    No full text
Topic – Organisations are affected by current megatrends, such as globalisation, digitalisation, and demographic change. Thus, project management is confronted with change and change management is becoming increasingly important in project management. Organizing change as projects can make change more manageable. Change-projects are characterised by significant change of attitudes and habits. Therefore, the focus is not only on functional aspects, but also on soft aspects. This is the challenge in managing change-projects. Purpose – The master thesis aims to identify on the one hand the influence of project management to change-projects and on the other hand the influence of change management to projects. The study demonstrates the differences between change management and project management. It clearly shows competences and tasks of project managers in the process of managing change-projects. Method – In order to achieve this aim, the master thesis is written in form of a literature work. The aim is to evaluate the current state of the research field and answer the questions that have been posed. This will enable a more comprehensive understanding of the research area and present a new perspective. The methodology of the literature work is primarily database research on current studies from professional journals and books. Results – The main findings of this master thesis are: Both change management and project management can be used to manage change-projects. The literature review shows no clear estimation about the management responsibility of change-projects. Therefore, both change management and project management have a positive impact and should be used in combination. Project management can help to give structure while change management focuses on soft aspects. Change management and project management differ in four main components: theoretical foundations, skills of the parties involved, life cycle, and focus for change. Project management thus specialises in quantitative tools, while change management has a focus on organisational change. The role of project managers is dependent on the type of change. There is a distinction between changes of first dimension and changes of second dimension. In general, project managers have to fulfil basis competences as well as specific competences for change-projects. Creativity and stress resistance are mandatory due to time pressure and decision-making in change-projects. The focus on sufficient communication as well as the incorporation of the change in the corporate culture are vitally important.

The COVID19 pandemic more or less forced companies to holistically and quickly switch to a new way of working, virtual working. The change has resulted in companies operating in virtual project teams from this point onwards in order to successfully meet project objectives. The use of virtual project teams has opened up many new opportunities for companies compared to traditional employee management, such as international collaboration and the independent workplace of individual employees. Due to the new circumstances, there were challenges and disadvantages especially for the project manager. The challenges for the project manager were to create a team feeling, to adapt the leadership style and to handle the communication media in order to pass all information transparently to the project team. The virtual way of working has brought changes in the expectations and requirements of future project managers and project staff. Social skills play a crucial role here. Such a change in the way people work leads to shifts in work motivation. For project managers, finding the right motivational factors and incentives was a major challenge.

Many companies aim to be climate neutral by optimizing their corporate and/or their product carbon footprint and/or their product carbon footprint. Reasons differ from intrinsic beliefs to sales arguments for consumers. Mosty overseen however is marketing itself that emits CO2 and other green house gases. Since 2021 the first German service is available that renders advertising campaigns climate neutral by offsetting the created emissions. This has a positive impact on the environment as well as influencing consumers to choose more climate conscious advertising solutions. Since there is no international standard available on how and what to integrate in a life cycle assessment of an advertising campaign, this master thesis analyses the product life cycle of advertising throughout various media. The objective of this work is to provide a better understanding, which criteria must be fulfilled to meet international requirements, where system boundaries can and need to be set and where practical limitations arise. In order to answer these research questions, international standards for product life cycles are analysed and compared in order to get a better understanding of the requirements. The paper focuses on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Standard, ISO 14040/14044 and ISO 14067. Analysing these standards, seven criteria are defined as to be valid and relevant for a life cycle assessment for advertisement. The case study takes a close look into the first German model, the Green GRP by ClimatePartner, by analysing public data as well as conducting a qualitative interview, workshops and email conversations. The results provide insight into the challenges companies face in their actual business practice. The findings are differentiated by media (TV, online, billboard and print advertising) as by the developed qualitative criteria. With these two perspectives, possibilities for optimisation are presented, which need to be addressed. The author concludes the paper with an aggregation of the results with an academic and a practical point of view, as well as the critical appraisal of the applied empirical method and its limitations.

The City of Vienna Competence Team “New Work, New Business” of the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna conducted an online survey on virtual leadership in the context of the Corona crisis in cooperation with the company Lindlpower Personalmanagement in summer 2021. 205 people completed the questionnaire in sufficient detail, with more than half belonging to Generation X and 36.1% to Generation Y. More than half work in senior or middle management. The main topics of the survey were aspects of virtual methodological and leadership competencies of managers, differences between generational groups and the relationship between managers and employees. Regarding tool usage, it was found that emails and video telephony are used most frequently. Perceived digital competence can statistically significantly predict the relationship with the manager. The implementation of virtual leadership functions is predominantly rated as good and no gender differences or differences between age groups could be identified. Face-to- face meetings continue to be used to build trust and relationships. Social collaboration tools are hardly used. Another important finding is that the perceived quality of the relationship with the manager influences the perceived media competence of the manager. However, this correlation is only relevant if the perception of one’s own media competence is (very) good. The majority of managers’ self-assessment of their own media competence is rated as good to very good, but this must be seen in the context of the fact that the majority of media used in the home office are limited to traditional means of communication.Magistratsabteilung 23, Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Statistik Call 24-13: Kompetenzteam New Work New Busines

Digitalization and automatization are in full progress and capture a high number of companies including those of small and mid-size. Big companies as well as start-ups have already implemented fully digitized business models, while small and mid-size companies – which have established their business model for longer time and have only limited resources – have to transform and adapt to the competitive landscape with a greater deal of effort, in particular if they have no market dominating position. This work focuses on the operating unit purchase of such a small or mid-sized company and its degree of digitalization, in particular special cases in relation to the time scheduling of goods. As a first step target processes are discussed, which show the full picture of goods management including interlaced logistic processes in order to understand deviations in daily practice which lead to the concrete appearing processes. Reviewing the requirements and opportunities for digitalization and automatization of those operating units allow to fully understand the theoretical foundation of the substantial and technical nature. The objective is to explore the digital transformation within the operations unit purchase with a case study and how and where deviations between the target process and the concrete appearing process are handled by a human administrator. The detected data is evaluated from different perspectives to answer the research question “What can be the given area of tension between potentials and obstacles regarding to digitalization and automatization of the time scheduling of goods in a small or midsized company in Germany with different distribution channels which offers substitutable products and that has no dominating market position?“ The results of this work can be used as basis for enhanced research in relation to questions like, how could a concrete project plan including the calculation of overall return on an investment for a digital transformation project for small or mid-sized companies in Germany look like?Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Die Einführung robotisch assistierter Chirurgie (RAC) in Österreichs Krankenhäusern : Betrachtung aus der Managementperspektive

    No full text
In recent decades, significant progress has been made in the field of minimally invasive surgery through innovative surgical methods and technologies. In Austria, the widespread use of robotic-assisted surgeries allows for the initial phases of further development in the field. The robots used for these procedures are electromechanical systems that provide surgeons with optimal technical support. Robotic-assisted surgery enables patients to undergo a wider range of procedures that can be performed more gently and precisely. Hospitals benefit from improved performance indicators such as a reduced length of stay for patients and minimized complication or re-intervention rates. Robotic-assisted surgery therefore represents an excellent opportunity for healthcare. However, the implementation of a robot does not guarantee success. All persons involved face significant challenges in terms of workflows, new tasks and training. The new surgical approach must be learned, which requires additional effort. Therefore, the question arises as to how a hospital can approach the challenges of implementing a surgical robot and determine which factors are most relevant. Possible success factors include aspects related to 'team', 'training', 'communication' and 'economy'. This master thesis aims to answer these questions through a literature review and a qualitative survey. For this purpose, expert interviews were conducted about the robotic project at the Kufstein public hospital in Tyrol where a da Vinci robot (Intuitive Surgical Inc.) has been in use since 2020. Ten findings emerged from this study that may be helpful to other hospitals planning to implement a robotic program. The central finding showed that the team involved is an essential success factor for RAC implementation in terms of the commitment and collaboration of all participants.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Sustainability is an essential part of our world today. Driven by social responsibility and legal guidelines companies and the financial market must change and move forward. The business and trading policy from hedge funds and companies have to include sustainability. The research question is, which potential hedge funds have to make an impact with their Shortselling strategy. Is Shortselling able to affect the ESG performance of companies. The thesis includes two parts. One part is the integration of sustainability in hedge fund structures. That means which business policy and investment strategies they have – we look in the inside of an hedge fund. And the second part is the effect they have on other companies. How can they influence stock-listed companies and their sustainability policy. Well-known Shortselling attacks and their consequences for the companies describe the possible influence of hedge funds.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Working paper series by the University of Applied Sciences bfi Vienna / Akkumulation, Regulation und Wohnungspolitik : Wege zu leistbarem und nachhaltigem Wohnen

    No full text
