    Get PDF
Background: Goodpasture syndrome is an autoimmune disorder characterized by the presence of anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) antibodies, leading to significant lung and kidney complications, particularly pulmonary hemorrhage and glomerulonephritis. The disease has a poor prognosis if not promptly treated, making early identification and intervention crucial. Aim: This article aims to provide an updated overview of Goodpasture syndrome, highlighting its etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment approaches, to enhance healthcare professionals' understanding and management of this condition. Methods: A comprehensive review of current literature on Goodpasture syndrome was conducted, focusing on its clinical presentation, histopathological findings, and advancements in diagnostic techniques. The article discusses relevant immunological aspects, genetic predispositions, and the significance of serological testing in diagnosis. Results: The incidence of Goodpasture syndrome is estimated at 0.5 to 1.8 cases per million annually, with a bimodal age distribution. Genetic factors, particularly the presence of specific human leukocyte antigens (HLAs), play a significant role in disease susceptibility. The pathophysiology involves circulating autoantibodies targeting type IV collagen, leading to crescentic glomerulonephritis and pulmonary damage. Renal biopsy remains the gold standard for diagnosis, with immunofluorescence microscopy revealing characteristic linear immunoglobulin deposits.&nbsp

Pot experiments were conducted to evaluate fertilizing capacity of different organic manures on the yield of Isabgol (Plantago ovata) plant. Experiments were conducted using different organic manures (Kultha Powder, Til Khali, Vermi-compost) and their fertilizing capacity were compared with control. The fertilizing capacities of different organic manures were assessed on the basis of fruit yield and dry matter yield of Isabgol plant. Study observed low levels of micronutrients (Copper and Iron) in post soil analysis with Kultha powder and Til, compared to the control, this may be attributed to the increased uptake of these micronutrients by the plant. This observation was further supported by the higher dry matter yield and greater number of fruits in the Kultha and Til treated pots. HPTLC analysis was also conducted to assess the chemical constituents of the test plant grown under the influence of different manures. The active constituents were found to be highest in the Kultha treated plants, followed by those treated with Til khali. Study suggested Kultha powder and Til as promising manure compared to others for the cultivation of Isabgol plant.&nbsp

Pregnant women's knowledge related to integrated ANC services: Scoping review

    Get PDF
Complications of pregnancy and childbirth as the highest cause of maternal death can be prevented by regular pregnancy checks through Integrated Antenatal Care (ANC). Integrated Antenatal Services provided by trained and professional health personnel can prevent and detect complications in fetuses and pregnant women early so that undesirable things do not happen in the future. WHO data shows that the importance of Integrated ANC visits has not become a top priority for some pregnant women during their pregnancies in Indonesia. This scoping review aims to review the importance of Integrated ANC knowledge for pregnant women and the needs of Integrated ANC providers. The method in this review uses a scoping review technique. The scoping review research design was chosen because the reference sources used in the research were varied, originating from several articles. The results of this study showed that after carrying out the chi-square test, it was concluded that there was a relationship between knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding Integrated Pregnancy Visits (ANC) with a p value of 0.02 (p < 0.05). The study conducted provides evidence to support the need for pregnant women in Integrated ANC services so that maternal and infant mortality rates are reduced

    Get PDF
Plants have been the basis of traditional medicine throughout the world and continue to provide new remedies for humanity, so a great effort has been made to use available experimental techniques to identify natural antioxidants from plants. Several authors have examined the beneficial uses of these plant species. In order to contribute to the valorization of the Algerian flora, we are interested in this study by phytochemical study of two plants of Calendula officinalis and Berberis vulgaris which are much used in the traditional medicine at the region of Djelfa and evaluate their antioxidant activity with the DPPH test. The qualitative phytochemical examination of Berberis vulgaris root showed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, sterols, triterpenes and reducing compounds in large quantities, and it also revealed lower amounts of coumarins, terpenoids, saponins and mucilage. Phytochemical studies of the dried petals of calendula officinalis revealed the presence of tannins, alkaloids, Sterols and Triterpenes, and saponosides. The tests for flavonoids and coumarins were negative on our extract. The antioxidant activity of Berberis vulgaris root was measured by the DPPH free radical scavenging technique

    Get PDF
Abortion is still a problem that receives special attention because based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), abortion accounts for 15-50% of the causes of maternal death in the world. One of the risk factors for abortion is infection during pregnancy, including toxoplasmosis. The aim of this study was to analyze whether there was a relationship between toxoplasma IgG avidity levels and the risk of abortion. The research uses a literature review study to identify, analyze, and evaluate scientific papers through MDPI, PubMed, and ScienceDirect data sources. 60 articles were produced from the four data sources, there were 7 articles that passed the inclusion criteria which are summarized in the PRISMA diagram. The results in one article mentioned two abortions and the other article mentioned 17 abortions, both in first trimester pregnant women with low toxoplasma IgG avidity levels. Both articles show the results that women who have low toxoplasma IgG avidity levels experience more abortions in the early trimester than women who have medium or high toxoplasma IgG avidity levels. The conclusion of this study was that there was a relationship between toxoplasma IgG avidity levels and the risk of abortion

The research aims to identify the impact of visual exercises on some basic skills of football players, to solve one of the problems facing the development of the game of football, which is the speed of reaction and the skill of holding the ball, where a group of goalkeepers were formed for the age group of 11-12 years to participate in this study. They were assigned vision-based Synaptic glasses to expose players to unique visual training. These glasses feature time control for the displayed images, causing disruptive clear vision for short periods during training the performance of the guards participating in different exercises before and after the training period was measured using stroboscope glasses. The data were also analyzed and performance results compared to determine the impact of stroboscopic visual training on goalkeeper performance. As the researchers used the experimental approach by designing experimental groups using the pre- and post-test, and the research sample was tested in a deliberate way from youth football players during the 2022/2023 sports season, where appropriate statistical means were used, which is the statistical fact, and the results resulted in significant differences between the pre- and post-tests in favor of the post-test,,,&nbsp

    Get PDF
The influence of financial incentives on work commitment is widely studied, yet the effects of financial incentives on healthcare workers ‘commitment in a pandemic situation remains underexplored. Drawing on Ghana government’s financial incentives policy as part of its COVID-19 response, we examined the relationship between Financial Incentives (GFI) and work commitment [Adherence to Work Ethics (ATWE), Task Involvement (TI) and Organisational Citizenship Behaviours (OCB)] among COVID-19 Frontline Healthcare Workers (FHWs), and the mediating effect of Job Satisfaction (JS). Of the 187 COVID-19 FHWs in two sampled hospitals in the Ashanti region, purposive and stratified sampling techniques were used to select 126 respondents from whom data were gathered using structured questionnaires. SPSS and Smart PLS Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) were used to analyse the data. Baron and Kenny's (1986) causal-effect model of mediation analysis was used to determine the mediating role of Job Satisfaction (JS). GFI predicted ATWE positively but insignificantly. However, GFI had a significant positive effect on TI, OCB and JS. JS had no significant mediating effect on the relationship between GFI and ATWE. However, JS partially mediated the relationship between GFI, TI, and OCB. These findings offer critical insights for effectively managing the healthcare workforce during pandemics

    Get PDF
Background: Uterine and umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry have shown promise but the results of previous studies have not been conclusive/poor methodologies. Aim: To determine the predictive value of uterine and umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry for pre-eclampsia and pregnancy outcomes. Methods: A comparative study among 100 women who attended ante natal clinic in the hospital within the study period who has high risk for development of pre-eclampsia. The peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity, Resistivity index, Pulsatility index and S/D ratio of the uterine and umbilical arteries were studied at 18-20 weeks and 36-37 weeks. sociodemographic data were recorded. Data were analysed using SPSS (version 26, Chicago11, USA). P value of ≤ 0.05 was significant. Results: Resistivity/Pulsatility indices at 18-20 weeks are better predictors of preeclampsia as against EDV at 36-37 weeks. Pregnant women at 18-20 weeks gestational showed that only mean RI (≈ 0.53  0.02) of the umbilical artery was associated with adverse outcome (p = 0.009). However, at 36-37 weeks, the mean uterine artery EDV of 14.69  2.04 was associated with adverse outcome (p = 0.001). Conclusion Adverse pregnancy outcome at n18-20 weeks was associated with resistivity index while EDV is more associated with adverse outcomes at 36-37 weeks.
