    Get PDF
Dental trauma are accidental injuries, that may occur in any stage of life, be it infancy, childhood, adolescence or adulthood. Most TDIs occur at home, followed by at school and in the street or other public places. Such injuries may have better prognosis if the general public were informed about basic first-aid measures and seek medical care promptly. As dental healthcare providers, it is our responsibility to identify and either provide the necessary care for children with acute traumatic dental injuries or refer the case for optimal care depending on the complexity of the injury and the clinician’s knowledge, and expertise. Dental traumatology requires more attention and profound discussion in paediatric dentistry as dental and oro-facial trauma is being encountered commonly, in children

Dexamethasone (DEX) is used to treat several diseases and medical conditions in both animals and humans. But the administration of synthetic glucocorticoids, including dexamethasone, as a treatment, brings about endocrine misbalance. Such a disequilibrium underlies pregnancy complications. The current study investigates effects of High Dose of DEX (HD) (1.125 mg) and Low Dose of DEX (LD) (0.562 mg) on Progesterone (P), Progesterone Receptors (PR) and Calcitonin (C) in domestic pregnant does (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Sixty pregnant does were caged in the animal house and divided into six groups; A, B, C, D, E and F (n=10). These groups are treated as follows: Groups A and B (as an experimental groups) were daily injected by (1ml) from day 5 to 9 of gestation (dG) with HD and LD, respectively; whereas group C was injected by (1 ml) of sodium chloride (0.9%) (as a control group). Then, all the groups (A, B and C) were dissected at 10 and 28 dG

The Kongu Vellalar were of great assistance to the king by being in various positions and ranks in the army. They also got the title ‘Kamindan' from the ding for their meritorious service and loyalty. Late the title got modified as Counden'. Certain rules and procedures were put in place to help the boy and girl live together more smoothly. Certain rules' processes and customs evolved into 'rites.' Marriage is the combined execution of all ceremonies in a sequence termed marriage. All ceremonies linked with KonguVellalar marriage are done by 'arumaikaarar' arumaikaari, naavidhan (Barbar), washing man (vannaan), and others intimately associated with the occupation of KonguVellalaGounders. The KonguVellalar marriage is similar to the Aryan 'prajaapathyam' type marriage. In a KonguVellalar marriage, the bridegroom's family visits the bride's home to propose the marriage and seek the bride's family's approval for the match. The marriage takes happens once the bride's family gives their assent

Background: OSMF is an oral precancerous condition with a high potential for malignant transformation. The main etiologic factor linked to OSMF is gutkha and tobacco chewing. Management of OSMF includes various therapies and drugs where the use of antioxidants has proven to be efficacious. Aim: The present study was conducted to compare and assess the efficacy of Lycopene antioxidant alone to its combination with intralesional injection of Hyaluronidase for managing the subjects with OSMF.Material and Method: The study included 54 subjects having stage 2 OSMF and were divided into 2 groups where the group I subjects were given lycopene daily in a dose of 8mg in two equal doses, whereas, group II subjects were given lycopene daily in a dose of 8mg combined with intralesional hyaluronidase injection of 1500 IU twice in a week for 3 months. VAS and inter-incisal mouth opening were assessed at baseline and 90th day after treatment completion. Results: At baseline, interincisal opening in Group I was 25.18±3.03mm and was 24.56±3.92mm in Group II. This difference was statistically non-significant with p=0.5184. On the 90th day, the last day of the study, interincisal opening in Group I was 29.34±3.19mm, whereas, in Group II was 32.39±3.24mm

    Get PDF
Objective: To analyze preoperative CBCT assessment of intraoral donor sites (symphysis, ramus buccal shelf of bone, zygomatic buttress and maxillary tuberosity) for purpose of autogenous block graft. Materials and Methods: Twenty (5 for each graft) participants were included in the study, (informed consent was signed by each participant) Participants were recruited according to certain eligibility criteria. Results: The measurements of the block grafts showed that there was a significant difference between different sites (p<0.001). The highest value was found in mandibular symphysis (1.56±0.44), followed by mandibular ramus (0.99±0.19), then zygomatic buttress (0.49±0.06), while the lowest value was found in maxillary tuberosity (0.31±0.07). Post hoc pairwise comparisons showed value of mandibular symphysis to be significantly higher than other sites (p<0.05). In addition, they showed mandibular ramus value to be significantly higher than values of zygomatic buttress and maxillary tuberosity (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to this study, mandibular donor sites showed larger segmented pieces and larger volumes than their maxillary counterparts. For multiple missing teeth, the most appropriate block grafts will be the symphysis and ramus spanning the largest mesio-distal dimension. In terms of implant stability, the rami and maxillary tuberosities showed the largest thicknesses, which will ultimately help in implant stability
