Analysis of the Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan Curriculum Design

This study examines the implementation of the Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) curriculum at SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Medan, focusing on its relevance, pedagogical practices, assessment systems, and supporting institutional factors. Using a qualitative case-study design, data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving teachers, students, parents, and school documents. The findings reveal that the AIK curriculum is perceived as normatively strong, emphasising akhlaq, ibadah, and Qur’anic understanding, yet remains limited in addressing contemporary issues, particularly digital ethics and media-literacy challenges commonly experienced by adolescents. Classroom practices were dominated by lecture-based instruction, although discussion and project-based learning were present in several sessions. Parental involvement in religious activities was relatively high, but communication regarding students’ behavioural development was inconsistent. Assessment practices largely relied on written examinations, with minimal use of authentic or performance-based evaluations. Structural constraints including outdated textbooks, limited teacher professional development, and low technological integration, further hindered optimal curriculum enactment. Overall, the study concludes that while the AIK curriculum provides a solid normative foundation, its effectiveness is constrained by pedagogical, structural, and contextual limitations. The study recommends enriching the curriculum with contemporary Islamic digital-ethics content, strengthening teachers’ capacities in student-centred and technology-supported pedagogies, improving communication systems with parents, and expanding authentic assessment methods. These improvements are expected to enhance the curriculum’s relevance and its capacity to cultivate holistic Islamic character development aligned with the demands of the digital era

This study aims to examine the use of digital media in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Through literature analysis, this study found that digital media has great potential to improve the quality of Islamic Education learning. The use of technologies such as e-books, learning videos, interactive applications, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) can improve students' accessibility, interactivity, learning motivation, and digital competence. However, the research also identified several challenges, including technology infrastructure readiness, teacher competency, and safety and ethical aspects of technology use. To overcome these challenges, proposed solutions include strengthening technology infrastructure, improving teachers' digital competencies through continuous training, developing digital ethics policies and guidelines, and close supervision during learning. The findings of this study make an important contribution to the development of the theory and practice of Islamic religious education in the digital era and can serve as a reference for educators, policymakers, and researchers. Further research is needed to explore unreached aspects and assess the effectiveness of the proposed strategie

Character education is a crucial aspect in shaping students into moderate and noble individuals, especially within the context of social and cultural diversity. The Islamic Spiritual Extracurricular Program (ROHIS) at SMK Negeri 1 Surakarta serves as a strategic platform to instill religious values and moderation through various activities such as moral studies, case discussions, religious training, and social engagement. This study aims to examine the role of ROHIS activities in shaping students’ moderate character and to identify the challenges faced in its implementation. Using a case study approach and qualitative data, the findings reveal that ROHIS activities are effective in enhancing attitudes of tolerance, mutual respect, and social sensitivity, as well as in sustainably fostering students' character development. However, challenges such as the influence of extremist ideologies from social media, limited facilities, and low student participation require serious attention to ensure that development strategies can be carried out optimally. It is recommended that schools enhance program innovation, involve parents, utilize digital media, and conduct regular evaluations to strengthen the role of ROHIS in cultivating a strong sense of moderation among student

This study examines the comparative use of video-based learning media and textbooks on the learning outcomes of Fikih students in grade XI at SMK Diponegoro Ploso Jombang. This study uses a quantitative research design with a true experimental design. The data analysis techniques in this study use several tests, namely the classical assumption test, the one-sample t-test, and the two-sample t-test.” The results of the one-sample t-test for variables X1 and Y show that t_calculated 2.682 > t_table 2.060 and the significance value 0.013 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. For X2 and Y, it was found that t_calculated 0.165 < t_table 2.060 and the significance value 0.870 > 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected. X1 and X2 on Y, it is known that t_calculated 2.677 > t_table 2.008 and the significance value 0.010 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Full text link
This study aims to analyze the perception of Islamic Religious Education students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra towards the use of Artificial Intelligence as a learning resource. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological type. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. Furthermore, the data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model combined with ATLAS.ti software. The results of this study indicate that; 1) The information provided by Artificial Intelligence is not completely accurate because there are deficiencies in the depth of explanation and the references listed are not completely valid; 2) AI provides ease of access and use in the learning process; 3) The use of AI is considered efficient in terms of time and cost; and 4) Student ethics in using Artificial Intelligence as a learning resource is not yet entirely good, although it shows a positive direction and growing ethical awareness. This study suggests that in the future, Artificial Intelligence developers need to connect Artificial Intelligence systems with scientific repositories, and that their use must be accompanied by strengthening digital literacy and critical attitudes from users

This study aims to examine the performance of Islamic Religious Counselors in fostering a harmonious family for converts in Deli Serdang Regency from the perspective of maqashid al-syariah. The method in this study uses a descriptive qualitative approach; data is collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of religious counselors, religious affairs offices, and converts who are being fostered. The results of the study show that religious instructors not only carry out their role as preachers, but also as managers of coaching programs that include planning, organizing, mobilizing, and supervising functions. The coaching process is carried out formally and informally through lectures, interpersonal sharing, digital media, and home visits, with materials that emphasize the importance of family resilience, religious understanding, and moral values. All these efforts reflect the implementation of the values ??of maqashid al-syariah, especially in maintaining religion (hifz al-din), soul (hifz al-nafs), reason (hifz al-‘aql), descendants (hifz al-nasl), and property (hifz al-mal), so that development is not only ceremonial but becomes a process of spiritual and social transformation towards a peaceful family based on Islamic law

The Concept of Madurese Customary Inheritance from the Perspective of Anthropology and Islamic Law

The Pakaan Dajah Village community in Madura has a tradition of inheritance distribution that deviates from the faraid system of Islamic law. In other words, this village has an inheritance distribution system that does not conform to the distribution of inheritance as outlined in Islamic law. This study examines the implementation of customary inheritance from the perspective of legal anthropology and Islamic law using a juridical-empirical and juridical-sociological approach through qualitative methods. Data were collected through literature studies, interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that inheritance distribution is carried out in two ways: during the testator's lifetime through a gift or will, and after the testator's death through deliberation and consensus among the heirs. This tradition tends to divide assets equally without distinction of gender, because men and women are considered to have equal value and roles in the family. This tradition is considered fairer and minimizes conflict, and is deeply rooted in society. Contextually, this inheritance practice can be justified because it is in line with the principle of deliberation and consensus in Islam and can be categorized as takharuj in Hanafi jurisprudence, although under certain conditions, the distribution can still be returned to the faroid system
