Digitale Transformation der Automobilindustrie : etablierte Geschäftsmodelle im Spannungsfeld autonomen Fahrens
Automobiles embody the epitome of individual mobility. For many people, the automobile satisfies further claims beyond its pure mobility function. Automobile manufacturers recognized this fact early on and offer interested customers a wide range of models for almost every situation in life.
Although the automobile has been continuously developed over time and is now a safe, comfortable and reliable means of transport compared to its beginnings, the business model of the automobile manufacturers has hardly changed. The sale of automobiles is still the top priority when it comes to the success and future viability of an OEM.
Automobiles and their key function, individual mobility, have always been tied to a human driver and incomplete without them. With the development of fully autonomous driving, the automobile is experiencing a leap in development that has never been seen before in its existence. This enables the automobile to perform its mobility function virtually uninterrupted (with few exceptions) without human intervention.
What does this development mean for the business models of established automobile manufacturers and what conclusions can be drawn from it for future business models? It is assumed that car ownership will not decline despite the introduction of fully autonomous automobiles and that the business model of established car manufacturers will not be fundamentally changed by this technological development.
Based on this assumption, a customer-centered view on the fully autonomous automobile was examined as part of an empirical survey. The result of this quantitative study suggests that ownership of private automobiles could experience a decline with the introduction of fully autonomous driving and the existence of business models geared toward it. This results in a serious threat scenario for the product-oriented business model of the established automobile manufacturers.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Expansionsstrategien österreichischer Startups in der DACH-Region am Fallbeispiel Storebox
According to the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy in Austria, 38,636 new companies were founded in Austria in 2015 twice as many as 20 years ago. 1.5 to 3 percent of these Companies were startups. Due to Globaliza-tion there is a new type firm that internationalizes different and faster than con-ventional companies. This type of companies are called Born Globals lots of those companies but not all are Startups. In terms of labor market policy, startups are becoming increasingly important. 2.2 years after a startup is founded startup companies employ an average of 7.5 employees. In order to grow exponentially, startups are forced to internationalize quickly respectively startups are founded with the intention of rapid internationalization.
In order to determine how Austrian startups internationalize the Autor of this work took one Viennese startup to analysis the way the company internationalized. In a matter classify whether the Viennese startup storebox corresponds to the defini-tion of a Born Global, this work compares the way of internationalization of sto-rebox with the four criteria, which according to Lumma Born Globals differs from conventional companies (speed in internationalization, depth of internationaliza-tion, distance of internationalization, diversity of internationalization) The author of this paper also compares the internationalization strategy of store.me with the Uppsala theory and the theory on fragmented development in order to answer the research question as to whether the Uppsala model can explain the international-ization process of the Austrian startup storebox.
On the 23rd of June 2016, the British people voted in a referendum to withdraw from the European Union. A majority of 51.9% of the electorate paved the way for the way to leave the Union under Article 50 TEU. Within Great Britain there were enormous differences of opinion, especially between the young and the old population. While among voters over the age of 50, the majority of more than 63% was mainly in favour of Brexit, was evident among younger voters with over 70% a clear tendency to remain in the European Union. This issue remains a still topical in British society. In the run-up to the referendum, the Conservative British Government supports always more strongly for the sovereignty of their country. This also raised the mood against the Union from the British people and the opposition. David Cameron, at that time Chairman of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of Great Britain, was forced to put his people to a referendum. Whether the desire for more freedom, less immigration and more. Only time will tell if self-determination can be realised. The exact extent of the Brexit Referendums can only be achieved through studies, forecasts and projections be appreciated.
A precedent for the withdrawal of an EU Member State from the Union has not been set so far. In many areas there is therefore a great deal of uncertainty, as cannot refer to any experience and practices. If no decision on a transitional period or specific agreement will be achieved, the United Kingdom and the European Union only work together on the basis of the WTO free trade agreement. In his thesis, the author describes the Brexit as a “lose, lose” situation for both parties, the European Union and Great Britain. The following thesis will analyse in detail the political consequences, economic costs and security implications of the British people's decision. The work will also look at possible future forms of cooperation between the EU and the United Kingdom. Whether closer co-operation similar to the Canadian Free Trade Model or whether WTO is the last resort, this work will be detailed in its final chapters. At the end of the paper, the agreement between the European Union and Great Britain is discussed in detail. The analysis is based on forecasts by economists, newspaper articles and statistical values from research institutes.
The main goal of this master thesis is to analyse different motivational behaviours regarding the writing of online consumer reviews on the perspective of an Austrian consumer and furthermore distinguishing between cosmetic products and cosmetic services. The second main research question deals with the impact of different prize levels on the motivational behaviour to write an online review for cosmetic products or services. Additionally, the research should deliver more detailed information about the motivation to write an online review by analysing a specific target group in the cosmetic industry for example persons with skin sensitivity and persons with no skin sensitivity issues. In reference to the comparison of the product type (service vs. product) recommendations can be derived to increase online reviews for cosmetic services as well as for cosmetic products.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
NPE/NPL Backstop – Comparison with the previous regulation under IFRS 9 and impact analyses of the new requirement
Another new requirement for banks from the regulatory side. The NPE/NPL Backstop. This concerns the risk allowance of defaulted loans. In particular, those that remain in the bank's portfolio for a longer period of time even though they are defaulted. This paper examines both the background and the content of the new requirement. Furthermore, a quantitative evaluation is conducted to determine the extent to which this new requirement can affect a bank. This has high practical relevance, since this concerns the banks directly. The evaluation program can be adapted to the bank's database and then used in practice. The evaluation shows why immediate as well as ongoing processing of the defaulted portfolio is necessary.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Krankenstandsverhalten im Homeoffice in Österreich : Präsentismus versus Absentismus
Title: The Behavior concerning Sick leaves in Austria – presenteeism versus absenteeism
This thesis is about the correlation of remote working on the one hand and the working ability on the other hand regarding employees in Austria, also considering its effects. It describes basic theoretical concepts concerning employability and gives information regarding the workplace health management and how leadership affects a healthy working environment. Supported by literature research and an online survey that was carried out the following research question will be answered:
Are there differences in the individual and personal working ability when comparing remote work and physical presence in the office?
Based on the mentioned sources (literature research and the results of the online survey), the writer of this thesis can deduce three research-based advices for firms and leaders: First, it is recommended to implement a workplace health management within the company or at least nominate individual employees to responsibly cover this topic. As a second it seems necessary to raise the awareness that healthiness is a leadership task. This also includes the training of leaders in recognizing health-damaging behavior. The third recommendation is to offer remote working whenever it is possible, as the results of the online survey show that employees tend to work remote even in situations where they would not go to office because of illness.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Robotic Process Automation : Gestaltung des Projektmanagements zur Steigerung der Mitarbeitermotivation
Introduction: Advancing technology increases the pressure for change on companies to make their processes as effective and efficient as possible and to withstand increasing competition. Robotic Process Automation is gaining popularity in the 4th industrial revolution and is being implemented by a variety of companies to achieve improvements in business management components such as “costs”, “quality” and “speed” in process execution. The key role in the implementation of Robotic Process Automation is played by the project management. It must be designed to involve the right people and the right approach is used to ensure the success of a Robotic Process Automation project. The aim of this work was to discuss how projects for Robotic Process Automation have been carried out in a logistic company so far and to find out how to design the project management to innovate the employees to participate in such a project and thus to increase their performance.
Method: The study was preceded by a systematic literature search via the search engine “Google” and in the databases “Emerald”, “WISO”, “ScienceDirect”, and “Statista”, to present the current state of research. Subsequently, expert interviews were conducted from which hypotheses were derived, which are finally confirmed or falsified by a 21-item survey. The 21 items can be rated on a Likert-Scale at 1-5 points. This allows to calculate a total score per item. By calculating the mean value at each item, the derived hypotheses could be confirmed or falsified.
Results: The design at the project management for the implementation of Robotic Process Automation should follow the agile project management approach. Thereby it is necessary to involve employees in project development and decisions at a near stage. Professional Change Management helps to motivate employees to participate in the project and thus obtain an increase in the performance.
Discussion: The design of the project management affects the employee’s motivation to participate on a Robotic Process Automation project. A good preparation of the employees for the new technology seems to be indispensable for a successful project implementation with technologies advancing faster than ever before. They have a major impact on the world of work, further research should start with the impact on employees.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Reinventing Culture : braucht es ein spezifisches kulturelles Ökosystem für die erfolgreiche Einführung von künstlicher Intelligenz?
The work culture and entrepreneurial reality as we know it today already had its beginnings in the first industrial revolution. In the context of digitalization, a lively discussion has been sparked in recent years about the necessary renewal in this work culture. The discourse is flanked by postulates from academia that call for a radical change in work and corporate culture: a departure from the Taylorism model and a sustainable change towards agile, organic and employee-centred structures in which digitalization can come to full bloom.
Examining the appropriateness of this demand will be the subject of my work.
As part of my MBA studies with a focus on digital transformation, I am researching the connection between corporate culture and the introduction of artificial intelli-gence (AI).
To this end, the literature section will first describe which socio-cultural factors in 18th century Great Britain led to the country becoming the ‘workshop of the world - and the first state to switch from an agrarian to an industrial society. In the further course, the socio-cultural situation in connection with the fourth industrial revolution will be examined using the example of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The focus will be on the question of whether Germany currently has the potential for a leading position in the digital revolution - and thus for being the first country to make the transition from industrial to digital society.
The empirical part of my work will analyze the connection between corporate culture and technological progress using the example of the introduction of AI in different companies. Specifically, this work wants to check whether a causal relationship can be confirmed in the corporate context between a specific corporate culture and the successful introduction of AI.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

From the beginning, experts have been investigating the phenomenon of why people are engaging in criminality. Numerous criminological attempts have been made in the past to elucidate the development of crime and terrorism. Crucial to the examination was the "multi-factor theory", which asserts that human behavior can be explained by various determinants. This theory incorporates key factors such as social and economic circumstances, personal education and upbringing, various psychological factors and resulting diseases and disorders, as well as bio- logical characteristics. The same applies to external factors, such as political conditions and the criminal law relevant sentences and their execution by the state. There is a lot of literature dealing with the phenomena of terrorism and organized crime, but it is easy to see that not all aspects are adequately covered. Despite the fact that the past has been shaped by occasional bioterrorist attacks, authors can- not entirely agree on the perceived threat posed by biological warfare agents. A clear change in the way organized crime and terrorism operate can be observed. Emerging warfare agents such as microorganisms, bacteria, viruses and toxins are often found as potential agents for spreading fear and panic. There is a convergence in the way organizations are approaching these issues, with more and more professional organizations focusing on operational excellence. The boundaries separating organized crime and terrorism are often merging and defamation is occurring. This master thesis has aims to bring light into this diffuse research area.Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien, Masterarb., 202
