    Get PDF
With the growing urbanization that is taking place in every major city in the world, most people are opting to relocate to communities without gates. Therefore, there is a need to develop an android app that will monitor people's activities and times so as to give them safety in this fast-altering world. This application will keep track of all the activities happening in the building and will also make daily activities easy and fast such as by providing guest code verification, daily helps registration, parcel monitoring and etc. In today's technology department, the user expects automation that makes a particular task easier, safer and more effective. The idea is to upgrade our old-style garden irrigation structure to an automatic intelligent system by means of Internet of Things (IoT) features. In this program, we have used a soil moisture sensor, a temperature sensor and a moisture sensor installed in the root zone. We have proposed to create an application that will send a notification about fraud at the gate and the owner will inspect it. The automation of garden irrigation will be supervised by a public guard and secretary

To evaluate association of serum Vitamin D level and development of polyneuropathy. This was a case -control study and the study was conducted on an outpatient basis. Fifty-five subjects were recruited from the Medicine OPD of UPUMS Saifai. All subjects had type-2 diabetes (male and female, 40-60 years old). The Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument (15-point questionnaire) was used to identify patients with neuropathy (score > 7/15). 20 patients did not have neuropathy and were designated the control group. 35 patients did have neuropathy (“study group”) and these patients underwent a detailed quantitative neuropathy evaluation by a neurologist using the 46-point Michigan Diabetic Neuropathy Scale (MDNS) and nerve conduction studies. We measured the serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS) chromatography in all patients. These values were compared between the control and study group, and were correlated with the detailed neuropathy score in the study group. Patients with diabetic polyneuropathy had a lower mean serum 25- hydroxyvitamin D level (16. 41 ng/ml with the SD of: 2.026) in comparison to the controls (38.76 ng/ml with the SD of 5.483)

The antimicrobial effect of silver nanoparticles coated with silica against human pathogenic bacteria and fungi

    Get PDF
The antibacterial property of silver (Ag) has been known since ancient time. It is reported in the literature that silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) exhibit improved antibacterial and antifungal properties in comparison to silver ions of equivalent metallic Ag concentration.A simple method has been used based on solenoid soles for the synthesis of nanoparticles of silver coated on silica. AgNPs were compared positively with silver nitrate solution and ampicillin standard antibiotics at a concentration of 50μg / mL (Table 1 and 2). AgNPs mentioned in the silica activity exhibited more than standard silver nitrate and antibiotics. AgNPs were fairly toxic to Salmonella sp., Neisseria sp., Klebsiella sp., and Pseudomonas sp. with an inhibition zone 21, 24, 16, 23 mm respectively. AgNPs exhibited strong antifungal activity against fungal strains (Candida sp., Aspergillus fumigatus and Aspergillus flavus) in different concentrations such as 30-50 and 60 μg/ml were examined for antifungal activity. AgNPs revealed the highest antifungal activity with the inhibition zone 26, 25 and 22 mm respectively. Results of the present study prevealed that AgNPs have a remarkable potential as antimicrobial agent in treating infectious diseases

Background: Early discharge of healthy term newborns after delivery has become a common practice because of medical and social reasons and economic constraints. Thus, the recognition, follow-up, and early treatment of jaundice has become more difficult as a result of earlier discharge. This study is done to know the cut-off value of cord blood bilirubin and establish correlation between cord blood bilirubin level and development of significant neonatal hyperbilirubinemia without having significant risk factors and its treatment modality and outcome. Methods: This prospective study performed on 150 eligible term newborns born to mothers with ‘A’ Positive, ‘B’ Positive and ‘AB’ Positive blood group. Cord blood was collected from healthy term newborns delivered by caesarean section for total serum bilirubin and blood group. Serum bilirubin estimation was repeated at 72 hrs after birth by peripheral venous blood Results: Subjects were categorized into hyperbilirubinemia and non-hyperbilirubinemia newborns. Babies with serum bilirubin level of ≥17mg/dl after 72 hrs of life were considered for phototherapy and it is taken as significant hyperbilirubinemia in the present study
