    Get PDF
Basic knowledge of electricity is needed in various work competencies in the field of electricity. As a student of the Electrical Engineering Department, basic electricity is something that must be understood. The basic understanding of electricity is not enough just theory, it takes hands-on practice in a laboratory with infrastructure, processes, and laboratory management adapted to the world of work. In order to optimize this, a guidebook is needed. The research aims are: (1) in the form of an augmented reality-based guidebook product. (2) Knowing the performance of augmented reality-based manuals. (3) The priority of augmented reality-based guidebooks is viewed from the material and media aspects. (4) Knowing student responses to augmented reality-based guidelines. The research uses the research and development (R&D) method of the ADDIE model according to Lee & Owens (2004), which has stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results of the research are: (1) A manual that is equipped with augmented reality technology, namely the AR-Daslis application to scan marker images. (2) The performance of the AR-Daslis application through the black box test gets a percentage of 100% which indicates the function can run well.&nbsp

Total physical response (TPR): Acquisition of English as a second language among dyslexic primary school children

    Get PDF
This paper aims at the effective utilization of TPR approaches in teaching English as a second language among children with dyslexia. This stress free simple teaching strategy is developed by James Asher. It emphasizes at bringing the dyslexics to the main stream of learning process. As T.P.R consists of different easy and fun activities it helps the student to understand the target language very effectively. It raises the pace and mood of the student. This method is very beneficial for kinaesthetic learners who need to be energetic in class. It involves the left and right brained learning. This approach is considered to be a fruitful method to help language learners to recall, accumulate, use and regain words in long term memory. To obtain a clear understanding on the efficacious of TPR teaching method among dyslexic students, a survey is conducted among teachers who teach dyslexic students. The questionnaire includes 10 questions.  While analysing the survey, the responses from the teachers indicates that the students respond to the imperative drills and other activities very actively. So adopting TPR as a teaching strategy helps the children with dyslexia to learn English more effectively in a stress free environment.&nbsp

OBJECTIVES: Our purpose was to analyse the pattern of labor progression in Low risk parturients in contemporary obstetric practice. STUDY DESIGN: We extracted detailed labor data from 1531 low risk parturients with a term, singleton, vertex fetus of normal birth weight after spontaneous onset of labor. Cesarean deliveries, instrumental deliveries and those needed oxytocin augmentation  were excluded. Those women whose new born needed resuscitation were also excluded. We used statistical measures to discover the average labor curve under contemporary practice.  We also computed the expected time interval of the cervix to reach the next centimeter, the expected rate of cervical dilation at each phase of labor.  RESULTS: Our average labor curve differs markedly from the Friedman curve . The cervix dilated substantially slower till 6 cm cervical dilatation. It took approximately 3.66 hours from 4 cm to 10 cm, compared with 2.5 hours under the Friedman curve. We observed no deceleration phase . Mean rate of cervical dilatation in active phase of labour was 1.42 cm/hr which is less than friedman’s rate of cervical dilatation which was 3 cm/hr. As per Zhang et al labour progress differentially at different degree of dilatation. &nbsp

Assessment of risks with acute ischemic stroke in association with CRP levels

Background: There is growing evidence of the prognostic importance of C-reactive protein (CRP) in ischemic stroke. However, the independent value of CRP at different stages after stroke has not been established. Therefore, we assessed the prognostic values of CRP in ischemic stroke. C- reactive protein (CRP), an acute phase reactant and a marker for underlying systemic inflammation has been reported to be elevated in acute coronary syndromes. It has been reported that concentrations of C-reactive protein is directly correlated with the presence and severity of atherosclerosis and are predictors of coronary events and mortality in patients with acute coronary syndromes.  Aims and Objectives: The primary aim of this study was to systematically and critically review the relationship between CRP and long-term functional outcome in ischemic stroke patients to evaluate the current state of the literature and also risks involved in it.  Materials and methods: This is a prospective study carried out in the Department of Medicine, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute, Ammapettai, Chengalpet, Tamilnadu. Personal history regarding dietary habits, smoking, alcohol consumption and tobacco chewing were noted. NIH Stroke Scale was assessed in all patients to assess the neurological disability and its prognosis.&nbsp

Narrative of the muted selves: Reframing womanhood in Chitra Banerjee’s select works

Chitra Banerjee represents the more new-fangled generation of writers’ phase of Indian English fiction. The Palace of Illusions (2008) and The Forest of Enchantments (2019) depict the plight of two women belonging to two different eras who are forced to live in a patriarchal world, suffering from its clutches. The current study attempts to bring in the various aspects of feminism, the concept of a “New Woman”, and sheds fresh light on a major Hindu epic, and attempts to question a woman’s place in society and reflects on the idea of female autonomy in a patriarchal community. The paper attempts an all-inclusive discussion of the concept of feminism. It is important to trace the experiences of both the female characters and how they evolve as strong identities

Background: The news of cancer often entails psychological and financial constraints on the patient and their caregivers. In India, the health systems are under tremendous load, with cancer services facing geographical, behavioural, economic and infrastructure challenges. In the backdrop of this, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) master to walk along with those facing a long and tumulus journey of cancer treatment by facilitating cancer care services. This paper examines the narratives of NGOs on their role and modus operandi in bringing ease of cancer care access. Method: By purposive sampling, four NGOs and six oncologists were interviewed in two cancer institutes in Northeast India, namely (i) Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Arunachal Pradesh and (ii) Dr B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) in Assam. A semi-structured interview schedule was used for the study, with data coded and transcribed verbatim on emerging themes. Requisite ethical clearances were received from the respective institutes. Results: Collaboration with the NGOs and cancer institutes has opened an array of ease of access for cancer patients. Such partnerships become indispensable, especially in the study area where socio-cultural diversity, infrastructural or psycho-social barriers could influence the timely treatment of cancer patients.&nbsp

    Environmental communication research

    Get PDF
Climate change and its anticipated dangers have become imminent and face us repeatedly while the philosophy of infinite economic growth and technological triumphalism is promoting a complicit approach towards environmental issues. In the light of this environmental communication (EC), research needs to promote a broader message which would include larger public awareness and engagement. But the EC research is found to be mere academic and media-centric. Given the urgency and complexity of environmental issues, this article presents an overview of the need for a praxis of EC research that is broader and action-centric from social, political and economic perspectives, safeguarding human rights and climate justice and promoting local community actions and comprehensive sustainable living
