection are more with contaminated surgical wound than clean surgical wound. Commonly E. coli and S aureus were causing surgical infections. Better understanding of these microbiological pathogens was seen in present study which has therapeutic and epidemiological implications. To conduct further research this study can act as pilot study
