Realization of politeness strategies in EFL learners and English native speakers’ complaint and request speech acts: focusing on differences by gender and level of education
This study aimed to identify EFL learners and English native speakers’ use of politeness strategies in the compliant and request speech acts. To do so, a 50-item questionnaire was developed and given to 108 EFL learners with three different levels of education in both genders, who were selected randomly from Sheikhbahaee University and the University of Isfahan. The EFL learners’ request and complaint emails in three levels of education and English native speakers’ emails in both genders were also gathered. The data were analyzed based on Nogami and Rinnert's (2006), and Brown and Levinson’s (1987) models of complaint and request speech acts. Accordingly, the results of this study indicated that the EFL learners’ perceptions in the use of request and complaints’ politeness strategies were not in line with their actual performance in emails. It was also found that there were significant differences between levels and genders in request and complaint emails: because MA and BA female students and male native speakers expressed their request emails in a direct way, but male EFL students and female native speakers represented their complaints in a direct way
Removal of copper from metal injection molding industry effluent using groundnut shells as adsorbent
In the present investigation, the efficiency of groundnut shells for removal of copper from metal injection molding industry effluent has been investigated. Adsorption was carried out in a batch experiment to investigate the parameters such as initial metal ion concentration, adsorbent dose, pH and contact time, under constant shaking of 100 ml sample in a heavy rotatory shaking apparatus for 2 hours. Analysis of physico-chemical characteristics of effluent was also carried out. The result revealed that copper was reduced to a maximum of 93.48% using 8gm of groundnut shells at pH 7. Groundnut shells are good low cost adsorbents for removing heavy metals from effluent

Ethnobotanical and pharmacological uses of fig
Ficus carica , often referred to as Anjir in India, is a middle-sized laticiferous deciduous tree and is widely cultivated in all tropical and subtropical nations. It’s fruit is extremely sweet with several crunchy seeds present in it. It are often consumed as fresh or dried. It’s also referred to as the nature’s candy because it has dense natural sugar present in it. Figs have many traditional uses further as many benefit for our health. It's rich in potassium, manganese, vitamin B6, copper, vitamin B and plenty of fiber. This paper describes the ethnobotanical properties of fig and therefore the pharmacological uses associated with digestive, reproductive system and lots of more. It also helps in the treatment of digestive tract infection. The phytoconstituents psoralens, bergapten, xanthotoxin, xanthotoxol, and marmesin have also been isolated from leaves, in addition to umbelliferone and scopoletin, and peptides have been extracted from latex. Fruit extracts had anticarcinogenic, anthelmintic, and action against anaemia (due to ficin). The plant's traditional uses include purgative, aphrodisiac, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, diuretic, and anxiety-relieving (mild sedative). In order to provide a thorough evaluation of the literature on its ethnobotanical and pharmacological uses, the present review was created
Analysis of results of volatile organic compound (VOC) measurements using breathanalyzer on COVID-19 confirmed patients with pneumonia and without pneumonia
WHO declared COVID-19 infection as a pandemic since 2020. A rapid noninvasive examination is needed for screening and diagnostic. Exhaled Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) is a sample directly connected to the affected organ, which is the lung, and can be measured as an endogenous volatile marker resulted from oxidative stress. This study aims to analyze differences in VOC concentration in COVID-19 patients with pneumonia and without pneumonia. This Case Control Study used 93 confirmed case samples of COVID-19 and 42 healthy subject. Demographic and clinical data taken from anamnesis and/or medical records. VOC’s data of respiratory track are taken through the exhalation air in a bag and analyzed with breathanalyzer. Statistical analysis was conducted using Mann-Whitney test. In the analysis of confirmed samples of COVID-19 between pneumonia and without pneumonia, co components were found to affect the incidence of pneumonia in confirmed samples of COVID-19 (p=0.003). This conclusion is Components of CO in confirmed COVID-19 have a meaningful effect on an event of pneumonia
Detection of 13q deletion in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and its correlation to hematopathological parameters
Background: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia(CLL) is a monoclonal malignancy characterized by an accumulation of small and mature looking B lymphocytes in the blood, bone marrow and other tissues, and is typically characterized by expression CD5+, CD23+, CD22 -, CD79b-, with weak expression of surface immunoglobulin (sIg). Two major clinical staging systems (Rai and Binet staging), that developed to estimate prognosis in CLL. However both these systems are unable to prospectively distinguish the rapidly developing patients from those appreciated to remain with a stable disease for decades. Several publications reported the prognostic important of 13q deletion in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. 13q deletion is the most important cytogenetic abnormalities detected by Fluorescence In situ Hybridization in CLL patients and represent a good prognostic marker with 60% of patients alive after 5 years as compared with 27% for patients with a normal FISH analysis. Aims of the study: To investigate 13q deletion in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia by using FISH technique. To correlate the presence of 13q deletion with hematological and clinical prognostic markers including complete blood picture, absolute lymphocyte count, and modified Rai staging.
Rehabilitation information systems: What we know and what we want
Per the definition of the World Health Organization, rehabilitation is a set of interventions designed to optimize performance and reduce disability in people with a varying range of health-related disorders in interacting with their environment. Like many other fields of the health-care realm, the application and integration of valid and reliable research are perceivably highly primitive. It is not possible to accurately measure or predict the need for rehabilitation services in general, and it is certainly difficult to do so for specific demographic or geographic classes. Service providers lack the tools to make objective policy and financial decision-making at the systemic level without accurate and reliable information management practices. To gain the capacity to transform the current guidelines of the ministry and make financial changes in the entire rehabilitation process, the rehabilitation sector needs a strong voice and a solid political base to guide the rehabilitation process therefrom. The current narrative review focuses on our knowledge of rehabilitation information systems and what we know and what we want
Effect of classical yoga on forced vital capacity among middle-aged women pneumoconiosis sufferers
In this study, 120 middle-aged lung-affected patients were selected at random, observing random sampling method, screened, and further reduced to 40 with their Chest X-ray, from a fireworks factory at Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, between 35 to 50 years of age. Women were grouped into an experimental and control group of 20 each. The hypothesis was fixed that there would be a positive impact on Forced Vital Capacity among middle-aged women suffering from pneumoconiosis due to yogic practices. The Experimental Group underwent therapy for 12 weeks one hour each day. The control group was allowed to lead a normal life. The data collected from the groups were statistically analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The result of the study showed that Forced Vital Capacity was improved significantly due to regular Yogic practices. The hypothesis was accepted at a 0.05 level of confidence
A probe into the relationship between religiosity and work conscience with a tendency to financial and administrative corruption among employees in Jahrom
The present study explored the relationship between religiosity and work conscience with a tendency to administrative and financial corruption. A sample of 400 participants was selected through the systematic sampling method. The data was collected by questionnaire, the validity of which was determined by face validity, and the reliability was checked by internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha method. The analytical results also showed that work conscience and religiosity have a positive and significant impact on the tendency to administrative and financial corruption. Moreover, the demographic variables of occupation, social class, and income are significantly associated with the tendency to corruption. Explaining the dependent variable by the sum of independent variables indicated that work conscience (reliability), income, social class, and ethnicity, respectively, are the strongest predictors of the tendency to corruption, which can explain 13.6% of the corruption tendency variance. The findings were compared with similar results, and suggestions were provided to prevent the spread of corruption
