Effect of corporate governance on risk management of selected deposit money banks in Nigeria
This paper addresses effect of corporate governance on risk management by bank. Selected deposit money banks base on FOBES list were selected to address the effect in question. The questions asked to which answers were provided among others includes: To what extent (if any) does board strength, shareholders influence and management efficiency influence or affect capital risk, credit risk and liquidity risk of banks in Nigeria. The study is limited to six randomly selected listed commercial banks in Nigeria over the period of six years. In carrying out the analysis, the panel data regression analysis method was adopted. The variables used for this analysis are: the board index and management influence as proxies for corporate governance; capital risk, credit risk and liquidity risk all as proxy variables for risk taking by banks. The data were sourced from the audited financial statements of the sample banks. The estimated result revealed a negative relationship between capital risk and corporate governance which invariably means that the capital risk goes up as Corporate Governance disclosure increases. The result further shows that the more the corporate governance disclosure, the less the credit and liquidity risk taking by the banks in Nigeria
A cross sectional observational study on red cell distribution width (RDW) in stroke patients
Red Cell Distribution Width in past was used to differentiate between different types of anemia. In last few years, several studies have revealed that RDW is an independent risk factor for many critical clinical cases, especially for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. a cross sectional study designed to observe the RDW among the patient with stroke and among patient who are admitted in intensive care unit because of other reason.present study was conducted over a period of 1 years in a tertiary care hospital in the city of central India. A total 300intensive care unit patient were recruited in the study whom are aged above 18 years and patient/relative ready to give consent. Among them 150 were admitted with stroke which are allocated in group A (cases)and other 150 with other diseases in group B (control). Observation of the present study a total 300 participant were there 148 male and 152 female , the mean age of participants is 61.8 ±2.963 (±4.79%). 104 patient were having ischemic stroke, 46 patient were having haemorrhagic stroke .
Inhibitory efficacy of clove extract against some aflatoxin-producing fungi
This study was conducted in the Department of Life Sciences / College of Education for Pure Sciences / University of Karbala, where the effects of the alcoholic and aqueous extract of cloves on 21 aflatoxin-producing fungi isolated from foodstuffs were studied. 2.5 If compared to the comparison treatment and treatments in which concentrations of water and alcoholic extracts of cloves were used, if the alcoholic extract of cloves showed a high effectiveness in inhibiting the tested fungi, it was inhibitory for all fungi producing aflatoxin at a concentration of 2.5 mg/ml. As for the aqueous extract only, the results of the statistical analysis at the probability level of 2.5 mg / ml, there were clear significant differences between the tested fungi and high significant differences between The comparison treatment and the concentrations used for the extract Watery carnation The results of the study also showed that the alcoholic extract is more effective in inhibiting the growth of fungi than the aqueous extract
