Undetachable hollow light weight vacuum formed cheek plumper to restore esthetics of a completely edentulous patient

    Get PDF
Facial esthetics is an integral part of dental treatment. Edentulous patient are increasingly demanding improvement in esthetics at the end of treatment. The edentulous state is associated with loss of teeth, resorbed  alveolar ridge, reduced muscle tonicity, and hollow cheeks. Complete denture treatment includes not only the replacement of missing teeth but also the restoration of facial appearance. In individuals with marked resorption of the alveolar process, conventional dentures fail to provide adequate support; necessitating additional support for the cheeks. This can be done using cheek plumper or cheek lifting appliances. This article has described a simple, effective and non-invasive treatment alternative to improve facial appearance in a completely edentulous patient using undetachable light weighted hollow  vaccum sheet formed plumper prosthesis

    Get PDF
In a developing country like India, the incidence of snake bites is very high. Some states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, etc. are the worst affected states. The rate of fatality is also comparatively higher in India as there is usually a delay in hospital admission. In the present study, we observed a higher incidence of snakebites amongst farmers and field workers in the age range of 21 to 40 years with a male preponderance.  Most commonly bite marks were seen on legs and hands. Pain, local swelling, and neurotoxic features were dominant clinical features at the time of hospitalization. None of the victims were found using protective measures such as rubber gloves or long boots while working in the field.      &nbsp

Profit-oriented micro-finance institutions in India: A governance and performance perspective

    Get PDF
Micro-finance institutions (MFIs) as financial intermediaries, help poor to come out of extreme poverty   through the purposeful lending to those looking to generate income for the livelihood needs. These micro-finance institutions need good governance to ensure improved performance to achieve sustainability and growth. The review of literature has produced mixed results in studies on the influence of governance on the performance of microfinance institutions. There is no enough research undertaken in measuring the impact of governance on the functioning of microfinance institutions, particularly in the context of ‘Profit-Oriented’ MFIs in India exclusively. This research examined the effect of governance on the overall performance of ‘Profit-Oriented’ micro-finance institutions. Using regression technique, evaluation of governance and performance of ‘Profit-Oriented’ MFIs has been undertaken to check the possible impact and it is being found that governance has an impact on the performance. This research emphasized on the impact of governance on the performance of ‘Profit-Oriented’ micro-finance institutions. The governance and performance indicators, identified as independent and dependent variables respectively, from the review of literature using regression technique. As this research can be useful for the  microfinance institutions, as several  MFIs are transforming   from ‘Non-Profit Oriented ’MFIs  to ‘Profit-Oriented’ MFIs  in  providing micro-finance services
