    Get PDF
In this article, the author has tried to define the concept and essence of corruption as a special social phenomenon characterized by various levels and manifestations, consisting in the merging of the state and municipal apparatus with business, when official powers and position are used not in the public interest, but in personal or corporate interests, while receiving illegal remuneration is systematic and is the purpose of being in the state or municipal service. Corruption is a self-perpetuating phenomenon that exists within public life and has no national or territorial borders. This concept testifies to its imperfection and weakness and arises from the "bowels" of the state, the low legal culture of not only officials, but also society as a whole. After all, officials are a part of society. At the same time, corruption is one of the elements of the "legal" shadow life

Health care professionals played and are still playing a crucial role in containing the spread of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV 2). While being a frontliner and saving the lives of patients, healthcare professionals (HCP’s) have encountered physical but varied levels and types of psychological challenges. Psychological challenges faced by HCP’s at covid care centres have been highlighted by many researches and publications. The purpose of this study was to highlight the psychological challenges encountered by HCP’s at a non-covid cancer care institute. A self-designed survey about psychological challenges (physical changes, anxiety, perceived fear, depression, awareness, and positivity) experienced by HCP’s with purposive sampling (Doctors) was conducted in a tertiary cancer care institute. Results revealed that fear and anxiety of getting infected and infecting their significant others was significantly high among HCP’s. To maintain an effective, encouraging, and motivating workforce, psychological interventions played a key role

Aim:  Study of non metric cranial variants have been a field of considerable interest to research workers especially because of their racial and regional importance. Present study is undertaken to know the morphometric differences of hypoglossal canal and to draw any significant statistical conclusions. Materials and methods: This study is conducted on eighty central Indian dry crania of unknown sex and age. Various parameters of hypoglossal canal were measured and documented. Results: The intra cranial diameter ranged on right side from 5-7.5 mm with an average of 6.0±3 mm. On left side, it ranged from 4.5-8mm with an average of 6.8±3mm. The extra cranial diameter ranged on right side from 5.5-8.5mm with an average of 6.4±2 mm and on left side ranged from 5.5-9mm with an average of 6.2±3mm. Regarding the shape of the openings, of the eighty skulls used for this study, we found round shaped (63,78.75%), oval shaped (10,12.5%), kidney shaped (1,1.25%), tear drop shaped (4,5%), dumb bell shaped(1, 1.25%), triangle shaped(1,1.25%). Septation is observed on right side in 5 skulls (6.25%) and on left side in 8 skulls (10%)

Phytochemical constituents and anti-inflammatory activities of Clerodendrum petasites

    Get PDF
Inflammation is process of immune responses to microbial infections and cell damage. Macrophages are pro-inflammatory leukocytes crucial for initiation, maintenance, and resolution of inflammation. Root extract of a medicinal plant Clerodendrum petasites (CP), has been widely used as a component of antipyretic and anti-inflammatory remedies. In the present study, we investigated whether CP aerial part (leaf and stem) extracts had the same contents with the root extracts as well as their cytotoxicity and inflammatory effects in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated murine RAW 264.7 monocyte/macrophage-like cell model. Analysis of the methanol-extracted CP contents with the high-performance liquid chromatography ultra-violet spectroscopy (HPLC-UV) showed that major phenolic compounds found in the root extract were verbascoside and quercetin, while the aerial parts also additionally contained rosmarinic acid and hispidulin. These CP extracts were not toxic to the cells and able to inhibit production of pro-inflammatory markers, nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). In addition, the aerial CP extracts also inhibited the pro-inflammatory cytokines, interleukin 6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), suggesting additional role of rosmarinic acid and hispidulin. In conclusion, this study showed that the aerial parts of the CP contained phytochemical constituents and could be used as anti-inflammatory medicinal plants

Background: Acute  respiratory  distress  syndrome (ARDS) is an inflammatory  disease  that  affects the lung in a heterogeneous  manner , so that ,even ideal body weight (IBW) based tidal volume may apply different lung stress and strain according to the available aerated lung areas. Airway driving pressure (DP) is the difference between airway plateau pressure (P plat) and positive endexpiratory pressure (PEEP), it can be used as a bedside  surrogate for  lung stress in several previous studies. Acute corpulmonale manifested by pulmonary hypertension and  right ventricular dysfunction occurs as a consequence for ARDS  with a prevalence ( 25% to 61%) in different studies. Objectives : This study  was designed to show he clinical value of  airway  driving pressure and right heart echocardiography parameters in predicting  ARDS  outcome  , and to correlate between   airway pressures  and right ventricle  parameters. Methodology : fifty  ARDS patients  were diagnosed by  Berlin criteria  and monitored  for airway  pressures including DP  and  Pplat on day 0, day 3 and day 7. transthoracic echocardiography  was used to assess RV parameters on day 0 and day 7 .  According the ICU mortality patients are divided into survivors and nonsurvivors
